Thank you for your interest in summer camp offered through the La Jolla YMCA. To the families that have shared past summers with us, we thank you for being a continued member of our Y family. Included in this catalog are descriptions, prices, and dates for camps at our Torrey Pines, Pacifi c Beach, and Standley campsites. You will fi nd all camp arranged alphabetically by week. FAQs

Who supervises my child?Safety is our number one priority. Our camp staff is made up of dedicated and experienced adults who have received a minimum of 20 hours of training and are all CPR and fi rst-aid certifi ed. We have an extensive interview process including references, background checks, and drug screening to ensure the best possible role models for your children.

What are the hours of camp?Our camp day runs from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday, but we also are here to accommodate your family’s schedule and offer free extended care before and after camp each day. Feel free to drop off your child anytime between 7am-9am and pick up from 3:45pm-6pm.

What do I need to send with my camper each day? We will supply the atmosphere for a great camp experience and ask only that you send your camper to camp each day with a lunch, at least 2 snacks, a water bottle and closed-toed shoes. We recommend applying sunscreen before you get to camp and our camp staff will supply sunscreen to campers regularly throughout the day.

During our afternoon extended care, we have partnered with Whole Foods to provide a healthy snack for your kids after a long day of fun and camp!

Can I afford camp?With camps starting at just $175 for the week, and because of the YMCA’s commitment to provide fi nancial aid and never turn away a fam-ily, we are confi dent that there are camps that are right for you. Contact us for ways we can help ensure an amazing summer for your family.

What does a typical day look like?Each camp has its own unique mix of activities based on its specialty or weekly themes, but in general, camps use a variation of the schedule below, with specialty camps spending half of the day devoted to that specialty:

DEPOSITSAll Deposits are non-refundable

February 23rd-March 8th: $15 deposits/camp

Starting March 9th: $30 deposits/camp

Camp deposits are credited to the remaining balance of the camp.

CAMP HOURSOur camp day runs from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday, but we are here to accommodate your family’s schedule and offer free extended care before and after camp each day. Feel free to drop off your child anytime between 7am-9am and pick up from 3:45pm-6pm.

BILLINGCamp invoices will be sent out 18th for all camps you have registered your child for prior to May 17th. This invoice will include all camps your child is currently enrolled in along with balance due dates for each camp.

All remaining balances are due one week prior to the camp start date (Monday by 6pm). If your payment is not received one week prior to the camp start date, the deposit will be forfeited and the camper’s registration will be cancelled.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (FA)La Jolla YMCA volunteers to raise funds for fi nancial assistance to help families in need. Although there are limits to the YMCA’s funding capacity, the YMCA will try to accommodate all requests for families that meet the required guidelines.

FA is based on verifi ed income and completed paperwork, FA applications are available at the La Jolla YMCA front desk or online at www.lajolla.ymca.org

BUS ROUTESThe YMCA will be offering bus routes this summer for campers attending La Jolla camps at Torrey Pines Elementary only. The bus shuttles will be partnering with Pfi zer and Qulacomm. WEEK ONEJune 16 - 19

BowlingAges: 7-12 Cost: $200/$235If your camper has time to SPARE this summer then this camp is right up your alley. Each day campers will get to travel to some of San Diego’s premier lanes and throw strikes for two hours. Traditional camp activities will round out their experience. Socks are required.

Cheer Ages: 6-13 Cost: $200/$235This high energy camp will focus on all aspects of cheerleading. Throughout the week campers will work on jumps, tumbling, arm movements, and stunting. Cheerleaders will work on their routines and cheer skills for at least 3 hours each day while also enjoying arts, crafts and games. We will fi nish the week with a parent show to show off all of the skills your campers have learned all week!

Daily CampAges: 5-16 Cost: $70/$85For those families who only need a partial week of camp or just a single day, we have the perfect solution. Daily Camp gives you the fl exibility of having camp when you want it. Campers will enjoy the spirit and excitement of camp, while you have the option of signing up for any single day of camp without worrying about late fees or a full week commitment. Placement is determined by age and availability as campers will either be places in: Adventure, Discovery, High 5’s, Voyagers or one of our sports camps.

