Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words.Working partnership. Creative. Fun. Inspiring.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015?To meet great people and build new working partnerships.

What is the biggest / most notable project your product has been used in?Size isn’t everything. We do not tend to target the larger glossy companies as there are a lots of smaller projects that we love to get involved in.

If you could work with any Garden Designer who would it be and why?Students and newcomers to the industry – they tend to be open minded and willing to draw on the expertise we have on site for help and advice.

Do you follow us on Twitter?Certainly do!

Meet Richard McKennaManaging Director

Why did you choose to book a Stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?We felt we should try the Landscape Show as a new platform for attracting new customers.

What sort of people are you hoping to meet?Potential new customers that are looking for great plants and a dynamic new supplier.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? The best product is what makes our clients happy and each is individual in their own right. Many of our customers use the same product in different ways.

Page 5: Landscape The Interviews

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Designers, contractors, clients new and old.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? Better than expected.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? 2014 was a great mix of exhibitors, not too many of any one type, which made for an interesting visitor list and hence a great atmosphere. I hope that 2015 will be the same.

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc) Possibly some technical seminars...not product specific, as that just becomes a sales pitch, but something that will engage and educate those attending.

Are there any particular topics you would like to see covered in the Seminar Programme? The new British Standards (BSEN 7533) for laying paving and setts is due out in 2015. This updates and simplifies the current standards and the issues and solution therein can and should be used by designers for both garden landscape and streetscape design.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Our new Emperor Porcelain. That says something, when a stone man says Porcelain!

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. “Britain’s best Natural Stone Specialist”.

What inspires you? Good Ideas, tenacity, success and coffee. I hate people that can’t be bothered. I love those that just get on and “do”. There is no such thing as impossible. Impossible is just for those that can’t be bothered to make it possible.

If you could travel anywhere in the World where would you go and why? Antarctica. One of the last almost totally unspoilt regions left in the world and one of the most difficult places in the world to live. And no mobile phone networks.

Meet Giles HeapManaging Director

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show? We needed a London show to exhibit at and this years talks were very interesting. We decided that with the range of exhibitors and wide variety of talks/seminars and conferences, it was very likely that this was to be “the” show if the year.

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?A very persuasive young man beguiled me with talk of how important it was that the fencing industry should be represented in the show and how my opinion was needed in the organisation of the show, so I joined the steering committee. He was quite right though, it is a good show and it is important that the fencing industry is represented.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? The ‘usual suspects’ from the landscaping and garden designing world.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? It matched, and more!

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? It was unthinkable that we wouldn’t be there in 2015, it has become one of the best landscaping shows in the year.

Meet Louise TomlinMarketing Manager

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc) I think the variety of subjects is pretty wide, maybe we could talk more about fencing and timber treatment? Maybe I could?

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? I love our new Woven Retreat garden shelter – we had it on our stand at Battersea

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Outstanding, original and the best

If you could work with any garden designer who would it be and why? I couldn’t possibly comment on this, as I know far too many of them now and it just wouldn’t be a good move politically – sorry!

What did you want to be / do when you were younger? It varied sometimes a member of the Mounted Police force, sometimes a dancer, or a farmer.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? The Far East probably, I lived in Singapore as a child and would love to go back there to explore more and see what’s changed.

Page 7: Landscape The Interviews

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?I visited the show in 2013 and was pleasantly surprised but the interest and visitors the show had attracted this gave us the encouragement to book our place for 2014.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Landscape Designers, architects specifies, end users and Landscape contractors.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? Our expectations were far and pleasantly exceeded.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? After 2014 it was a must to be at the show in 2015.

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc)More involvement from the Lighting Industry.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Anything small and Discrete and of course Led.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Exciting, Dynamic, Stylish, Morden and Affordable.

What did you want to be / do when you were younger?I wanted to be involved with Electronics in some way.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do and why? Travel more, I travel lot in my role but never get to see anywhere.

What is your favourite season and why?Autumn, start of the lighting season

Page 8: Landscape The Interviews

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?We started our export business 4 years ago in France and Benelux with a huge success. End of 2013, we have analysed the landscaping market in different other countries. After an unexpected but very important first order from a gardener based near London, we decided to focus on the UK market – with LANDSCAPE being the perfect opportunity.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? We got in contact with distributors, gardeners and landscapers as well as with landscape designers.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? We were very satisfied about our first participation. Our product range of Pergone® fences, raised beds or wall covering seemed not to be well-known on the market and the response from every person we were speaking with was very positive.

