NEW: Global Leadership Programme The Global Leadership Programme (GLP) is an exciting new initiative which aims to develop students’ skills for working successfully with cultural difference through the tools of experiential learning and reflection. The programme will span a range of activities and include workshops and a residential trip to Berlin to increase participants’ global awareness as well as their ability to operate effectively in cross-cultural settings. Applications will be open to students across all departments who are due to enter their final year of undergraduate study in 2016/17. The programme will equip participants with key skills as they prepare for the global employment market on graduation. The programme will run from July to December 2016, with selection of candidates taking place in early June and a formal exhibition event being held in December 2016. Residential tripGroup tasks set over the summer will prepare students for a 5-day residential stay in Berlin in which participants will immerse themselves in a city known for both cultural divisions and creative transformation. On return, students will have time to reflect on meetings held and on their own experiences. These reflections will contribute to a group assignment due at the GLP exhibition event in December at which the certificate of completion will be awarded to those who have successfully completed the programme.

The programme is for students entering their final year of undergraduate study at Royal Holloway in 2016/17, in any academic department. We are looking for students who are able to demonstrate the following attributes:

1. A professional attitude, including ability to meet deadlines2. An interest in social, ethical and political issues across the world3. An open mind and willingness to immerse in new experiences4. Reflective skills, an interest in developing problem solving skills5. An interest in working collaboratively

A maximum of 6 students will be admitted onto the programme from each Faculty at Royal Holloway. The selection process will entail a professional assessment-centre approach, which may include activities such as psychometric testing, group exercises, problem-solving and other tasks. If shortlisted, applicants must be able to attend the assessment centre during the week commencing 6th June 2016.

The GLP will offer an opportunity for students to take part in a variety of sessions on global citizenship and cross-cultural team-working, exploring a variety of aspects of leadership through interactive activities. These will be run both on and off campus. Dates are subject to confirmation. The programme will comprise the following:
