The purpose of exams and tests

Look at the wording of questions and make sure you understand all the instructional words. For example: define, compare, determine, and calculate. See the Writing resource for definitions of these key terms.

Determine the structure of longer questions. For example: are there scenarios, problems to solve or paragraphs to write?

Look at the range of topics covered in the papers. Are there some topics that occur in every paper? These need to be a focus of your study.