Meet AxelDericumExport Manager

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Pergone® fence 23 cm.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Company: Quality and innovation Made in Germany.Products: filigree, robust, maintenance free, trendy.

What is your most memorable moment at LANDSCAPE? We met there a new potential distributor for the Middle East.

Which is your favourite season of the year? Why? Summer. It’s warm and sunny (sometimes) and a good season for our business.

Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?Private: My son Cédric – Business: My boss Klaus

Most memorable moment in your career? No idea (this moment is still to come…).

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Mature plants – quality – excellence – professional.

Meet Andrew HalksworthManaging Director

You have exhibited at the LANDSCAPE Show since 2011, what is it about the Show that keeps you coming back? Of the commercial shows in the industry the Landscape show presents a friendly professional event where suppliers, trade customers can meet in a relaxed venue, and each year delivers quality speakers.

Meet AlanLowryManaging Director

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? We had originally Exhibited in 2013 where we had realised the show brings visitors who are our ‘type of crowd’ it is drawing in the people we want to talk too, who we want to show our products off too. So whenever the opportunity arose for 2014, we certainly jumped at the chance and had seen yet again, the potential business that it is bringing us. 2015 is a new year and with new products being manufactured we certainly want to show them of and grow throughout the UK & Ireland.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Signature, Sustainable, Simplicity & Streetwise.

Which famous person have you been told you resemble? There is always one that keeps coming up, Phil (The Power) Taylor.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given? If you have a name for getting up early in the morning, you can stay in bed all day.

Do you follow us on Twitter?Of course we do!

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?Environmental Street Furniture chose to exhibit at the Landscape show to promote our extensive range of street furniture products.

We recognised that it would be the ideal show to exhibit our products at with the range of potential targets we knew would be at the show.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? The people we had on our radar were architects, landscape architects, specifiers, council procurement, potential clients that we could work with on up and coming jobs or in the future.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? Our experience at Landscape was fantastic, with everyone our whole team had spoken too, there was a certain buzz in the air. We had expected to make a few clients, but that reality was, almost everyone we had spoken to was a potential client for our line of work.

Page 11: Landscape The Interviews

Why did you choose to book a Stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?We chose to book a stand at the Landscape Show because we’d attended previously and have been really impressed by the growth of the show in recent years. The show is a wonderful opportunity to meet landscapers and the professional atmosphere that the show has creates an enjoyable environment for visitors. Another major factor in our decision was last year’s inclusion of the Young Hort conference as it showed that the Landscape Show was at the forefront of supporting a wide range of horticulturalists.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? We’re interested in speaking to landscapers, designers and contractors tailoring to both domestic and commercial projects. Our extensive product range means that we are able to provide hard landscaping materials for any project size or budget.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Our Flamingo Pebbles and chippings are a favourite of most of the team, they are products that we exclusively supply in the UK and they look fantastic in most gardens with their unique blend of colours.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Reliable, Experienced, Comprehensive, Aggregate, Range.

Are there any particular topics you would like to see covered in the Seminar Programme? Seminars with landscapers are particularly interesting as they allow us to see what is important to our cus-tomers on a wider scale, it’s also great to find out what they enjoy about their projects and the challenges they face when dealing with clients and suppliers. We’d also really like to see seminars about landscaping in public spaces and how the overall perception of horticulture is changing in schools, the government and the media.

What is your most memorable moment in your career? A notable project which we were delighted to be in-volved in was the Olympic Park in 2012 where we sup-plied a range of dried materials as part of resin bonded systems which covered wide areas of the park.

If you could work with any garden designers who would it be and why? We’d really like to work further with Young Designers, particularly members of Young Hort as they expand their designing and landscaping capabilities. Last year’s show highlighted how important it was to build a strong rapport with customers and we feel that our values mean that we can offer support and experience to designers and contractors looking to develop.

Meet Millie Barlow

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015? We expect to network with visitors who are from the landscaping community, to learn about what they need from their suppliers and what environment they enjoy working in.

Why did you choose to book a Stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?We see Landscape as the UK’s leading industry show, its very much part of our plans for 2015, to reach out and engage more business-to-business opportunities.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Landscape architects, Designers and more of the nation’s top landscaping professionals that don’t know about us yet.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? That’s a difficult one. If I could only choose one, it would have to be our Tree benches. We’re the UK’s no.1 when it comes to tree benches.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Quality Teak for landscaping professionals.

