Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6].

GAUGE: Placemat Rnd 1 = 6 long x 1 wide. CHECK

YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

With A ch 25.

Rnd 1: 4 Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 20 ch, 5 dc in

last ch, working on opposite side of beg ch, dc in next 20

sts; join with a slip st to top of ch-3 50 sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same ch as joining, [2 dc in next dc] 4

times, dc in next 20 dc, [2 dc in next dc] 5 times, dc in next20 dc; join 60 sts.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same ch as joining, [2 dc in next dc]

9 times, dc in next 20 dc, [2 dc in next dc] 10 times, dc in

next 20 dc; join 80 sts.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, (sc, ch 4, sc) all in same ch as joining, skip

next dc, * (sc, ch 4, sc) all in next dc, skip next dc; repeat

from * around; join with a slip st to rst sc.

Rnd 5: Slip st into space, ch 1, * (sc, ch 4, sc) all in spac

repeat from * around; join.

Rnds 6 and 7: Repeat Rnd 5.

Rnd 8: Slip st into space, ch 1, 3 sc in space, * [ch 2, 3 s