DiscoveryAges: 6-10 Cost: $150/$175Each day campers will start off the day choosing which activity from a variety of options they would like to participate in. Campers stay onsite and get to enjoy the amazing programming we offer ranging from arts and crafts, to science and fi eld games. Each week, we create a unique environment that is as welcoming to new campers as it is to returning campers. Campers will have to opportunity to participate in free swim at our YMCA pool on Tuesday and Thursday each week and spend the rest of the time being creative and active in this high value camp!

Flag FootballAges: 7-12 Cost: $200/$235OMAHA! OMAHA! READY! SET! HIKE! Learn the fundamentals of passing, receiving and the art of the touchdown dance. Whether your camper is new to the game or a seasoned player our camp is designed for players of all ages. Daily scrimmages will be played and focused on set plays and basic strategy and an emphasis will be placed on teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers will beat the heat by enjoying the Y pool one afternoon.

Gymnastics Ages: 5-13 Cost: $200/$235A Camp You’ll Flip Over! Watch your child grow in confi dence as they learn new skills on the fl oor, bars, beam, and vault. Campers will be put in smaller groups of up to 10 kids based on age and ability to practice their gymnastics skills every week. Each day, our gymnasts will get at least 3 hours of gymnastics time while also doing arts, crafts and games. This fun camp will fi nish with an exciting parent show on Friday. We hope to see you there!

High 5’sAges: 5 Cost: $175/$205Each day campers will receive swim lessons from our YMCA lifeguards and participate in squad activities, all with our amazing staff supervision ratio of 1:6. Our camp stays onsite and gets to enjoy the amazing programming we offer ranging from arts and crafts, to science and fi eld games. Each week, we create a unique environment that is as welcoming to new campers as it is to returning campers.

Little ArtistsAges: 5-6 Cost: $200/$235In this camp, our little artists will be able to express themselves and create different projects daily. Each day they will learn about a different style of art and practice what they learn. Campers will get to be creative and design their own masterpieces to share and show off. This camp may get a little messy, but it will be tons of fun!

Parkour Ages: 6-13 Cost: $200/$235Hardcore Parkour! Learn how to run, vault, fl ip, climb and roll over all types of obstacles in the safety of our gymnastics gym. Each day will consist of at least 3 hours of time in the gymnastics gym working on a different Parkour obstacles and skills. Campers will learn the lingo and moves of Parkour as well as having fun playing games outside. Learn how to navigate through the gymnastics gym in fun and creative ways in this exciting and challenging camp!

Camps offered at Torrey Pines Elementary and Pacifi c Beach Middle SchoolLeaders in Training - Training CourseAges: 14-17 Cost: $250/$290When you are too young to be a counselor, and too experienced as a camper, the LIT program is available as a two-phase training course designed to strengthen the gap between camper and counselor. The skills learned in a camp environment are useful, helpful, and relevant to life beyond summer camp. LIT’s will study leadership, public speaking, responsibility, expression of creativity, fi rst aid, CPR, and more as they build self-confi dence. Have fun and be a role model this summer a part of the LIT program.

Mainstreaming in Camp (MinC)Ages: 5-15 Cost: $200/$235Our Mainstreaming in Camp program adapts the camp experience to your child’s needs and abilities, allowing opportunities for all kids to learn from each other and create unexpected new friendships. “MinC” Campers will participate in traditional camp activities with other groups whenever possible, while our increased ratios allow us to provide the caring staff needed for positive inclusion and/or one-on-one support. Campers may travel once a week.