Are there any particular topics you would like to see covered in the Seminar Programme? Timber Education…I am constantly surprised to learn just how little landscaping professionals know about timber. It’s not just about buying responsibly and sustainability, it’s about understanding timber species and suitability for purpose.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015? I’ve heard a lot of good things about the show. I missed the last one (I was visiting our workshops in the far East) so I hope it lives up to the hype.

What is your most memorable moment in your career? When I was a young designer in my twenties, I designed the Prime Ministers kitchen and kitchens in the Palaces of the Sultan of Oman.

What inspires you? As a furniture designer by profession, I am influenced by absolutely everything I see. Good design is all around you.

Meet AnneCurrySculptor

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc) As a sculptor, obviously a seminar on the place of sculpture in landscaping.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? My latest sculpture, Shadow of the Dune, which I am hoping to display at next year Landscape Show.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Sculpture for the Large Garden.

If you could work with one garden designer who would it be and why? My absolute star garden designer is Jacques Wirtz, who has worked all over Europe and, with a deceptively effortless restraint, creates unfussy, elegant spaces which are unforgettable.

What inspires you? The pattern of growth and the innate energy of plant forms.

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show? The Landscape Show is a convenient gathering of the landscape industry.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Professionals of the landscape industry exhibiting there or visiting.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? I did not know what to expect, having never “done” a show before. But I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the organisation, the number of visitors and the response to my own particular stand.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? To repeat the experience and gain more exposure.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? It was important for us to push our company and the brands we represent, we wished to meet Designers, Architects, & Landscapers, in general industry members. Our market is quite specialised and we want to show to an entire audience.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? Good. Like everything it takes time to introduce something to market, Landscape Show gave us the initial step.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? During the 4 years I have followed the exhibition it has grown considerably year by year, that tells me it’s taken seriously by the industry, I like that, and I see the show as part of our vehicle forward.

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc) Irrigation is used extensively in the Landscape market yet there is still an element of ‘dark art’. In 2014 the show was witness to an expansion of Irrigation companies exhibiting attributed by good press. I think irrigation should be addressed with topics surrounding efficiency and good practices.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Human, Efficient, Competitive, Innovative, Exciting.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Difficult to answer, strangely I am enthusiastic about lots we promote. If I were to choose one product range it would be ‘sensors’ - R&D has invested millions into intelligent control systems that listen to environmental sensors. Sensors are a large contributor to efficient water practices & should be used in all projects where an Irrigation scheme is installed.

What is your most memorable moment at LANDSCAPE 2014? A quote “I’m glad you are here, I want to learn as much about Irrigation as possible, I came here to see your company” – Landscape architect.

What is the most notable / biggest project that your product has been used in? Royal Gardens

Who is your favourite historical figure? Baden Powel

Meet Jimmy SandisonWhy did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show? Landscape Show appeared dedicated to the entire market from glitz to commercial aspects of the industry.

CALL FOR A

Meet AliceFoster

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? I think it was because we got such a good reception from everyone that we met, it seemed to be our real target market. We get repeat orders from the designers so they are ideal for us! All the people that we met were just the right people we needed to speak to, and we’ve had a couple of orders from it already! Really good! We thought we’ll go again next year and hopefully meet some more people who haven’t heard of us.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Our 12mm gap Privacy Screening. It’s a popular product because it looks more contemporary and at the moment it seems this is what people are going for.

What is your most memorable moment at the LANDSCAPE Show? I think it was probably meeting somebody I’d met at the Gardener’s World Live Show who had seen us there and placed an order through one of her clients and come to the LANDSCAPE Show. I didn’t know she was coming but it was so nice to see her, had a great catch up and she was able to tell us what she thought of the product. She asked a couple of questions I was able to answer and for some more samples which she might not have thought to do if she hadn’t seen us there.

What is your favourite book? My favourite writer is Caitlin Moran, I’ve read her ‘How to Be a Woman’ – that’s one of my favourites. Books never make me laugh out loud but hers did!

What did you want to be when you were younger?A farmer’s wife and I wanted to own a sweet shop!

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?My Director found out that one of our competitors was going to be showing there so we thought if they were there then it was going to be a good place for us to go too. We did some research and thought it looked great so we signed up!

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? The week before we had done the GLEE Show at the NEC and we found that it wasn’t really the right type of visitor for us as its manly big suppliers for garden centres which we don’t really have the margins for, we are more aimed at garden designers. We were hoping to meet the Garden Designers and we did - which was good!

