Image of Our Lady of FatimaOn January 11, 2017, six statues of the Immaculate Heart of Mary were blessed by Pope Francis. After the blessing, one Image of Our Lady of Fatima was taken to each continent to visit parishes and dioceses in every country. We are very fortunate for the pilgrimage to stop here on Tuesday, June 20th, from 6:00—9:00pm in collaboration with the Alliance of the Two Hearts Canada Chapter. Vantage Point is a casual and conversational environment where people who are exploring Catholic Christianity get to know more about the basic message of Christ and the mission of His Church. If you, or someone you know, would like more information, be interested in joining the Catholic faith, or signing up for the fall session, please call the office or talk to us at the Welcome Desk.Month of Sacred HeartThe month of June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It’s a month long celebration of God’s love, the love he revealed in Jesus. In a revelation to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus attached special blessings to homes where an image of his Sacred Heart is displayed and venerated.

Happy Father’s Day!

Diocesan Priest Benefit FundThe Diocesan Priest Benefit Fund supports the needs of our retired priests and those suffering from longer term illnesses. The Diocese is in a similar position as may other Dioceses’ who have not had the ability to set aside sufficient funds to meet the long term retirement benefit payments/budget. The Diocese has continued to sustain positive growth in the fund over the last thirteen (13) years which has much to do with the generosity and donations of parishioners. Thank you for giving generous-ly to the annual Priest Benefit Fund (PBF) special collection this weekend. Donations are accepted anytime if you didn’t bring today.

World Day of Prayer for PriestsCatholics worldwide are urged to pray for priests on June 23rd. The day was begun by Saint John Paul II in 2002 with the objective of having all Catholic faithful join in prayer for the sanctification of priests. The World Day of Prayer for Priests coincides with the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The “Great Canadian Giving Challenge”Help St. Alphonsus Liguori have a chance at winning $10,000!Go to https//www.canadahelps.org/gcgc/110993 to donate to the parish during the month of June. All money donated will go to the parish but we also have a chance in the draw taking place July 1st. Win, win!

“Pray, Give, Speak Out”Ecumenical and Interfaith AppealThe UN has already declared a famine in parts of South Sudan and, earlier this year, drew the world’s attention to this situation and to what it has currently been catego-rized as a severe food shortage in Yemen, northeast Nigeria and Somalia. All four countries are plagued by continuing violence, as well as severe drought conditions. The CCCB is actively supporting efforts to relieve suffering in this part of the world. The Government of Canada has created a “Famine Relief Fund” and will match every donation made up to and including June 30. More details on bulletin boards. All parishes in the Diocese of Peterborough have been encouraged to take up a special collection NEXT weekend, June 24/25 so D&P can be advised and enable the government to match funds.

Message Series: Disciple/shiftFollowing Jesus can be terrifying to most; it can seem like too much of an obligation, too complicated, too vague, too easy to mess up. Over the next 5 weeks we are going to shift our mindset from that of fear to that of faith. We are going to shift our thinking into that of a disciple by learning to let go of fears and step out in boldness as a true disciple of Jesus!

Sunday Funday! - next weekend!Sunday, June 25th after the 11am Mass on our Church Grounds

Come for an old fashioned picnic to relax, enjoy the summer and get to know all our new families who have joined this past year!Great food, music, face painting, petting zoo and of course the Dunk Tank (dunk your priest)!Saint Vincent de Paul will be holding a food drive at the picnic to help families have enough with children home from school during the summer. We appreciate your support for Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and hope you can help us fill a van!Help appreciated

As for many of our bigger events, we are always in need of volunteers to make things happen plus make it enjoyable for all involved. If you can help with set up/clean up it or look after a game, it would be immensely appreciated! Just let Samantha, Nic or Hanna know. Thank you.

Stewardship Reflection The Scripture readings for today’s Feast of Corpus Christi focus on the profound mystery of bread and wine consecrated into the Body and Blood of Christ. The Book of Deuteronomy foreshadows the Eucharist with a retelling of the epic story of God’s gift of manna to the Israelites, which nourishes them in the wilderness. Both St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians and St. John’s Gospel emphasize the real, true, and substantial presence of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ in Holy Communion. Jesus especially brings this home for us in the Gospel: Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. Our Lord promises eternal life, and His words bring great hope and comfort even in the most difficult of times. Conversion of mind to heart occurs in faithful stewards who reflect on this beautiful Gospel passage. To satisfy your thirst for Christ, accept His invitation o attend the Sunday Eucharistic celebration and receive Communion, as well as a weekday Mass when possible.

The consecrations will be done individually by each bishop of his own diocese on July 1 and collectively by all of Canada's bishops gathered in Ottawa during their plenary assembly in September.

Each parish in the whole of Canada will celebrate the Consecration of Canada to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 1st weekend at their Masses.