SurfAges: 7-15 Cost: $225/$265 Spend fi ve days soaking up sun. In this camp your child will learn proper surf terminology, water safety, wave etiquette, and correct handling of their board. Campers will be split into groups by like age and skill level. This camp also features a curriculum in coastal preservation, and marine life appreciation. Campers can return to surf camp week after week to improve their skills and knowledge of the great pacifi c. Please send your camper with a swimsuit and towel each day. Also, please remember to send your camper with closed toe shoes, and sandals/fl ip fl ops so that they may participate in the wide range of camp activities available on the shore.

Torrey Pines ElementaryAdventureAges: 9-12 Cost: $200/$235Join our travelers camps as they explore San Diego on a weekly basis and see what America’s Finest City has to offer. Each week campers will travel 4 days and spend one day onsite participating in our amazing programs and playing games.Thursday Adventure Trip: Aquatica

Arts and Crafts: ClayAges: 6-9 Cost: $200/$235Time to get crafty with clay. Throughout the week, campers will get the chance to learn different techniques and create their own sculptures and masterpieces. Campers will be able to take their art a step further and fi nish their masterpieces with paint and other additions.

Bodyboarding and SandcastlesAges: 7-10 Cost: $175/$205Does your camper love the beach? You have found the perfect camp with our mixture of body boarding and sandcastle building. Campers will spend the week learning skills in the sport of body boarding including how to paddle, use arm and kick power, and how to approach a wave with the appropriate speed. When campers are on land they will get to express themselves creatively as they build larger than life sand sculptures using the hand stacking and soft packing techniques. Campers are encouraged to provide their own body/boogie board.

Friday family activities in addition to Camp Fire Parent Shows

Rookie SportsAges: 5-6 Cost: $200/$235Does your little camper want to learn how to play sports like the pros? In our Rookie Sports camp your child will learn how to play sports like t-ball, basketball, soccer, and other fun sports. Our camp staff will provide a fun and engaging camp environment to let you your camper explore new sports and learn skills. Campers will still get the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities like arts and crafts, songs and games.

Teen Hike, Bike, KayakAges: 13-16 Cost: $250/$290Enjoy the summer sun with this outdoors, big fun camp. Spend 2 days kayaking on the water of La Jolla’s Marine Reserve, through the caves and above the fi sh, learning all about marine life from experienced outdoor professionals. Teens will spend a day hiking at Mission Trails, and another day discovering the beauty of Penesquitios Canyon. Finally one day will be spent biking around gorgeous Mission Bay. This camp is sure to satisfy the outdoor enthusiast in you and teach you safety skills associated with each activity. Teens will also be able to track their trips as we incorporate aspects of photography into our week. Safety equipment, kayaks and bikes will be provided. Teens must be able to swim 100 meters and tread water for 5 minutes.

TennisAges: 6-13 Cost: $200/$235You serve and ace when sign up here! Campers will get two hours of on court instruction from our experienced tennis instructors. Our tennis camp will focus on building solid skills through group instruction with reinforcement of the fundamentals. Instruction is designed for fi rst time players all the way through intermediate players with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and tennis etiquette. Campers are welcomed to bring their own racquets but we will provide loaners if needed.

VoyagersAges: 6-8 Cost: $175/$205Join our travelers camps as they explore San Diego on a weekly basis and see what America’s Finest City has to offer. Each week campers will travel 3 days and spend one day onsite participating in our amazing programs and playing games.

Weird ScienceAges: 7-9 Cost: $200/$235If you’re little one is interested in science then this camp is for them! Campers will get an inside look into the world of science and learn what it takes to be a scientist. Each day campers will spend time learning about and participating in different experiments in all areas of science. They will explore magnetic activity, the secret life of bugs and solve a “crime” using their super science skills and more!

Pacifi c Beach Middle SchoolBalls, Bats, & BoatsAges: 5-6 Cost: $200/$235 Spend the week exploring recreation and competitive sports on foot and with water. Campers will play baseball, soccer, ship to shore, and more. Wednesday we will be racing our very own RC boats. Friday we invite parents to play some fi eld games and enjoy a BBQ.

