Hints for Solving Logic Puzzles

Make sure to use pencil so that you can erase if you make a mistake.

You have been provided a clue page and a work page. It’s best to place them side by side when you’re trying to solve the puzzle.

Use the work page to cross off information that has been eliminated and to circle the answers when you find them.

Once a clue has been “used up,” cross off that number clue so that you know that there is no more information to use later.

If only part of a clue has been used, circle the number so that you can come back and look at it again once you have more

information.

Decorating for Halloween night takes a great deal of planning. Below are 5 boys that have decided to go all out with the decorations this year. Each is decorating a different location with a different theme and different props. Use the clues below to solve the logic puzzle.

1. Drew and Max will create either a maze or graveyard.

2. Simon’s decor will feature bats, while spiders will be placed in the graveyard.

3. Alex will play music throughout his house for the trick or treaters that drop by.

4. The skeletons will be stirring the brew in the cauldron out in the yard.

5. Drew is creating a graveyard in his room.

6. The backyard maze will be lit up with a string of lights so that visitors can see.

7. The bats will hang all over the garage that will look like a cave.© 2012 Jena Phillips

Five friends, Kim, Kristen, Katie, Karla, and Kaley were getting excited for Halloween. Each had chosen a costume, location, and time for this year’s trick or treating. Since each girl had a favorite candy, they agreed to trade in order to get more of their favorites. Use the clues below to sort through this Halloween puzzle!

1. Kim and Kaley gave away all their suckers to the ghost since that candy is her favorite!

2.Karla ate all of her licorice on the way home from the haunted house. She was disappointed that by 9:00 most of the candy was gone.

3.The fairy went out at 5:00 since the mall was closing early.

4.Kristen and Kaley liked either caramels or gum.

5.The witch loves gum and the girl trick or treating in the neighborhood went out at 6:00.

6.The fairy loves chocolate and the clown loves licorice.

7.The princess went out at 8:00 to the party just after Kaley.
