Grantor: John Lax & A. H. Rose
Grantee: B. T. Whitmore, Executor for Chandler Source: Hardeman County TN Deed Book J, pg. 25 Date: 16 February 1847 Notes: 237 acres / Quit Claim Deed Whereas by deed from Ann H. Coleman Executrix & Hawes H. Coleman & Richard
Coleman Executors of W. H. Coleman decd We Burwell T. Whitmore Executor and
Mary Chandler Executors of Edward T. Chandler decd being the legal representatives
of the said Edward T. Chandler decd A. H. Rose & John Lax have title to & now hold
undivided interests in the following tract or parcel of land lying in the State of Tennessee
Hardeman County & Civil District No. 2 & bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake in a
field a Black gum pointer the North West corner of Entry No 874 for 190 acres made in
the name of W. Bryant & Runs east 200 poles to a stake two Red Oak pointers its N E
corner, Thence south (with the) west boundary of Entry No 853 for 640 acres 74 in all
109 poles to a stake in a field the north west corner of Entry No 2760 for 20 acres.
Thence East 70 poles to a stake on the N E corner on the West boundary of Entry No
629 for 640 acres. Thence north 35 poles to a post oak the N W corner on the south
boundary of said entry No 853 then east 242 poles to a post oak the N E corner of said
entry No 629 Thence South with the same 214 poles to a stake a Red Oak pointer on
John M. Richardson's N E corner. Thence west with his North boundary line & J.
Greathouse's in all 242 poles to a stake a Hickory & two post oak pointers on the west
boundary of said Entry No 629. Thence North with the same 116 poles to a stake of the
S E corner of said Entry No 2760 for 20 acres. Thence west with the same 68 poles to a
stake in a field on the East boundary line of Entry No 2125 for 25 acres made in the
name of R. Hatley. Thence South with the same to & with said Entry No 2194 for 100
acres in all 120 poles to a stake in said field on the East boundary line of Entry #2193
for 200 acres made in the name of P. Colman. Thence East 57 poles to a Black oak the
N E corner. Thence South with the east boundary line 119 1/2 poles to a stake with
three post oak pointers B. T. Whitmore's N E corner. Thence West with his line 247
poles to a stake and post oak pointers. Thence North with Taggart's line 99 1/2 poles to
a stake two black oak pointers on the north boundary line of entry No 940 for 640 acres.
Thence East 97 poles to a stake in a field the north east corner on the West boundary
line of said entry No 2193. Thence North with the same 20 poles to a stake in said field
on the South boundary line of said entry No 2194. Thence west with the same 30 poles
to a stake its south west corner. Thence North with the West boundary line 140 poles to
a stake on the South boundary line of said Entry No 874 for 190 acres. Thence west
with the same 79 poles to a black jack its the south west corner on the East boundary of
entry No 1229 for 93 acres. Thence North with the same 152 poles to the beginning.
Now we having made partition of said lands as above described between ourselves
containing by survey 820 acres including the occupant lands that the said Wm. H.
Coleman dec'd owned and had in possession in his lifetime in the following manner viz:
the said A. H. Rose & John Lax conveys to B. T. Whitmore Extr. & Mary Chandler
Executrix of Edward Chandler dec'd for the use of the heirs of said E. J. Chandler
dec'd to have & to hold in severalty to the use of said heirs or their legal representatives
all our right and claim to that part of the aforesaid land included in these boundaries: (to
wit) Beginning a black oak bush with two black oak & a white oak pointer 20 3/4 poles
north of John Greathouse N W corner running from thence west 262 poles to a stake
with two black oak & post oak pointers on Wm. Taggart's line. Thence South 43 3/4
poles a stake in Taggart's field. Thence 4 poles to a stake near the fence. Thence
South 99 1/2 poles to a stake & post Oak pointers Whitmore's corner on Taggart's
line. Thence east with said Whitmore's line 247 poles to a black oak to the line of an
occupant Whitmore's corner. Thence South with said occupant & Whitmore's line 73
poles to a stake. Thence East 11 poles to a stake in or near Greathouse's line. Thence
North with Greathouse's line & passing his corner in all 216 poles to the Beginning
containing by survey 237 acres and 13 poles and the said A. H. Rose and John Lax
agrees & covenants for themselves their heirs & Representatives to warrant & defend
the title of the portion surveyed to B. T. Whitman executor & Mary Chandler Executrix
of E. J. Chandler & his heirs or Representatives of said deceased forever against all
claims by themselves or any person claiming under them and the said B. T. Whitmore
executor & Mary Chandler Executrix of said Chandler decd & A. H. Rose conveys to
John Lax all the Residue of said land as described to have & to hold in severalty to
himself & to his heirs all their right & claim to the aforesaid remaining land and the said
B. T. Whitmore executor & Mary Chandler executrix of said E. J. Chandler decd & A.
H. Rose agrees & covenants for themselves their heirs & representatives to warrant &
defend the title of this partition so conveyed to Lax to him & his heirs forever against all
claims for themselves or any person claiming under them. In testimony whereof B. T.
Whitmore executor, Mary Chandler executrix of E. J. Chandler decd and A. H. Rose
& John Lax have hereinto set their hands & seals this 16th day of February 1847.