Daily CampAges: 5-16 Cost: $70/$85For those families who only need a partial week of camp or just a single day, we have the perfect solution. MinecraftAges: 7-12 Cost: $200/$235 Build friendships and awesome structures as you bring Minecraft to life. Campers will use puzzle solving skills as they work to build life size structures, battle creepers, and create new portals that transport to the end, and beyond. Campers will also have the opportunity to play Minecraft three days during the week with visits from the gametruck. This camp includes minecraft themed games, Legos, and more.

PB Kids ChoirAges: 8-12 Cost: $175/$205 An engaging, music-making experience, for young people who like to sing. Campers will build self-confi dence while singing various genres of music, receiving instruction in basic vocal pedagogy and musicianship, and participating in musical activities and games. This week-long camp will culminate with a parent show on Friday.

PhotographyAges: 8-12 Cost: $200/$235Campers will learn basic photography and camera techniques while being inspired to explore the community surrounding them. We will travel to the San Diego County Fair for their annual photography exhibit. Daily discussions include topics designed to further appreciation for life beyond the lens. Friends and family are invited to join us on Friday as we share our favorite images captured throughout the week. Requirements: Digital Camera or Smartphone with camera.

ScrapbookingAges: 5-12 Cost: $175/$205 Campers will work to create a one of a kind memory book using skills learned during specialized scrapbooking challenges. Each camper will receive a blank scrapbook and basic scrapbooking kit to use throughout the week. Campers will need to provide between 10-15 pictures to be used during the challenges. Please do not send originals as these pictures will not be returned. All other supplies are provided. All campers will take home their scrapbook and a scrapbook kit on Friday after our viewing party for friends and family.

Tour De CampAges: 5-12 Cost: $150/$175 Offering variety, excitement, and the chance to try new things, Tour De Camp is for the camper that loves a challenge. Spending 2-3 hours at the range each day, campers will learn different styles of shooting and improve their skills and get chances to play archery games and win prizes. All equipment and materials are provided and the Y requires all equipment brought from home to be concealed until it is time for archery.

BasketballAges: 7-12 Cost: $225/$265Stay on top of your basketball skills through the summer and join us here at the YMCA where basketball originated. Our summer basketball camp is designed for players of all ability levels, from beginners to seasoned players. Upon completion campers will receive their Basic First Aid, CPR and AED certifi cations. Campers and their squad leaders will explore the parks on self-guided tours each day. Campers will also enjoy a San Diego Zoo bus tour and 3-D Show. The afternoon will be spent playing fun and friendly games and other traditional camp activities. We will fi nish the week with our World Cup tournament. Campers are expected to travel to play indoor soccer 1-2 times during the week. One afternoon will be spent swimming in the Y pool. Soccer cleats are ok to but please bring regular athletic shoes each day. Shin guards are highly encouraged but not mandatory.

This is sure to be an action packed week of games and mental strategy.

Pacifi c Beach Middle SchoolAirbandAges: 8-12 Cost: $225/$265 Do you love music and dance? Do you love to perform in front of an audience? This camp will team campers together as they create choreography, costumes, and learn the words to their favorite music. Campers from Pacifi c Beach and Peninsula Family YMCA will create a band and perform their favorite songs to a crowd of fans at the 1st annual Airband Show on Friday.

Bodyboarding and SandcastlesAges: 7-11 Cost: $225/$265 Campers will spend the week learning skills in the sport of body boarding including how to paddle, use arm and kick power, and how to approach a wave with the appropriate speed. When campers are on land they will get to express themselves creatively as they build larger than life sand sculptures using the hand stacking and soft packing techniques. Campers are encouraged to provide their own body/boogie board.

Gardening Ages: 5-12 Cost: $225/$265Gardens come in all shapes and sizes. Some contain fl owers, and others are used for food. Campers will learn how to analyze soil ph., what to grow each season, and how to design a garden for the space allotted. Each camper will bring home an herb garden, a living succulent picture, and their very own gloves to continue nurturing their green thumb at home. Campers will enjoy a garden themed tea party and a special visit from some garden friends.