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? I went not knowing what to expect! It was great when I got there. It was more intimate and you could have a much better conversation with the people who came onto the stand.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Quality, Value, High-end, Express Service

Page 17: Landscape The Interviews

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?To embark on another market that we haven’t really touched on before.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Landscape professionals, landscape architects and other businesses such as ourselves.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? It did meet our expectations – definitely! We met quite a few of our existing customers as well as prospective new one and left with a vast number of leads - so we are quite happy with that.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015? It’s always difficult to gage whether it’s been a successful Show initially as you don’t know what the enquiries will lead to in the future. But the first signs were really good so that’s why we signed up again.

What would you like to see more of at the Show next year? Feature areas – it would be nice to have an area in which there could be demonstrations of various products and we could show our play equipment.

Are there any particular topics you would like to see covered in the Seminar Programme? Maybe there could be a seminar based on playground design or public space would be most helpful, especially for park and open space focused people.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Playground Equipment, Online, Spares and Repairs.

What is your most memorable moment in your career? Exhibiting at the LANDSCAPE Show!

What is your favourite film? The Notebook

If you could meet any famous person who would it be and why? Stephen Fry because he would be really really good company.

Meet IanBaileyManaging Director

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Craft. Design. Function. Beauty.

Are there any particular topics you would like to see covered in the Seminar Programme? The growing role of #BIM within landscape design.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015? Making connections with the UK’s leading landscape architects and design firms. Gaining a greater under-standing of their specific needs and finding solutions together.

What is your most memorable moment in your career? Selling my first street furniture company to a publicly quoted company.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do and why? Travel because there are still so many things to see.

What is your favourite film? Toy Story (the original)…can’t believe that was 20 years ago!

Who is your favourite figure from history? Winston Churchill.

What type of social media do you use the most? As a company we love connecting and sharing through Twitter & Linkedin but Pinterest is also great because our clients are so visually driven and we have so many great looking products.

Do you follow us on Twitter? Silly question…yes of course! And thanks for following back.

Why did you choose to book a Stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?We were already scheduled to visit the 2014 ASLA Expo (American Society of Landscape Architects) in Denver Colorado as guests of our partners Landscape Forms who were the lead sponsor. So we decided we needed to do the UK’s equivalent top exhibition when we returned, which is of course the LANDSCAPE Show!

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Landscape architects who care passionately about great design and want something special when specifying urban furniture to complement their projects.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? At the moment, definitely anything from our MutipliCITY range which was designed by Yves Behar. It’s not just because of the smart looks and intelligent design, but the fact that the client can swap and choose local sustainable materials for the benches to match the rest of their scheme design. Very cool.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015? We want to introduce our products to a wider audience, talk directly to potential clients and gauge interest face to face. There is broad appeal across our product range, we currently supply to both commercial and domestic schemes and we hope to grow our business in both areas.

Page 23: Landscape The Interviews

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations?LANDSCAPE Show 2014 was a very positive experience for us, exceeding our expectations. Indeed, the visitors’ enthusiasm was an amazing feed-back of our products.

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc)LANDSCAPE Show is a technically rich event, I mean, there you can find very interesting seminars as well a set of exhibitors focused on landscape theme! Meet Dave ArcherDirector

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015?We would like to replicate what we have done this year but do it on a bigger scale from the point of view of seeing even more customers – potentially this might be the only time of year we could see them. It will allow us to meet up with existing clients, take on new customers and build an increasing portfolio of clients – those are the main reasons for rebooking for next year already.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product?Going on how this year performed our Richmond Artificial Grass was a huge success. It is one of the premium range artificial grasses that we have, it looks like a really grass. Most of the people who visited the stand said that what made it unique was that the grass was really soft to touch and had a life-like feel. Our grasses, especially the Richmond, has a really soft feel to it and they really notice that. Because they were at the Show they had the opportunity to feel it and touch it and it did change some people’s minds about what artificial grass was all about.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?Listen. Always listen.

What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?Sea slugs – on a boat in Ibiza! And they were nice actually.

What is your favourite film?Kelly’s Heroes – it’s a Clint Eastwood film!

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?It was a great opportunity to showcase artificial grass products, some of which were new for the 2015 season. That was the primary objective and at the same time, by doing that, getting ourselves and our name known with the landscapers, architects & designers that are out there and didn’t already know us.

