Organizations Urge Congress to Support CLINICAL TREATMENT Act The Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently sent a letter to House and Senate leadership urging their support for policies to increase diversity in clinical trials, including the CLINICAL TREATMENT Act (H.R. 913), in a future COVID-19 response package. These policies were included in Title IV of the Cures 2.0 concept paper, which was developed by Representatives Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Fred Upton (R-MI) to safely and efficiently modernize the delivery of health care in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Seventy-seven organizations representing researchers, physicians, survivors, and their families signed onto the letter in support of these provisions. Thank you to the following Affiliates for joining ASCO in support of this effort in such a quick turnaround:

• Alabama Cancer Congress • The Arizona Clinical Oncology Society • Medical Oncology Association of Southern California, Inc. • Rocky Mountain Oncology Society • Delaware Society for Clinical Oncology • Florida Society of Clinical Oncology • Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology

Join ASCO in Helping to Understand COVID-19 Impact on Patients The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) launched the ASCO Survey on COVID-19 in Oncology Registry (ASCO Registry) to help the entire cancer community learn about the pattern of symptoms and severity of COVID-19 among patients with cancer, as well as how COVID-19 infections impact the delivery of cancer care and patient outcomes. The registry will collect both baseline and follow up data throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and into 2021. We invite you to share information about the registry with your members so that ASCO can increase awareness and participation in the registry. During these unprecedented times, we need to ensure that we are learning from every patient, in every practice or hospital across the country so that we can inform care for all of our patients with cancer. ASCO Policy Statement on Skin Cancer Prevention The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) released a new policy statement on skin cancer prevention to affirm ASCO’s support for and commitment to policies aimed at lessening the burden of skin cancer through reducing exposure to UV radiation (UVR) for youth and adults. The recommendations call for reducing exposure to indoor tanning, increased public efforts to promote sun protection, investments to community education and outreach, and highlights the critical role of oncology providers. The recommendations were developed by ASCO’s Skin Cancer Prevention Writing Group under the Cancer Prevention Committee, approved by the Board of Directors, and accepted after peer review for publication in the JCO Oncology Practice.
