BMW issues Direct Delivery Prep Order to Supplier and Logistical Provider

Supplier pre-advises shipment through Logistical Provider‘s system

Supplier provides latest version of pick-up list for carrier

Supplier stages shipments for pick-up (packed and invoiced by final destination)

Supplier loads shipments, which are picked up by Logistical Provider

Logistical Provider books goods receipt in BMW IT system and supplier gets paid

Bedarfsteile Parts

A-surface parts need special attention to prevent any type of surface

damage. Generally, packaging requirements are as followed:

• 1 part per corrugated box

• Surface protection via foam pouch or sheet (sealed with service label)

• Plastic Bag (if sufficient, usually foam pouch)

• Inserts (if needed)

• Several parts per heat treated pallet or per G6/G7 cage

• Load security according packaging manual (b2b portal)

Note: A-surface parts are generally single packed

Materials that are not approved include:

•Bubble wrap

•Foam peanuts

Smaller parts are always preferentially packed into BMW modular boxes.

NOTE: Fasteners (Screws, nuts, bolts, etc.), can be packed in bulk

(Service Label on bags, and box: 100 parts in a bag, x bags in a box)

Modular standard boxes should be

used in general for all parts possible!

• Modular boxes must be built exactly

according to technical specifications-

including prints

• Information in B2B partner portal under:

Packaging manual (see previous sides)

labels on each modular box as shown in the

picture

closing on both sides

Packaging Requirements: Glass Parts Glass parts must not acquire any type of surface damage. These parts are

generally packed using:

•Foam Edge Protectors

•PE shrink film

•G6 Cage/ G7 Cage/ Wooden Crate

NOTE: Glass parts require a special label which can be found in the B2B

Windshield Example Step 1:

Place BMW Service part label

(thermo label) on glass.

Place windshield on top of holder.

Step 2:

Cover windshield edges

with blue edge

Protection

Step 3:

Windshield goes through a heating

channel

(Please note: Usage of tightly

attached PE bag possible)

Windshield Example Step 4:

Assemble G7 container

•Place1 foam mat on bottom of cage

•Draw 2 pieces of strapping band

through cage as shown in picture.

•Place 2 pieces of foam blocks on top

of foam mat against strapping band.

•Fixation of strapping band with small

brace on foam block helps banding.

Step 5:

Take prepared G7 container (step 4)

with a specific hand lift (container is

sloped on the hand lift so the

windshield may not tumble down)

Assemble several windshields into

the container

Windshield Example Step 6:

Place 2 foam blocks on left and right

side between windshield and cage.

Place 4 additional foam protection on

bottom and on top of the first

windshield.

Strap it with the 2 strapping bands

prepared in step 4.

Step 7:

•Tilt G7 into normal position

(horizontal).

•Add one additional foam protection

(top middle) on windshield. Close the

G7 container .

•Add one additional strapping band

through the front grid along the edge

protection and below the entire

container and strap it.

•Large/Heavy parts need to have stable and strong shipping boxes.

This can be achieved through:

•Wooden Crates

•G6 and G7 Cages

•Triple Wall Containers with Custom Inserts and pallet

•Load security is critical (strapping and shrink wrap)

•NOTE: If single weight of part and packaging exceeds

15kg (33lbs) an individual pallet is mandatory

•Maximum capacity weight must be discussed with corrugate

companies and wooden pallet suppliers to ensure safe

transportation

•NOTE: Make sure to include all handling symbols and labels

on the outermost container (ex: stack factor, fragile, etc.)

generated.
