• Warranty does NOT cover:• Cosmetic Damage• Abuse/Misuse of laptops• Lost/Stolen laptops• Fraying of AC power adapter cords• Damage caused by fire, flood or damage normally covered
under other insurance• Ex: If damaged in car accident, would be covered by car ins.• Absence of this type of insurance does not mean laptop is covered by
your warranty• Recommendation: Add laptop to Homeowner’s or Renter’s
Insurance policy.

• Southeast Tech technology resources are for educational purposes only
• User accounts and electronic content are the property of Southeast Tech
• Prohibited network activity includes, but not limited to:• Sending, accessing, uploading, downloading, or distributing offensive, profane,
threatening, or pornographic materials.• Downloading or transmitting games, music, or non-educational videos.
• Note: Downloading of inappropriate items at home and transporting to Southeast Tech is still a violation. This is still Southeast Tech’s network environment.
• Vandalizing, damaging, or disabling property of the school.• Accessing other individual’s files without permission.
• Full technology resources usage policy can be found on:• Southeast Tech website and STInet
• In summary form, every time you click and sign-on to the vPC
STI Network Logon• Wait 1’ on the Blue Ctrl + Alt + Delete Screen (wireless card
needs to activate)• Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete • If you accept the network usage agreement, click Ok and
proceed with logon• User name: firstname.lastname
(i.e. john.smith)• Password: first letter of first name and first letter of last name
followed by last 4 numbers of SSN. (i.e. js1234)
• Press Enter Note: On campus do Ctrl-Alt-Del to change your password if
necessary
Add User Account & Set Privileges• Click the Start Button and select Control Panel• Under User Accounts, click Manage User Accounts• Provide user account authorization• User name: .\administrator• Password: welcome• Click Yes
• Click on Add – type in your firstname.lastname• Domain: SOUTHEASTTECH and click Next• Select the Administrator option• Click Finish and verify that your name is added• Click Ok to close User Accounts• Close Control Panel

Windows 8.1
• Southeast Tech uses Windows 8.1 on campus computers and virtual systems

Configure Office 2013
• Search for the Word Program• Open Word• Supply your user initials (if prompted)• Select Install Updates• This configuration works for all Office Apps
and only needs to be done once on campus
Browsers
• STInet Certified with Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edge
• Use of other browsers has not been tested with STInet• Many browsers update frequently, so if something doesn’t seem
to work in a browser, try a different browser to see if that resolves the issue
• Avoid use of extra toolbars• Toolbars can interfere with features of STInet

• Biographical Info• Check Your Address • Use pencil by Name, Address and Personal Details and fill out
form to update your address. Contact Admissions to update your name or cell phone number.
• Academic Info• Check your Major• Contact Student Success to update
Search Inside STInet
• You will see a search bar in STInet• You can use this to search through any pages
you have access to in STInet
STInet Mobile
• On mobile device (smartphone or tablet), accessing stinet.southeasttech.edu takes you to STInet Mobile
• This includes• Drop/Add courses• View bill• Access courses• View & post in forums• Find instructor email• View Calendar

• “Follow You Printing” - allows you to retrieve your print from any Xerox printer on campus within 24 hours

Laptop Care
• Do Not Store Laptop in Backpack while ON– Hibernate or Power it Down First
• Don’t Pick Up By Lid– Pick Up by Base
• Avoid storing laptop in extreme temperatures – Let warm or cool to room temp before powering on– Spills – Carefully Dab Up Spill– Then Take to IT Support Center to check for damaged components
• Use Laptop on a Hard Surface– Assists in Cooling of Laptop– Fans Work Properly
