Comprehensive Plan Update• The Goals, Objectives & Policies to be reviewed and updated as needed

• GOPs most recently updated in 2010; • Additional GOPs to be added related to sustainability, climate change

and sea level rise;• Coordinated with LDC to avoid inconsistencies and other City

documents such as City Park Master Plan.

• The Data, Inventory & Analysis to be reviewed and updated as needed• Utilizes 1990 Census data, not updated since 1995; • Substantially updated with current data, inventory and maps.

Land Development Code UpdateEnsure that amendments are consistent with existing City rules and codes and achieve the City’s goals and objectives.

• Many amendments have produced changes that further the City’s goals in growth management • Example – Lot Split Ordinance requirements for tree protection and preservation;• Example – Tree Preservation Ordinance;

• Other amendments have lead to inconsistencies or problems with the application of rules • Example – Definitions located in over 10 different sections; • Example – Hometown District Overlay allowed uses vs. underlying zoning district allowed uses;

• The LDC lacks many concepts found in more modern codes• Examples – Requirements for “green” buildings and sustainability, climate change;

• Other areas of the LDC have not been amended recently and/or are in need of review • Example – Zoning district uses and Parking regulations;• Example – Temporary sign regulations
