LVB consists of a software library installed on the IBM i that implements commands that look

very similar to current IBM commands: SAVLIBLV, SAVOBJLV, SAV, SAVDLOLV, SAVCFGLV,

making it extremely easy to change your backup solution from tape to LVB.

optional feature that lets you do full system saves without tape. Plus, using LVB with LaserVault

To use LVB, all you need is an IBM i system, a Windows-based backup server, and the LVB

software. Most users can expect to cut their backup time significantly, with many cutting times

in half or more, depending on their system configuration. LVB lets you easily backup your

iSeries via TCP/IP to your own Windows server, NAS, SAN or deduplication appliance.

LaserVault Backup (LVB) is a tapeless disk-to-disk backup software solution for iBM i (AS/400,

iSeries, System i) users. It gives you the capability to backup your IBM i to disk using a simple

TCP/IP connection.

LVB stores each backup as a file on a local or network attached disk array that can be copied

for offsite backup or restored to the IBM i quickly. LVB does not use save files on the IBM i.
