B O A T L A U N C HA 12 ramp boat launch o� ers easy access to the Detroit River and Lake Erie, prime walleye country. Winter dry storage is available from November through April. A Metroparks Boat Permit is required. Kayak loading is allowed on the ramp closest to the restroom building.

C O N C E S S I O N SFood is sold at the Great Wave pool food bar and packaged snacks are sold at the marina. Availability will vary depending on the season.

Food and beverages, including beer, wine, and liquor are sold at the Golf Starter Building. No outside alcoholic beverages or coolers allowed.

F I S H I N GShore � shing is available throughout the park wherever water depths are su� cient. Spearing and bow and arrow � shing are prohibited. A Michigan Fishing license is required.

G A M E SA softball � eld and basketball, tennis courts, and volleyball courts are located near the wave pool complex.

G O L F7 3 4 - 3 7 9 - 0 0 4 8This 6,489 yard, 18-hole, par-72 course and driving range o� ers power carts, pull carts, and clubs for rent. Senior (55+) and junior (20 and younger) rates are available. Some restrictions apply.

H I K E - B I K E T R A I LA three mile paved trail, from South Gibraltar Road at the north end of the park, to the observation deck/� shing site and Marina near the south end of the park at Lee Road, traverses woods, marsh, and shoreline areas, giving users excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Pets on a six foot leash are permitted.

M A R I N ALocated at the end of Lee Road, the Marina is open from April through October. More than 100 wells, all with water and electricity, are available for transient dockage. Daily transient dockage is also available for boats up to 35 feet in length. Please call in advance for availability. Dry storage is available from April through October. Hours of operation are posted at the Marina Building. There are reduced hours prior to Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

P E T SDogs and other pets are permitted in the park only when kept on a six foot (or less) leash. Pets are not permitted in the nature areas, buildings, or on the golf course.

P I C N I C STables, grills, and shelters are located throughout the park. Please register with the Park O� ce if you have a group of 50 people or more. Shelters can be reserved for a fee.

P L A Y G R O U N D SThere are two main playgrounds, one near the wave pool and the other at Cove Point. Both playgrounds o� er various structures and climbing apparatus for children up to 12 years of age.

W A V E P O O L / S P L A S H P A D : T H E G R E A T W A V EThe “Great Wave” wave pool makes three-foot rollicking waves for cool summer fun. A special twilight rate is o� ered in the evening. Hours may be reduced from mid-August through Labor Day. Coin lockers and Children’s life jackets are available. The Wet Shop carries an assortment of sunscreen, goggles, swimcaps, towels, and swimsuits.

W I N T E R S P O R T SICE FISHINGIce � shing is allowed from November through March at the marina as ice conditions permit. You must enter through Lee Road for ice � shing. Due to warm water currents, ice � shing along the Lake Erie shoreline is not recommended. A Michigan Fishing license is required.

Explore the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Downriver/Lake Erie shore region through exhibits and interpretive programs at the Marshlands Museum.

One of the premier hawk watching sites in North America, Lake Erie Metropark is host to migrating waterfowl in the spring and fall, and birds of prey in the fall.

Visit Luc, our resident bald eagle, who lives in an outdoor aerie near the museum.

N A T U R E T R A I L SAlmost three miles of trails lead from the Marshlands Museum, taking hikers along the Lake Erie/Detroit River shoreline and through coastal marshes and dense hawthorn thickets. A long boardwalk and several overlooks along the trails provide excellent views of marshes, lagoons, and wildlife. The nature trails are open daily from daylight to dusk. Pets are prohibited on nature trails.

LAKE ERIE

This 1,607 acre gem, part of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and a designated Audubon Society Important Bird Area, is the place to be for anyone who loves the water. At the tip of the western basin of � sh-rich Lake Erie, this park o� ers outstanding boat launch facilities to get you on the water in minutes, miles of hiking trails showcasing acres of wetlands, and is home to one of the largest and most accessible American Lotus beds in Michigan. In addition to all the natural splendor, there’s an 18-hole golf course, wave pool, picnic areas and Marshlands Museum.
