Island Mode Case Study
• Site became operational in March 2010
• Final part of year long plan with total Project costs: €3.3M
─ CHP costs £2.2M
• Major part in climate change and energy reduction programme launched by GSK in 2007
• 25% reduction in energy bills
• Energy cost reduction: £1M per annum
• Payback: 3 years
• Supply:
─ 2 x ENER-G 1MW CHP units (E1030CA) = 2060kWe
─ Jacket heat water recovery 1200kWth
─ Steam Boiler = 2 tonne per hour
─ Island mode operation
• Site reduces CO2 output by 15%, saving 1900
tonnes of carbon annually
• 12 months from order to beneficial use
• Site can produce: 16,000,000 kWh of electricity, 16000 tonnes of steam and 10,000,000 kWh of hot water