Murals and MosaicsAges: 8-12 Cost: $225/$265 Campers will work in groups as they create one of a kind art pieces. During the mural portion of camp, campers will learn painting techniques for large works. The mosaic portion will teach campers how to plan, and create mosaics using glass, plaster, and a variety of mosaic mediums.

Instructor Sheila brings her mobile woodshop classroom to the YMCA for a week of sawing, sanding, drilling and nailing. All campers create fl oating, fl ying, rolling, desk top and other useful projects using safe and effective hand tool techniques. Sample projects are used to jump start the creative process and both beginning and experienced campers will build their skills as well as 5-10 projects.In addition, Build-It 4-5-6 will also learn how to use a coping saw to make animal cut-outs and other curved projects.All wood tools and safety glasses are provided but campers must wear closed toe shoes daily to participate.

Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers. Campers will be in the pool for at least one and a half hours per day, the rest of the day will be spent doing traditional camp activities. Campers will test their physical, mental, and intellectual strength as they face challenges that are fun, messy, and maybe even gross. Campers will travel to locations like Balboa Park and the beach to complete their challenges.

BaseballAges: 7-12 Cost: $225/$265PLAY BALL!!! Hit one out of the park in this exiting camp. Come join us this summer and play America’s pastime! Campers will get the chance to learn fundamentals and game strategies while practicing and honing their batting and fi elding skills. Campers will get an opportunity to travel to batting cages and also get to travel to see the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Baseball gloves are required and all skill levels are welcome.

Campers may travel once a week.

SurfAges: 7-15 Cost: $250/$290 Spend fi ve days soaking up sun. In this camp your child will learn proper surf terminology, water safety, wave etiquette, and correct handling of their board. Campers will be split into groups by like age and skill level. This camp also features a curriculum in coastal preservation, and marine life appreciation. Campers can return to surf camp week after week to improve their skills and knowledge of the great pacifi c. Please send your camper with a swimsuit and towel each day. Ice SkatingAges: 7-12 Cost: $275/$315Spend 5 days at San Diego Ice Arena. This camp includes skate rentals, a t-shirt and 30 minutes of daily instruction. Lessons are followed by two-hours free skate to practice your camel spins and axel jumps, and have a fun time with your friends. Its show time on Friday and parents are welcome to come see what our little skaters have learned. Parent Note: Skates are provided, but campers may bring their own skates, gloves, and any plenty of layers of clothing are recommended. Campers must bring socks each day.

Little ChefsAges: 5-6 Cost: $250/$290Your camper will transform into a culinary expert after spending a themed week with our talented YMCA top chefs. Each day our little chefs will learn to create different delicious tasty treats combining traditional favorites with out of the box creative concoctions. Campers will create their own recipe books that they can easily follow to reconstruct their masterpieces for you at home.

Beach Town ToursAges: 8-12 Cost: $250/$290With over 20 beaches in the county, it was diffi cult to choose which coastal gems to highlight as we travel to San Diego’s most popular beach towns. As unique as the people that live in them, campers will explore the personality of boardwalks and main

streets in Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Pacifi c Beach, Coronado, and Cardiff State Beach. Campers will be limited to no more than $20 of spending money each day. Please send your camper with a bathing suit, towel, and fl ip fl ops.

DramaAges: 8-12 Cost: $225/$265Learn acting techniques such as monologue delivery and improvisation while exploring the differences between small screen, theatre, and motion pictures. Campers will share performances of their favorite pieces on Friday.

