ake your heavy-duty fabricationsoperations more productiveand profitable with advanced

laser cutting technology fromLVD, a leading manufacturer ofmetal fabrication equipment.

Our line of heavy-duty Impulslasers addresses the special needsof plate fabricators.

We've advanced such features asrotary axis cutting and introducedthe powerful GE Fanuc 5 kW and6 kW resonators to our Impulslaser systems for fast and accurateprocessing of a range of materialsand material thicknesses, includingstainless steel, plate and wear andstructural plate such as Hardox,Weldox, Domex and others.

Impuls Series lasers offer largetable capacities to handle materialsup to 12500 x 3000 mm and theflexibility to process flat plate orload the table while processingpre-formed parts or tubes.

■ NC Focus: programmableadjustment of the focal position ofthe lens in relation to the nozzle• Operator intervention to

adjust the focal point is nolonger required

• Piercing time drasticallyreduced

• Improved piercing stability inthicker material

■ Automatic lens calibration:after inserting a new lens, theexact focal point of the lens will be determined withoutoperator intervention

■ Piercing sensor guaranteesperfect piercing in thickermaterial, irrespective ofvariations in chemicalcomposition and surfacecondition of the plate

Quick Set-up ■ Laser Eye: optical sensor

referencing system• Allows automatic and non-

contact datum calculation and sheet referencing frompre-punched holes or twoadjacent plate edges

• Guarantees scratch-freereferencing and geometricaccuracy

■ Capacitive height sensingbuilt into the cutting head:• Maintains a constant distance

between the head and thematerial being processed

• Adjusts to any undulations in the plate

■ High pressure (clean cut)cutting head (standard)equipped for a 5", 7.5" or 10"cutting lens

■ Built-in scrap conveyor

■ Cutting technology databasefor a wide variety of materials

■ User-friendly control withextensive diagnostic functions

Impuls lasers achieve highproductivity and accuracy bycombining high axis speeds withoptimal cutting conditions over theentire cutting area, using a uniqueconstant beam length system.

In most machines, the divergenceof a laser beam is compensated byuse of a telescope and/or adaptiveoptics. With these systems, however,a variation in cut quality over thecutting area can occur because of a change in the focal position and/or focal spot size. The constantbeam length system of the Impulseliminates the divergence of thelaser beam, ensuring identicalresults over the entire cuttingarea, at optimal speeds, withsuperior edge quality.

The edge function featurefacilitates cutting sharp corners, particularly in thicker plate.

A unique beam length compensation system eliminates thedivergency of the laser beam, ensuring identical cutting resultsat any location within the cutting area at optimal speed.

Integrated GE Fanuc

Laser Package

All LVD lasers systems feature the GE Fanuc laser package.

GE Fanuc, global market leader in CNCs and drive mechanisms,is a major supplier of laser systemswith over 10000 units sold. Thecompany produces a custompackage solution for LVD thatdelivers important benefits forlaser systems users.

The GE Fanuc laser packageincludes a laser, CNC controller, and digital servo drives. The packagegives the user full control over thecutting process with the mostreliable technology in the world.End-users benefit from integralinterfaces, easy installation andstart-up, and a host of additionalfunctions that make laserprocessing more economical.

Impuls systems use a 4, 5 or 6 kWfast axial flow high power CO2

laser with high frequency (HF)excitation utilizing MOSFETsemiconductor technology. Highfrequency resonators are universallyaccepted as extremely reliableand maintenance friendly. Thereis no need to change electrodesdue to erosion or because ofcontamination. These lasers alsoprovide extremely economical use of laser gas (10-20 l/H). Allresonators feature the latest radiofrequency excitation technologyfor high reliability.

■ Cyclone Cleaner Unit: Separatesdust and laser gas by centrifugalforce, keeping the cavity clean. The cyclone cleaner unit collectsdust and prevents it fromadhering to the mirror, reducingcontamination of resonatormirrors and minimizing cleaningrequirements.

■ Photo-catalytic element: Usedto remove contamination fromlaser gas, reducing the need for mirror cleaning. The photo-catalytic element employs aTiO2-coated ceramic ringlocated in the resonator.Ultraviolet rays create a photo catalytic effect, whichdissociates hydrocarbons intocarbon dioxide and water.

Impuls 4030, 6530, 8030 and 12530 laser systems combine highprocessing accuracy and large tablecapacity to uniquely address heavyplate fabrication requirements.

Impuls heavy-duty laser systemsprovide the largest sheet carryingcapacity in the industry with atable capacity of three meters.

These laser systems accommodatemultiple sheets, up to 16 sheets of3 x 1.5 meter material. The ability toload multiple workpieces increasescutting time and reduces materialhandling. Using larger materialsizes also improves sheetsutilization and nesting efficiency.

Impuls systems process flat plateup to 25 mm mild steel, 15 mmaluminum, and 20 mm stainlesssteel. The machines also provide a fully programmable Z-axis withtravel up to 280 mm.

Flexibility is the key to productivityin laser cutting. With the capabilityto process flat plate, pre-formedparts and tubes, the Impuls 4020-Roffers the highest level of flexibilityavailable in the market today.

The standard configurationprovides two shuttle tables and a 280 mm fully programmable Z-axis for use with a rotary axis or for processing pre-formed parts. The shuttle table allows the userto load/unload one table whilethe machine processes flat plateor load the table while processingpre-formed parts. Changeoverfrom flat sheet to rotary can beachieved within seconds.

The Impuls 4020-R processeslarger diameter tubes (up to 500 mm) and pre-formed partsthan any other system and is theonly machine of its type tocombine rotary and flat platecutting with ease for the ultimatein processing flexibility.

The Impuls 4020-R processes tubesup to 500 mm diameter with aweight of 950 kg. Even whenprocessing a single part, the 4020-Ris the ideal tool, since flat sheetcutting can continue during rotaryset-up or loading/unloading ofthe tubes.
