KISTI Lambda Networking Activities

Vision of Lambda Networking International research groups, projects, or activities

can be provided their own worldwide wavelength or "lightpath", enabling researchers to build dedicated, application-specific networks with large capacities.

UCLP (User Controlled LightPath) CANARIE’s directed research program UCLP software allows end-users:

To treat network resources as software objects To provision and reconfigure lightPaths within

a single domain or across multiple domains To create their own application-specific network

KISTI’s UCLP Development Phases

Phase 1 (2005.3 ~ 2005.10)

Deploy User Controlled LightPath version 1 (UCLPv1) to KREONet2 and Extend it to Layer2

Phase 2 (2006.2 ~ 2006.11)

Deploy User Controlled LightPath version 2 (UCLPv2) to KREONet2 and Extend it to Layer2 and Layer3

Phase 3 (2007.3 ~ 2007.11)

Improve Articulated Private Networks to support multipoint-to-multipoint communications in UCLPv2

UCLP Phase 3 by KISTI

The existing UCLP is optimized to build a dedicated end-to-end connection from a source to a destination

Some applications, however, need a dedicated network for one-to-multipoint communication or multipoint-to-multipoint communication
