Solomon says it best when he says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” We are all geared to recognize and participate in the different seasons of life: fall, winter, spring, summer. The start of school for that kindergarten student or that college freshman, the moving of a family to a different location, and the retirement from employment are all seasons of life. Such seasons of life are just a part of who we are and what happens to us in our journey.
But perhaps today, your journey of life is a struggle, and you could honestly use a new beginning and a fresh start. Poor decisions of the past have left you uncertain of where you stand with the Lord. Circumstances beyond your control have left you empty and discouraged. Just the rat race of life has left you frustrated and wondering where things are going to go from here. Thankfully, the Lord says in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all of our care upon Him, for He cares for us! As the songwriter tells us, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus; look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
Furthermore, maybe you know a friend, a co-worker, or a neighbor that also fits the description(s) above. Do them a favor and invite them to come to church with you. Friend Day is set for Sunday, September 20, and it is the perfect day for you to help them find that new season—that new beginning in their life— by giving their life to Christ in salvation and commitment to living for Him. Asking that person to attend Friend Day with you may be a turning point in their lives. Don’t miss out on what God wants to do in and through you to make a difference.
Friend Day at Gateway is going to be an awesome day! I count on you to be here, and someone you know is counting on you to ask them!

Pastor Brent
I can't believe all that's happened in the last few weeks. Kevin and Beth have moved to Virginia, we met with CEF about starting a Good News Club in a Portsmouth school as soon as this fall, we had new launch members join our team, and we have formed a strong relationship with a few local pastors in Portsmouth. One church is even allowing us to use their facility rent free during the week for meetings and get-togethers.
Pray for wisdom concerning CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship). At this point, there is not a good news club meeting in any Portsmouth school, and we are the only city in Eastern VA that does not have one.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. We need to raise about $21K more in launch funding, but we've met our monthly goals. We have 768 prayer partners, we're hoping to soon have 1,000 people praying for our launch.
