ALPHA…

What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that explore the Christian faith. It is a parish tool to foster evangelization. Alpha is based on welcome and hospitality, sharing and prayer. Each session includes a meal, a talk and small group discussion. The Meal Offering a meal or snack is an essential part of Alpha. Participants are welcomed into a relaxed and friendly setting and have the opportunity to get to know one another. The Talk After the meal, a short talk is given on the Christian faith. The talks are based on the teaching of the Church, the Bible, and the personal testimony of the speaker. Topics vary from ‘Who is Jesus?’ to ‘How can I make the most of the rest of my life?’ The Small Group Conversation The small groups provide the opportunity to build trust and friendship. The role of the host (leader) is to facilitate discussion, inviting guests to share openly and honestly, without any criticism or judgment. Within the group, participants learn the art of liste- ning, reading the Scriptures and praying. The small groups often develop into prayer groups that may then become small Christian communities within the parish.

Sunday, September 18 - Eucharist and Picnic at the JJ Biello Park Come celebrate the 170th anniversary of the Apparition of Our Lady in the mountains of La Salette, France. We’ll start at 11:00am with an outdoor multi-lingual Celebration of the Eucharist. We’ll enjoy the parish picnic with Barbecue Chicken and all the fixin's, drinks, festive music, games and sports. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes to allow time for parking. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for a day at the park because the weather will most likely be warm. Come and celebrate Mass, and let us celebrate as a family. Don’t forget to bring your suntan lotion, lawn chair, blanket, favorite hat, and a covered dish to share. If you have a pop-up tent, bring it! Let's make this celebration as great an event as Our Lady's apparition was. The Mass schedule for that Sunday will be: a Mass at 8:00am at the parish church and the Mass at 11:00am Mass at the JJ Biello Park. (There will be no other Masses on parish grounds at 10:30am or at 5:30pm.)

Eucaristía y picnic en el Parque JJ Biello Ven a celebrar el 170 aniversario de la Aparición de la Virgen en las montañas de La Salette, Francia. Comenzaremos a las 11:00 de la mañana con la Celebración Eucarística multi-lingue, al aire libre. Disfrutaremos el picnic parroquial con Barbacoa de Pollo y diferentes contornos, bebidas, música festiva, juegos y deportes. Se le sugiere que llegue 10-15 minutos antes para estacionar. Use ropa cómoda, adecuada para un día de parque porque el clima es muy probable que sea cálido. Así que venga a participar de la Santa Misa, y celebremos como familia. No se olvide de traer su bronceador, silla o cobija, si tiene un toldo traígalo, sombrero, y un plato de comida para compartir. Hagamos de esta celebración un evento tan grande como lo fue la aparición de Nuestra Señora. El horario de Misas ese domingo será: una Misa a las 8:00am en la iglesia parroquial y la Misa a las 11:00am en el Parque JJ Biello. (No habrá Misas en la parroquia a las 10:30 am ni a las 5:30 pm.)

Head Sacristan wanted to coordi-nate and oversee the care and cohesiveness of liturgical prepara-tions for the parish. The Head Sac-ristan in collaboration and with the support of other sacristans is the homemaker of the church. Together as a team they coordinate weekend celebrations as well as major feast days during the Liturgical Year. The Head Sacristan has a commitment to foster good worship here at Our Lady of La Salette. The Head Sacristan oversees the duties of other sacristans to set up the liturgical ele-ments which include vessels used for Eucharist, altar lin-ens, candles, to name a few. Please contact Fr.
