Lantek Steelworks integrates Lantek Flex3d, a sophisticated 3D software system designed to control the production and manufacturing of steel products and prefabricated structures. Lantek Steelworks is more than just software. It is a complete solution enabling all company processes to be managed from the vision to the completion of the goal.

Because Lantek Steelworks is integrated with Building Information Modeling Systems, such as Tekla Structures®, it drastically reduces programming time and eliminates rework.

Structural components from the BIM Detail are imported and the progress of the project is automatically updated in the model.

Lantek maximises the profitability of manufacturing processes with Lantek ManagerWith this new system, Lantek simplifies and speeds up all the production processes, optimising costs and delivery dates to the maximum.

Lantek extends its catalogue of solutions with the launch of Lantek Manager, an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) system that allows you to manage the manufacturing processes of the workshop, from the delivery of the work order to the finished product.

This new solution, Lantek Manager, provides an effective answer to these needs, offering the user the possibility of knowing in real time what manufacturing stage each part of an order is in. In addition, it allows you to have an improved vision and greater control when defining the work to be carried out in the workshop, as this system offers the possibility of considering different factors simultaneously,

such as the date required, the customer, sales order, machine, material and thickness, among many others.

“With the launch of this solution we give continuity to Lantek’s innovative strategy, in addition to our commitment to our customers, with whom

we collaborate closely to offer them cutting-edge technologies that provide value and competitive advantages”, states Karmelo Osa, Product Manager at Lantek. “Lantek Manager allows you to coordinate and maximise the profitability of all the decisive production processes.

Domain-driven design

For some time now, Domain-driven design has been gaining momentum in software engineering. In this article, you may find a great introduction to this software engineering approach, which we might define as software designed with a focus on customers’ needs.

Design focussed on customers’ needs requires a perfect understanding of customers’ business issues and the context in which problems appear. A knowledge of that context (which we shall refer to as “domain”) facilitates problem resolution while simplifying our communication with customers through a common language. In addition, this is reflected in our software design which, in accordance with certain guidelines (those that identify entities, aggregates, repositories, value objects), presents a domain-specific logic, a layer populated with names and operations expressed in the common language.

Admittedly, the foregoing overlaps with the traditional architectural style of logical N-layers. However, there are differences in how both approaches assign responsibilities to system components. Given that analyzing and confirming these differences would go beyond the scope of this article, we

Lantek is committed to innovation and the constant improvement of its solutions. This section, led by one of our developers, introduces the latest news from the world of technology as well as expert hints to get the most out of your software.

shall consider the diagram contained in the abovementioned article as a relevant example.

Does this sound familiar? They are similar, although they display certain differences. Fortunately, a Spanish group of architects has recently published a superb guide in Spanish with Microsoft Ibérica’s support. It is entitled “N-layer domain-driven architecture guide with .NET 4.0”, available in the common document formats (e.g., PDF and XPS) and eBook formats (EPUB, Mobipocket, and Kindle).

The guide is complemented by an illustrative application available in Codeplex, including Windows Presentation Foundation, Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC, and Windows Phone clients.

Beyond its primary purpose, the application may be utilized as a light introduction to Entity Framework 4.0, Windows Identity Foundation, and Windows Azure.

Full details on this initiative are available on the MSDN Architecture Centre.

When I have combination machine and wanting evacuate punched part, I could only do manual evacuation. Why?

The Combination machine we are con-sidering here is combining Punch and Cut. Use the Cut to complement the irregular shape because the punch tool cannot do this properly and usually, the exterior part is cut. In the usual case of a cut part, there is the possibility of achieving automatic part extraction via Trap. The punched part, therefore, could only be evacuated by the user choosing the manual evacuation op-tion. The other way would be to define another machine as purely punching and to deal with fully punched parts.