What it has meant for us, over those two days, we got ourselves introduced and connected with just under 100 new people that we didn’t know before, that were new to us and we were new to them.

It has been a very positive experience.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Definitely the landscapers, landscape architects and designers. All the people we met and visited us on our stand were those types of people.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Artificial Grass, Premium, High-Quality, Practical.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015?Following the success of LANDSCAPE 2014, there was simply no question for us in taking part in next year’s event.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? It’s difficult to pin point one product as the Tobermore product collection is so diverse and there are endless aesthetic and practical benefits with each variety.

I do feel that the Hydropave permeable paving and eco paving ranges are particularly innovative. As flooding has become an issue in the UK in recent years, the Hydropave permeable paving range offers the versatility of our standard and most popular paving products, allows the creation of spectacular hard landscaping features while reducing the risk of flooding.

What did you want to be/do when you were younger?I have always wanted to work in sales due to the fact that this was my father’s profession and I have always been in awe of his success and achievements. In following in his footsteps I wanted to make him proud. Tobermore is the type of company I dreamed of be-coming part of with the amazing brand reputation and the quality products that we sell which makes my job an absolute pleasure.

The LANDSCAPE Show is an event both myself and Tobermore feel is extremely relevant as the clientele that the show attracts are some of Tobermore key targets.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? In exhibiting at the show, I hoped to network with both new and experienced / senior garden designers, landscaping contractors, architects, specifiers and housing developers to discuss Tobermore’s beautiful hard landscaping solutions.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Exquisite, Colourful, Mature Japanese Maples.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015?To see a good range of products and services offered to the landscape and design sector so that we can attract the right client to LANDSCAPE 2015, something that you succeeded to do in 2014.

What is your most memorable moment of working at Tamata?Seeing the stock arrive from New Zealand. It arrived in August in a refrigerated shipping container. It had been travelling for 6 weeks with the contents kept at a cool 1 degree so that the plants can experience a winter. When the door opened and the stock unloaded, they all looked a bit sorry for themselves but just a few weeks later and they burst into life in a magnificent display of colour, truly breath-taking.

What is your favourite film?Far too many to list! I have watched far too many and like comedy to horror and all in between.

If you could travel anywhere in the World where would you go and why?I loved San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas when I did a tour a number of years ago and would love to go back again but now I have travelled most of the U.S. I would like to go in the other direction and visit the Far East. Who knows maybe one day go a little further a get an invite to New Zealand and see the Acers in their home.

What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?Frogs legs and never again!.

Why did you choose to book a stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?I came along to the show in 2014 to see who was exhibiting but also to see who the show was attracting in terms of visitors. When I saw the high quality of the buyers and end users walking the stands, I knew that this was a show that had huge potential for our business especially as our product is one that has to be seen.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Garden Centre Buyers, Nursery Managers, Garden Designers, Landscapers, Local Authorities and developers.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? Our product range is growing every year but one of my favourites has always been ‘Emerald Lace’. It’s a fast growing Dissectum variety that has yellow-green, lacy foliage in spring which darkens in summer and then shades bright burgundy-red in the autumn. It can grow to 3-4 metres.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words.Reliable, Customer Focused, Affordable, Better.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015?Nustone has high expectations for LANDSCAPE 2015. I believe our presence will be good for our company, our customers and for the event. It is important for us to be able to represent what our brand stands for in person. We’re also excited about developing long-term and mutually beneficial relationships.

What is your most memorable moment of working at Nustone? This has to be the day we received our first container of stone paving. Unfortunately our container ramp had not yet arrived which meant a colleague and I had to empty the container by hand and it took us till 2am to complete. On the plus side I knew things could only get better after that ordeal.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do and why?I don’t think I’ll ever retire, business is truly one of my passions. If I were to retire, I would dedicate most of my time to helping underprivileged children with the hope to support and empower them during their journey.

What is your favourite film?Gladiator.

Do you follow us on Twitter?I do follow @landscapeevent on Twitter.

Why did you choose to book a stand at the LANDSCAPE Show? The LANDSCAPE Show has established itself as a leading trade event. The Landscape Show will be an opportunity for us to say thank you to our existing customers in person and establish relationships with new customers. In both cases we’re keen to understand the needs of our customers and we always aim to exceed their expectations.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product?Blue-Black Slate Paving has to be my favourite product. The colour, texture and timeless appearance will always be a winner for me.