EquestrianAges: 7-11 Cost: $325/$380Giddy on up with us to Heartland Ranch where our horse lovers will spend hours learning the intricacies of equine care. Horse safety, care/grooming techniques, horse anatomy, equipment and stall maintenance are all components of caring for these gentle giants. Your little rider will return a Western Professional as 1 hour each day is dedicated to riding instruction. Parent Note: Riding gear required includes hard soled boot that goes past the ankle, breeches or jeans (no shorts) an optional riding helmet (helmets provided). Campers will focus on using their strength and fl exibility to learn new acrobatic skills on the fl oor, rings, ropes, and more! We will work on learning our new cirque skills for at least 3 hours each day while also having fun doing arts, crafts and games. All of our hard work will pay off when we dazzle you at our parent show on Friday.

Dance Ages: 7-14 Cost: $225/$265Do you love to dance? This is the camp for you! In this camp, dancers will learn a new routine to a different dance style each day. Ice SkatingAges: 7-12 Cost: $250/$290Spend 5 days at San Diego Ice Arena. This camp includes skate rentals, a t-shirt and 30 minutes of daily instruction. Lessons are followed by two-hours free skate to practice your camel spins and axel jumps, and have a fun time with your friends. Its show time on Friday and parents are welcome to come see what our little skaters have learned.

Parent Note: Skates are provided, but campers may provide their own. We recommend gloves, and multiple layers of clothing as the ice rink is chilly. Campers must bring socks each day.

Music in MotionAges: 5-8 Cost: $225/$265Music is all around us, and music is meant to make us move. This week campers will learn how to move to songs that are upbeat, slow, songs that are meant to make you dance and songs for relaxing. Campers will share some of their favorite moves with parents and friends on Friday.

San Diego MountainsAges: 7-12 Cost: $275/$315Not only does San Diego boast some of the most impressive coastline on the West Coast, but we are home to some beautiful mountain communities just waiting to be discovered. Campers will spend 3 days offsite as we travel to Julian for a day of old town exploration, hiking and fi shing in Mt. Laguna, and a day of play at YMCA’s Camp Marston. Onsite curriculum includes instruction in mountain topography, arts and crafts, games, and rock wall climbing. Please note that travel day schedules will be 7am-5pm. B

Teen So Cal Beach TourAges: 13-16 Cost: $275/$315With over 20 beaches in the county and over 100 in Southern California, it was diffi cult to choose which coastal gems to highlight as we travel to San Diego’s most popular beach towns. Teens will explore the personality of boardwalks and main streets in Venice Beach, Ocean Beach, Coronado, Cardiff and Mission Beach. Please pack a bathing suit, towel, and fl ip fl ops each day. EquestrianAges: 7-11 Cost: $350/$410 Giddy on up with us to Heartland Ranch where our horse lovers will spend hours learning the intricacies of equine care. Horse safety, care/grooming techniques, horse anatomy, equipment and stall maintenance are all components of caring for these gentle giants. Your little rider will return a Western Professional as 1 hour each day is dedicated to riding instruction. Parent Note: Riding gear required includes hard soled boot that goes past the ankle, breeches or jeans (no shorts) an optional riding helmet (helmets provided). Airsoft PaintballAges: 9-12 Cost: $300/$350Join the hottest new tactical game out there as we travel to Mr. Paintball every day in this camp geared specifi cally towards younger campers. Like its counterpart paintball, it is a tactical game that forces campers to work together and form strategies. It is like Paintball but less painful. All equipment is provided. The Y requires all equipment brought from home to be concealed until we arrive at the facility.

BowlingAges: 7-12 Cost: $275/$315If your camper has time to SPARE this summer then this camp is right up your alley. Each day campers will get to travel to some of San Diego’s premier lanes and throw strikes for two hours. Traditional camp activities will round out their experience. Socks are required.

All campers create fl oating, fl ying, rolling, desk top and other useful projects using safe and effective hand tool techniques. Sample projects are used to jump start the creative process and both beginning and experienced campers will build their skills as well as 5-10 projects.In addition, Build-It 4-5-6 will also learn how to use a coping saw to make animal cut-outs and other curved projects.All wood tools and safety glasses are provided but campers must wear closed toe shoes daily to participate.

