ITALY 1947

Birth of an IconDuring World War II Ferdinando Innocenti ran a steel tubing factory in the

Lambrate district of Milan in northern Italy, producing components for the

Italian Air Force. After the war Innocenti needed to find a new product and

was inspired by the scooters that the US army brought to Italy. Innocenti

realised he could apply most of the parts that the factory was already

producing to motor scooter production. He saw the scooters as a reliable

and fun transportation for the masses, that was affordable for all and revo-

lutionary in design.

It was an idea of genius that improved the quality of life for many, both in Italy

and throughout the world. To make the Lambretta even more appealing, he

offered the scooter in six pastel colours, keeping him one step ahead of the

other Italian motorcycles, and by the late 1940’s the Lambretta was exported

overseas. The scooter phenomenon was on its way to becoming a legend!

PIN-UP GIRLS

Art of the 50’s and 60’sLambretta used famous actresses and models to market the scooters;

Raffaella Carrà, Jayne Mansfield and Jean Shrimpton to name a few.

The ads and calendars reflected the feeling of fun, glamour and fashion and

gave the brand its Pin-up History, which lives on today with postcards and

new calendars being printed.

MODS LONDON

Swinging 60’sThe clamour for motor scooters went into decline with the advent of afford-

able cars, but a revival came in the swinging 60’s, when young people in

London with a love for Italian fashion became enchanted with the scooter.

Known as Mods they embraced the Lambretta as an icon for their way of

life. One of the biggest bands of this era, The Who, had a huge influence on

Mods culture. Their album Quadrophenia also became the name of a tribute

Mods film in the late 70’s, which featured the Lambretta heavily. Even today

the name Lambretta is synonymous with the original Modmobile – the

Scooter – and the distinctive Italian influenced style of that era.

The scooter production in Italy continued until 1971, and during this time

Lambretta was also manufactured under license in France, Germany, Spain,

India, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina, making it a worldwide brand.

Developed as a tribute to Dr. Cesare Battaglini, who crossed every continent covering 160,000 km on a Lambretta scooter between 1956 and 1959 and became a true Italian Lambretta Icon.

The watch is a modern interpretation of a classic 50’s gents

watch, something that Cesare would have worn. Steel case

with a slim elegant shape and a thin rim that makes room

for a generous dial. The shimmering sunray dial has a simple

but distinct index. Vintage leather strap with a natural grain.

The two hands movement with no second hand is typical

50’s watch style and adds to the clean retro look.

WARRANTY

Lambretta Watches provides a 2 year international warranty,

from the date of purchase. The warranty covers manufac-

turing defects, not normal wear and tear. Nor do the war-

ranty cover batteries, glass, watch case, strap, bracelet, loss

or theft. If the customer has opened the case back, pushed

the buttons underwater, or forgot to screw down or push in

the crown and expose the watch to moisture the warranty

is no longer valid.

All gift boxes have a warranty booklet with information about

the brand and the watches.

If a customer comes back with a watch:

- Ask for receipt

- Ask and write down what happened

- How did it happen?

Send this information, together with watch model (preferably

with a photo) to: [email protected]

We will replay within 24 hours (weekdays) with a next step

instruction; either to send the watch back for repair, within

warranty or at a cost, or replace with a new watch.

If it’s an appropriate warranty issue on one of our Classic or

Fashion models, such as Cesare, Enzo, Cielo or Franco, we

mostly advise to replace it for a new watch. Again normal

wear and tear or glass broken due to dropping the watch is

not included in the warranty.

With our Racing models, such as Imola, Avanti or Mugello,

we repair all warranty issues.

Make sure to keep all watches replaced, together with a note

of the issue, for a collective return to us.

Regarding the adjustable bracelet for Cielo Mesh, see sep-

arate instruction. It is also printed in the warranty leaflet

placed in each gift box. Please read through this and assist

your customer. If damaged by customer the buckle can be

exchanged – Please contact us for details.

MOveMeNTS

We use a high quality Japanese movements in all our watches

– famous Miyota (Citizen).

2-3 years is standard battery life.

QUALITY

All our products have passed the “RoHS” standard (Restriction

of Hazardous Substances) and have nor nickel or chromium

substances in doses that would trigger any allergy.

Most of our products are made in 316L or 304 stainless steel.

Our Classic or Fashion models has an alloy case with a safe

coating/plating.

WATeR ReSISTANce

Our Classic or Fashion models are not suitable for water

activities. Most water resistant watches are NOT designed

for prolonged and active use in water. The only watches

designed to withstand these types of conditions are profes-

sional diver’s watches. Leather straps should always be

kept out of contact with water. On the case back of our

Racing models you can see the ATM, use below guide to

help your customer.

The number of meters shown does not indicate the depth

that the watch can be taken to.