DESIGN & MANUFACTURE SINCE 1954

Meet AndrewBarringer

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words.Exceptional UK manufactured garden structures.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015?To build on our trade relationships already established with designers and landscapers through The SGD and BALI.

What is your most memorable moment of working at Harrod Horticultural? There have been many as no two days are ever the same, but the most memorable was informing the managing director we had secured our first order for a royal household (which for the first time rendered her speechless)– but I can’t tell you which one!

What did you want to be / do when you were younger?A grown up! Seriously though, as long as it involved being outside as much as possible and not sitting at a desk that was all I wanted to do. Working at Harrod Horticultural is a fantastic blend of visiting the most amazing private estates and gardens advising on our UK designed and manufactured products and working with our designers on bespoke structures.

What is the biggest / most notable project your products have been used in?A top secret project filming at the moment with a Michelin starred Chef which will air in the spring – covering everything from specifying products into a kitchen garden, planting and harvesting right through to the recipes to use your crops - literally ‘from fork to fork’.

other exhibitors and the fantastic social media support which really helped build up a lot of interest throughout the industry prior to the event in 2014.

What sort of people are you hoping to meet?Designers, Landscapers, Architects and Contract Specifiers, it would also be great to talk students through our range of products and how structures are used within garden design and the possibilities of our manufacturing capabilities.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? It would have to be our Roman Arch – it is our bestselling product – AND I have one in my own garden so when I’m talking designers and landscapers through the options I can help them visualise everything from delivery and installation through to planting.

Trade DevelopmentManagerWhy did you choose to book a stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?We were so impressed with the number of visitors, quality and experience of speakers – along with the breadth of subjects,

Meet Angela Lambert& ChrisCarr

Are there any particular topics you would like to see covered in the Seminar Programme?Marketing: How to sell your business – branding, advertising, exhibiting, the whole mix.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? It’s not on the market yet so I can’t tell you. My second favourite product is the Traditional Meadowmat.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words.On-trend, delightful, uncomplicated, friendly, comforting.

If you could work with one garden designer who would it be and why?Maxine from maxyourgarden. She’s practical, down to earth and doesn’t get carried away with her own image. Plus, she’d let me get my hands dirty.

What did you want to be / do when you were a child?A vet. I loved the TV series about James Herriott and spent every spare moment either working in the local boarding kennels or helping my friend Jo with her horses.

What inspires you?My Grandsons. They’re brutally honest and they see the things that I stopped noticing years ago… like worms and beetles. They remind me that my personal needs are insignificant compared to the future of the planet.

Do you follow us on Twitter?Sure do! And thanks for all the retweets by the way.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015?As above, we like the venue, the atmosphere, the welcome and the quality of the visitors. It brought us new business in 2013 and 2014 so rebooking was a no-brainer.

What would you like to see more of at LANDSCAPE 2015? (seminars, feature areas etc)What about themed feature areas where exhibitors can show their products in-situ? Maybe a roof terrace, an interior design, a cottage garden, a courtyard garden --- these could become seating areas where visitors can relax with a coffee and pick up a brochure or two. OR it could be a virtual display, allowing visitors to “put” exhibitors products into different situations

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?We exhibited in 2013 and the show was very successful for us.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet?Quality visitors – potential buyers and specifiers from right across the landscape industry.

Page 45: Landscape The Interviews

From the Smallest Garden to the Largest ParkLeading Producers of Quality Nursery Stock

01233 813340

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Landscape Architects from London practises and Garden Designers as well as Contractors and possibly some GreenSpace Managers too.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? With a product range of some 2500 different plants, shrubs, perennials and trees it is difficult to have a favourite. My home garden is a bit of a test bed. As a nursery we always try to satisfy the need of our customers, they or their designers choose the plants to include in their schemes. Therefore we aim to grow a range of good performing plants which we know will succeed and give good long term value. And we are always on hand to help and guide designers if they want some advice.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. All the plants you want. Total plant lists serviced.

What are your expectations of LANDSCAPE 2015?To meet lots of Landscape and Garden professionals – hopefully we will know some but would like to meet new ones too.

What is the biggest / most notable project your product has been used in?We were suppliers into the London Olympic Park for shrubs and perennials but supply into hundreds of projects improving the environment. Our plants feature in many Award winning schemes in: BALI, APL, SGD, RHS and Li Awards.

