Of certain citizens of the Third Ward, for theremoval of the lime kiln of A. Bridge, and cam-phone factory of E. Wood Perry; of certainvendors of butter, tobe allowed to sell the samein the markets; and of Conrad Stumpf, to be altlowed to erect a blacksmith shop on Montegulstreet-were read and referred to the Committeeon Police.

Two petitions of property owners on Claibornestreet, in favor of the construction of a railroadon said street; of M. O. A communication from Thos. J. Spear, rela-tive to examination of the Levee of First Dis-trict and Carrollton, was read and referred tothe special committee on the prevention of over-flows, etc.

A letter from the Recorder of the Fourth Dis-trict, asking to have stationery, etc., providedfor his office, and asking to have the laws of thelate City of NewOrleans extended to his Dis-trict, was read, and that part relative to sta-tionery was referred to the Comptroller, andthat relativeto extending the laws, etc., to theJudiciary Committee.

A conmuunication from various Heads of Fami-lies, suggesting a list of persons for School Di-rectors for the Third District, was read and laidover subject to call.