Computer Coding Ages: 8-12 Cost: $250/$290 Solve puzzles with Blockly, a programming language designed especially for children. Campers will design a game and a modern website with real code. Use Blockly to learn basic principles of computer programming, and try your fi rst introduction to JavaScript code. Each camper will be responsible for supplying a personal tablet or device with chrome 38 capabilities or better.

DramaAges: 5-7 Cost: $225/$265Learn acting techniques such as monologue delivery and improvisation while exploring the differences between small screen, theatre, and motion pictures. Campers will share their performances on Friday.

Lessons are followed by two-hours free skate to practice your camel spins and axel jumps, and have a fun time with your friends. Its show time on Friday and parents are welcome to come see what our little skaters have learned. San Diego DesertsAges: 7-12 Cost: $275/$315Make new friends, learn about the rich history of San Diego, and travel to some of our favorite deserts in the county. As a coastal desert we have some of the most beautiful landscape in the nation. Camper will learn about native fl ora and fauna, hike the trails of our ancestors, and gain a stronger appreciation and understanding for the indig-enous species of our region, including rattlesnakes, pumas, golden eagles, and more. Campers will visit the Heritage of the Americas Museum, Cuyamaca College Water Conservation Garden, and Mission Trails Regional Park.

Boxcar DerbyAges: 5-12 Cost: $250/$290Soapbox derby enthusiasts have been competing in the United States since the early 1900’s. This week campers will be split into teams as they build a stock boxcar from the All American Soap Box-Derby. Campers will learn basic concepts in physics as they familiarize themselves with the forward lean driving position. This camp focuses on teamwork and safety as campers are introduced to the rules and regulations of the National Soap-Box Derby competition held annually in Akron, Oh.

Campers will spend the week receiving hands on training in this newly remodeled teaching kitchen. Sea animal enthusiasts have a chance to see virtually all of the aquatic wildlife and exciting shows SeaWorld has to offer including dolphins, walruses, sharks and sting rays. Each day campers will learn new skills and sportsmanship from drills and group games from our experienced staff that will help them learn and enjoy the game. The afternoon will be spent playing fun and friendly games and other traditional camp activities. We will fi nish the week with our World Cup tournament. Campers are expected to travel to play indoor soccer 1-2 times during the week. One afternoon will be spent swimming in the Y pool. Soccer cleats are ok to but please bring regular athletic shoes each day. Shin guards are highly encouraged but not mandatory.

Teen BabysittingAges: 13-16 Cost: $250/$290Trying to earn some extra cash and fi nd a job you’ll love? In our babysitting camp, teens will learn what it takes to become a top notch babysitter and get CPR and 1st Aid certifi ed in the process. Teens will learn about different crafts and activities they can plan for the kids and get to practice what they have learned as they partner with our younger camps and YMCA preschool.

TennisAges: 6-13 Cost: $225/$265You serve and ace when sign up here! Campers will get two hours of on court instruction from our experienced tennis instructors. Our tennis camp will focus on building solid skills through group instruction with reinforcement of the fundamentals. Instruction is designed for fi rst time players all the way through intermediate players with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and tennis etiquette. Campers are welcomed to bring their own racquets but we will provide loaners if needed.

VoyagersAges: 6-8 Cost: $200/$235Join our travelers camp as they explore San Diego on a weekly basis and see what America’s Finest City has to offer. Each week campers will travel 3 days and spend one day onsite participating in our amazing programs, playing games and swimming.

RC Cars and RoboticsAges: 10-12 Cost: $225/$265This camp blends old school with new school as we will learn about the evolution of electronic toys. With some help from our friends at Cyber-Y, campers will have daily instruction in building and programming robots. Cyber-Y’s hands on approach to Robotics challenges participants to think about how robots can help humanity. Campers will also have the opportunity to fi ne tune their RC Car driving skills throughout the week with over 20 fun cars to practice with.

