Independence! President Theodore Roosevelt once famously said that “this country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in.” Since our country’s founding on our “birthday” of July4, 1776, Americans of all backgrounds have come together to celebrate our independence in many fashions, with picnics, parades, fireworks and baseball games among the featured day’s events. (America’s hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia is a particularly fascinating place to spend this most American of holidays; where else can you see “Thomas Jefferson” read the Declaration of Independence from the steps of the courthouse of the town in which he actually lived, then watch a drum and bugle corps parade down the same streets walked by President George Washington?) No matter where you spend July 4th, the day is a reminder that America has been a beacon of freedom and tolerance and, with only ONE form of government for over 200 years, has been a model for other nations to follow. With all the problems that we may face, we are still blessed to be Americans. Let’s continue the work of the Founders and strive to make this country a better place for all its’ citizens. Have a fun, safe July 4th! The Bahamas also observes its fortieth year of independence on July 10, but the celebrations are not limited to just one day; the island nation revels in its autonomy all through the month of July. After 300 years as a royal colony, Prince Charles of Great Britain witnessed the official independence ceremony in 1973. Since Bahamians are known for their love of festivities (i.e. Junkanoo) it’s only natural that the party last longer than just one day! This year’s scheduled events include National Pride Day on July 5 th , various fun run/walks on July 6 th , the Sir Lynden Pindling Legacy Ball on July 6 th , the National Independence Cycling Championships on July 7 th , a 3 a.m. Junkanoo Rushout on Independence Day, July 10 th , and various concerts and parades throughout the month. Praise for the Blue Lagoon Seafood Restaurant at Club Land’or

We do not have the words to tell you how good the food and the service are. We have even taken the all inclusive package and found it to be a great value. My favorite is the Fettucine while my wife's is the steak au poivre. But, the chateaubriand, rack of lamb should be in the gustatory hall of fame. Highly recommend The Blue Lagoon. One last word, visit often enough and you will cease to be guests - you will become family .....

TripAdvisor Review of May 18,2013

We have been going to the Blue Lagoon for over 15 years. Never once have we been disappointed with the food or service…..This is the last place which shows its customers the true Bahamian flair and what it stands for. No restaurant I repeat none can shine the shoes of the Club....
