North America’s “Shale Revolution” has been
brought about by the use of hydraulic fracturing
and horizontal drilling that has enabled the
U.S. and Canada to significantly increase their
production of hydrocarbons, particularly from
tight oil and gas formations.
Prospective shale deposits exist in many
parts of the world, but their development has
significantly lagged behind North America.
The panel will discuss the existing policy and
legal landscapes in North America and the
most promising shale basins elsewhere and
what needs to be done to begin to bridge the

cover general issues, including: unauthorized practice of law and multijurisdictional rules’ application; lawyers’ duty of competence; the conflicts
of interest, fee/expense, privilege and work product implications of lawyers working with third party AI providers or consultants; lawyers’ ability to
limit their liability; discoverability and ownership of AI material. Second, the program will address AI issues transactional lawyers may face, including
ethics rules governing lawyers’ reaction to transactional adversaries’ AI - induced substantive mistakes or typographical errors; and ownership of AI

Registration includes the Conference, the John Rogers Award Reception and Dinner, meals and the course material provided online, which may be printed or saved by customer. Printed course material may be obtained for an additional $150 fee (check additional option below).
GENERAL INFORMATIONCANCELLATION POLICY: Tuition less a $50 cancellation fee will be refunded upon receipt of written cancellation received by January 31, 2019. Email [email protected]. After this date, no refunds, but substitution of attendees for this program will be permitted. Registrants not entitled to a refund will receive the online course materials.
HOUSING: The cost of housing is not included in tuition. However, rooms (in limited number) have been reserved at the JW Marriott Hotel - Galleria, 5150 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77056. Registrants should call 1.713.961.1500 and advise them they are attending the “IEL – Annual Oil & Gas Law Conference” to receive a reduced room rate of $209 ++ per night. MCLE CREDIT: For this conference, IEL will directly apply (if requested) for course accreditation in the following states: California, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. Some of these states may not approve a program for credit hours before the program occurs. Attorneys may be eligible to receive CLE credit through reciprocity or attorney self-submission in other states. IEL conferences are typically accredited by all mandatory CLE states.
The program is approved by the State Bar of Texas for 11 hours, including 2 hours of ethics. Course ID Number: 174036293. Approved credit hours will vary by jurisdiction and are subject to each jurisdiction’s approval and credit rounding rules.