San Diego Zoo & Safari ParkAges: 7-11 Cost: $275/$315Spend 4 days at the San Diego Zoo, and one day at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Campers and their squad leaders will explore the parks on self-guided tours each day. Camper will also enjoy a San Diego Zoo bus tour and 3-D Show. This camp includes a 1-year membership to the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. Please send your camper with a lunch, water bottle, and comfortable walking shoes each day. Campers will be limited to no more than $20 of spending money each day.

SkateboardingAges: 7-12 Cost: $250/$290Spend the week visiting skateparks throughout San Diego County as you receive daily lessons that focus on balance and position, proper technique and maintenance of the board. Campers must provide their own board, safety gear, and closed toe shoes. This camp will enjoy a BBQ on Friday at Robb Field.

Teen Be the ChangeAges: 13-16 Cost: $225/$265Are you looking for a way to get involved in your community? Teen Be the Change will help you fi nd your true passions as a leader in the world around you. Campers will serve food to San Diego’s homeless population, be a listening ear for our senior population, learn how to prepare and assist in the occurrence of a natural disaster, and work in small groups to strategize the solution to a problem affecting our local community.

Tour De CampAges: 5-12 Cost: $175/$205Offering variety, excitement, and the chance to try new things, Tour De Camp is for the camper that loves a challenge. Campers will receive 1.5 hours of specialized instruction daily, as we explore performing and creative arts, active living, STEM, and the most interesting parts of San Diego County. Campers will compete in daily art challenges, learn how to make edible paint and prepare for an art extravaganza on Friday.

PB’s Best Dance CrewAges: 8-12 Cost: $225/$265Campers will learn choreography and techniques common to urban dance as dance crews pop, jump, sway, stomp and step their way through the week trying to become PB’s best dance crew.

In our Rookie Sports camp your child will learn how to play sports like t-ball, basketball, soccer, and other fun sports. Our camp staff will provide a fun and engaging camp environment to let you your camper explore new sports and learn skills. Campers will still get the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities like arts and crafts, songs and games.

Teen Summer Wrap-UpAges: 13-16 Cost: $275/$315Our summer is sadly coming to an end but join us for one last week of fun as we spend time in different San Diego locations soaking up the summer sun. Teens will also get a chance to work with our YMCA staff to learn about the steps to success in school with study tips and practice for the future with resume writing and mock interviews.

Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport that mixes elements from sports such as soccer, basketball, and football into one high energy game. Campers will learn the traditional game and also different variations.

ArcheryAges: 9-12 Cost: $250/$290Are you ready to hit your BULLS EYE by taking a shot at this camp this summer? Campers will become Archers and learn how to shoot a bow and arrow. Spending 2-3 hours at the range each day, campers will learn different styles of shooting and im-prove their skills and get chances to play archery games and win prizes. All equipment and materials are provided and the Y requires all equipment brought from home to be concealed until it is time for archery.

CookingAges: 7-10 Cost: $250/$290Your camper will transform into a culinary expert after spending a themed week with our talented YMCA top chefs. Each day our chefs will learn to create different delicious tasty treats combining traditional favorites with out of the box creative concoctions. Together, our culinary experts to be will plan and prepare their own fun Friday meal. Campers will create their own recipe books that they can easily follow to reconstruct their masterpieces for you at home.

Pacifi c Beach Middle SchoolFire Science & ForensicsAges: 5-12 Cost: $250/$290Fire science is the study of fi re protection. Forensics is the use of scientifi c knowledge or methods to solve crimes. Everyday heroes use these specifi c sciences to keep our communities safe. Learn about the tools fi refi ghters and detectives use to solve crimes and put out fi res, practice solving cases with mock crimes, analyze burn patterns, and learn how to keep your family safe.

Jewelry MakingAges: 5-12 Cost: $225/$265Using beads, metal, Fimo, and other fun mediums campers will create one of a kind jewelry pieces to wear and share. Campers will make necklaces, earrings, bracelets and anklets. Jewelry making schedule will depend on age and skill level.
