Learning with happinessLearning with happinessLearning with happinessLearning with happiness
This might seem a familiar phrase, but many of us have not really practised it. It means that you
have to be in your best mood of happiness when you learn. It doesn’t happen very easily, for people
are happy very little these days. My Geography teacher says, “Do something that makes you happy
and do that before you start learning. Then learn. Your learning capacity will surely be higher”.
Start relating your subject to your day to day happenings; learning will become very
interesting. Those of you who love to admire nature can start with this. The red sky during the
sunrise and sunset due to the scattering of light (red light is scattered the least)! Those of you who
are basket ball freaks can start with this: You dribble the ball that is you exert some force on the
ball indirectly and then the reverse happens; sounds familiar? It’s Newton’s third law!
This is just Physics. You can do it with any subject .Then learning will be real fun!

A Student’s lifeA Student’s lifeA Student’s lifeA Student’s life They say –
The process of learning never ends
I wish I could say –
Should I learn? Or earn?
Or should I survive the bitter world?
Parent’s say –
Score well for having a great future.
Can I say?
When should I live
My present day?
Teachers say –
Study to give yourself a name! And Fame!
My thoughts say –
What’s there in a name?
And in fame?
Relatives say –
My child scored! How about you?
Let me just answer them –
It’s not just marks for which I care?
You may glare, but you should be fair!!
Just let me live my life
My way, just today
I shall learn and earn myself a name, fame
And do the rest tomorrow.
It’s a long life – A student’s life –
To live the present and future
Depends upon the process of learning
That never ends!!!

Friends forever!
Written with a pen
If you are my friend, please answer this
Are we friends or are we not?
You told me once but I forgot
So tell me now and tell me the truth.
So I can say I am here for you.
Of all friends I’ve ever met,
You are the one I won’t forget.
And if I die before you do.
I’ll go to heaven.
And wait for you…..

NatureNatureNatureNature
Nature means beauty
Don’t make it dirty
Nature is extraordinary
Don’t make it ordinary
Nature has beautiful birds that sing
Don’t make them have a broken wing
Growing trees should be a passion
Don’t make cutting trees a fashion
Nature is like a honey
Don’t sell it for money.
It’s my nature!
It’s your nature!
It’s our nature!
Let’s save Mother Nature!

I was enthralled at the beauty and quiet that surrounded me. A sense of peace and serenity
settled over me. I was surrounded by thick trees, creepers and undergrowth. The trees were tall,
thick and close-set, letting in no natural light, except for the greenish glow filtering down through a
gap between two canopies, right in front of me, giving an eerie effect. But I had nothing to fear. The
light sparkled up bits of floating dust which danced about in a sort of heavenly rhythm, in perfect
grace and motion. The light cast deep shadows in the underbrush, where I suspected little animals
and insects were hiding. The steady droning of insects, with the occasional chirping of birds and
screeching of monkeys, harmoniously added up to the steady trickling of a stream nearby. This was
a world where one’s senses will be the sharpest, where everything that surrounded sounded like a
mystery.
I walked forward silently, fascinated. A bug was, at an impossibly slow pace, walking over a
soft green leaf, which was studded with sparkling diamond-like, dew drops. A snake slithered round
a branch, coiling and hissing, its deadly eyes never faltering from its prey, a cuckoo’s egg. A
woodpecker flew onto the bark of a tall tree nearby, appearing out of nowhere. I left it, now steadily
pecking and walked forward, slightly faster, having just seen a thick veil of creepers blocking my
path and wanting to know what was beyond it.
I drew aside the creepers and took a step forward. My heart stopped beating for a moment
and I stopped breathing for a while, as I took in all that was around me. The quiet and peace of the
forest was left behind. This was a completely different world. No more could I listen to the sound of
life and nature moving in its own slow pace. Surrounding me was the top of a cliff face, leading
down to a waterfall. The fast flowing river and the gushing sound of its course filled me with a sense
of adventure and left me euphoric. All thoughts of self-reflection were driven away. A green stretch
of rainforest could be seen till the horizon. Looking up, I saw the vast expanse of a cloudless blue
sky. I stretched my hands and took in a deep breath. The wind whipped my hair against my cheek.
The sound of water hitting against the rocks at the bottom of the cliff, the feel of the wind so high
up, the vast sky above and the sheer drop of the cliff filled me with a sense of freedom. No longer
thinking clearly, I took in one last breath of air and plunged in to the waters below!

My mothMy mothMy mothMy motherererer
Mom, I look at you
And see a walking miracle
Your unfailing love without limit,
Your ability to soothe my every hurt,
The way you are work,
Every hour,
Everyday.
Makes me so grateful so proud
That I am yours, and you are mine.
With open arms and open heart,
With enduring patience and inner strength
You gave so much for me
Sometimes at your expense.
You are my teacher,
My comforter, my courage ,
Appreciating all, forgiving all.
Sometimes I take you for granted,
But now on I never will again.
I know that everything I am today
Relates to you and your loving care.
I gasp in wonder
As I watch you-
My miracle,
My strength,
My joy,
My mother.

The Clay Pot Breaks ……The Clay Pot Breaks ……The Clay Pot Breaks ……The Clay Pot Breaks ……
As the light of the dawn breaks,
We wake up in an illuminated room –
With memories of the dark nights
- When we were captive
Truly, It was fate,
When one could no more breathe the breath of peace,
The clay pot that we preserved,
The dark times in which they lived …
Breaks in the clumsy hands of Today.
The pot of character, discipline and tradition,
Breaks, and I say we are again in the dark ages!!
We are really groping, very true!
We are now stranded on the bloodshed grounds..
And now we destroy the clay pot –
- The heart of Indian culture
With water to grow hundreds of well groomed plants –
- Of character and discipline!
That rich water drains away,
It’s not too late.We could still check the flow!
We could be those well groomed plants!

SPACE ON EARTHSPACE ON EARTHSPACE ON EARTHSPACE ON EARTH
I could not believe myself when my name was announced in the assembly for going to ISRO,
Sriharikota that was when my essay “My dream satellite” got selected. We left Madurai on 30th
August and reached Chennai.
It takes 3 hours to reach Sriharikota from Chennai. ISRO, Sriharikota was renamed later as
Sathish Dawan Space Centre. First we went to mission control centre, it contained two floors. The
ground floor consisted of satellite designing area. The first floor consisted of mission control centre
where the rockets are monitored at the time of launch. Then we went to the Solid Motor Testing
Area, where the shuttle is assembled. The solid motor is assembled horizontally across the wall and
ignited with a spark of 5mV. Various conditions like pressure, thrust is noted and it is subjected to
various climatic conditions and in various altitudes. We went to the first launch pad which is
followed the method “Integrate on a tower”. It consists of 2 structures, one is the main service
tower and a stationary tower where shuttle is assembled and launched. Before launching the shuttle
a sounding rocket is launched in order to chase the birds. It also contains water jets in order to put
away the flames after launch. Next we went to the second launch pad. It was the place from which
Chandrayan- I was launched. Then I thought how lucky I was to be in this place. Next we went to
ISTRAC (Indian Satellite Tracking centre) where the satellites in the space are tracked and
monitored.
This journey to ISRO was one of my life time experiences. This journey inculcated the spirit
of patriotism towards our country. It also made us to think that co-ordination is essential for any
achievement. It has inspired me to become a space scientist. I thank my school and Interact club for
giving me such a great opportunity.
“I feel proud of my country”
