Tackling Racial Inequalities:
Introducing the ProjectTheNetworkforBlackProfessionalsisoneofthesuccessfulorganisationscurrentlyinreceiptoffinancialsupportfromtheDepartmentofCommunitiesandLocalGovernment(DCLG)throughtheTacklingRacialInequalitiesFund(TRIF).TheNetworkwillofferabroadrangeofprofessionaldevelopmentopportunitiesoverthenexttwoyearstoarangeofcolleaguesinpublicandVoluntaryandCommunitySectororganisations,someofwhichwillbetailoredfromtheNetwork’sawardwinningBlackLeadershipInitiative.Thispositiveactionprogrammeattractsa100%subsidythroughDCLG.

The Programme AimsThe Network’s programme of activities will aim to achieve the following key goals:• Reduceimbalancesinemployment,educationandtraining• HelptoensuretherearemorepeoplefromBAMEbackgrounds
atseniorlevelswithinarangeofemploymentareas• PromotesocialjusticeandequalityofopportunityforpeoplefromBAMEgroups• Increaselevelsofcivicparticipation,volunteeringorrepresentationin
civicorpoliticalinstitutionsamongpeoplefromBAMEgroups• WorkwithlocalbodiespromotingraceequalitytohelpthemworkmoreeffectivelyTheprojectalsoincludesaresearchelementwhichwillbelinkedtoidentifyinggoodpracticeandexemplarprojectsfromacrossthecountry.Thisresearchisalsolinkedtothecreationofapublicationandthreedisseminationevents.
