Elena Collier was the Principal for the Day on Wednesday because she earned over 500 AR points the first semester. She chose to be principal as her reward; I kept her hopping! Today was Day 100 and our kindergarteners dressed for the occasion, check out the pictures! We are planning some very cool acvies for the month of February. We will celebrate Valenne’s Week with a “kindness” iniave (the GREAT Kindness Challenge). Tied into that will be a spirit week and Pennies for Paents Drive with NEHS. We are having an Honor Roll breakfast for our 4 th and 5 th graders on Wednesday, February 7 th and we will celebrate 4 th and 5 th grade Student of the Month recipients for January at this break- fast as well. Look for a leer and/or invite coming soon. I am happy to say our Lake Street Robocs teams had an outstanding experience at their compeon in Michigan City on Saturday, January 20 th . Team 11893A Lile Debbie won the STEM Award, Design Award, and Teamwork Award. Team 11893B Gruffalo earned the Excellence Award. Both teams have earned bids to the state compeon which takes place March 10 th at Lu- cas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. We are so proud of our teams for their success at compeons and growth this school year! If you are parked along the front of the school for drop off or pick up, please turn your car off as this is a “no idle zone”. We need to keep the air we breathe in the building safe from exhaust. Wise’s Words of the Week: Greetings from Lake Street Elementary—home of the 4-Star Dazzling Dolphins Another great week of teaching and learning just happened…hooray for the dazzling dolphin students of Lake

Dazzling Dolphins’ Clubs and Activities:

NEHS will meet on Thursday, February 8th from 8:15 to 8:45 am in Mrs. Gaines Classroom.

ROBOTICS Practice will be held on Monday, January 29th and Thursday, February 1st from 3:45 to 5:00pm.

Newspaper will be held next on Tuesday, January 30th after school in Mr. Padan’s classroom.

K-KIDS Our next K-Kids meeting is going to be Tuesday, February 27 at 8:15 in Mrs. Schaub’s room. STUDENT COUNCIL the next meeting will take place on Monday, February 5th from 8:20-8:45. Math Bowl the next Math Bowl practice will be held on Tuesday, January 30th and Wednesday, January 31st from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

Smencils will be sold before school next week at 8:50, until school starts. We will have a table in the front

hallway and also a table back in the bus hallway at the back of the school. Smencils will be $1 and a portion of our sales will go to help support our Robotics Team at their competitions.

2018-2019 Kindergarten Registration in February Registration for Fall Kin-dergarten classes will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018, and Tuesday, February 20, 2018. The

schedule for each elementary building is shown below. Kinder-garten students must be five (5) years of age on or before Au-gust 1, 2018 in order to enroll for the 2018-19 school year. It is not mandatory for students to come with their parents to reg-istration, but they are welcome. The following documents are required at the time of registra-

tion:

1. Child’s certified birth certificate (not hospital certificate) 2. Immunization record 3. Child’s Social Security Card Three documents from the following are required to prove res-idency: utility bills (Nipsco, Water) deed or mortgage state-ment, or Lake County Tax Bill. Outstanding Teacher of the Year &

Employee of the Year Recognition Program

The Crown Point Community School Corporation is accepting nom-

inations for the “Teacher of the Year” and “Employee of the Year”

who will serve during the 2018-2019 school year.

The CPCSC will select a “Teacher of the Year” re-

cipient for each of the following:

Elementary Teacher Grades PK-5

Secondary Teacher Grades 6-12

The CPCSC will also select an “Employee of the

Year” recipient for the classified staff.

Students, former students, parents, colleagues, administrators, or

members of the general public may nominate a CPCSC teacher and/

or classified employee. There is no limit to the number of teachers

or classified employees a person may nominate. Please complete a

separate nomination form for each teacher and/or classified employ-

ee you wish to nominate.

A selection committee made up of CPCSC administration and com-

munity members will narrow the nominations. The selection com-

mittee will interview and evaluate the final nominees and select a

winner for each category. Winners will be announced at a School

Board meeting in May.