If you could work with any Garden Designer who would it be and why?At Palmstead we are fortunate to work with many Garden Designers both known names such as Andy Sturgeon and new entrants. We welcome the opportunity of being part of their team. I’d love to work with Dan Pearson on the Garden Bridge as it will be a real challenge to grow plants tough enough to live above the Thames.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do and why?Write a plant book for Landscapers, all the current plant books tend to be for gardeners, partly because it’s a bigger market place. However plants which perform in the plant and walk away world of landscape need better highlighting for professionals. There is an almost insatiable appetite for information on how to use plants better. I don’t know all the answers by far but I’d like to write/facilitate a book or web site which incorporates other plant experts views observations too.

Do you follow us on Twitter?Hopefully I’ll check – though I have some Luddite tendencies.

Meet NickCoslettWhy did you choose to book a stand at the LANDSCAPE Show?Because it offers the Palmstead team an opportunity to meet and interact with our target customer audience.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product?I like the diversity of our products. We don’t just sell tulips and daffodils. For example in Holland Bulb Market’s Spring brochure 2015 we offer bulbs, perennials, fruits, vegetables, flowering shrubs, hedging, trees – pretty much all a keen gardener needs to plant up a garden.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words.Right service, right price!

What is your most memorable moment at LANDSCAPE 2014?Explaining to a visitor (student) that our flower bulbs were not onions!!

If you could work with one garden designer who would it be and why?I would like to work with Katie Rushworth – young, exciting new designer with bags of ideas.

What did you want to be / do when you were a child?Jewellery designer.

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?Holland Bulb Market wanted to promote our products in England and specifically to landscapers, designers and local authorities. We found the Dutch Pavilion stand a nice idea for a reasonable introduction price.

What sort of people are you hoping to meet?Bulk buyers of flower bulbs and perennials.

How did your experience of the LANDSCAPE Show match your expectations? We received lots of interest from designers, buying small amounts and we found this a good start for a first time exhibitor. We were also surprised how much lack of knowledge there was regarding the versatility of flower bulbs in planting schemes.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015?We feel that one year is not enough to target such an audience and make our presence known in the market. Therefore we have booked again. We also found the location great and the people we talked to very professional. @landscapeevent

Why did you choose to exhibit at the LANDSCAPE Show?Because the show is located in a gorgeous city and park and at a great time of the year. We thought that the Landscape Show is a good one to show our product to the British market and it attracts the public we want to meet.

What sort of people were you hoping to meet? Just the kind of people we met there. Landscape professionals, people who work around landscape designs, building and maintenance of green spaces.

Why did you rebook for LANDSCAPE 2015?Because we expect getting more projects & contacts in the future. We must keep showing Florfit to the professional market, it is a great product, and they must know it.

Out of your current range what is your favourite product? It Depends!! What for? I can not choose just one. There are many.

Sum up your company & your products in less than 5 words. Practical & Easy & Quick & Clever & Clean & Beautiful.

What is the biggest/most notable project your product has been used in? Always the next one is the most important and it’s difficult downplaying some others developed in the past. If I have to choose, the most notable could be four years ago, when Flofit dressed the gardens of some palaces of the Spanish Royal Family. It was coloristic and romantic.

Now we are working on another very interesting project for the city of Barcelona where we are developing the use of Florfit with perennial and semi perennials plants to be applied in different situations.

But, not in the least can forget some other projects, with particular difficulties. Probably no so bigs, but not less interesting..

If you could travel anywhere in the World where would you go and why? Difficult!!!!! I love many places, and it depends on the day, probably somewhere in South America. I can’t say a country, could be a seaside place in the Coast of Pacific sea. Beaches, warm weather, sunny......you know, relaxed!!

Do you follow us on Twitter?Yes, of course!!! There I get some interesting news about the show.

The abstract nature of the surrounding agricultural landscape and vernacular buildings has informed the design, resulting in a house with a simple linear form with a horizontal emphasis.  Small diff erences in height make a big diff erence to what you can see in a fl at landscape so three datums were struck across the site expressed in bands of slate, white render and timber cladding to mark the viewing platforms.

On the ground fl oor, areas of glazing set up close, sensual relationships with the garden whilst the fi rst fl oor off ers a more detached experience of the landscape with long views framed like pictures on the wall.

The sweet chestnut clad box overhangs the ground fl oor so that from across the fi elds it looks like it is fl oating over the hedgerows.

To the rear of the house, swathes of long grasses and meadow flowers are animated by the breeze giving the terrace a wharf-like feel.
