Physical Inspection

After mounting, confirm that each unit is secure and all cables and connectors are in place and secured. Check there are no loose items within the enclosure screws/washers etc. Check that all internal system cabling is secure and tied back. Yes No

SW1-2 to 4 – sets the ‘Dormant Period’ before the 1st stage alert, in minutes. (see table below) SW1-1 - selects the level of low level illumination for night vision preference.

SW2-1 – 1 = sets the delay from 2nd to 3rd stage alert to 0 seconds and ignores SW2-2 to 4. SW2-2 to 4 – sets the delay from 2nd to 3rd stage alert in seconds. (see table below) SW2-5 – For future options. SW2-6 – 1 = Normal operation. 0 = Test and Demo sets ‘Dormant Period’ time to 15 seconds.

SW3-1 0 = Use voltage input for autopilot engaged. SW3-2 0 = Disable SOG to activate BNWAS. SW3-3 0 = Ignore PIR input.

Power Up Sequence MEU

Check and confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF

Apply main power and ensure; Yes No

• LD1 - AC PWR ON is permanently illuminated • LD4 - DATA OUT flashes one per second indicating the data to the VDR.

• LD2 - DATA IN flashes one per second indicating the data from the A.T.I.

If there are no PIRs fitted then: Yes No

• LD6 - MOVEMENT DETECTED is permanently illuminated.

MAP Operational Check

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF

At the MAP ensure: Yes No

• PUSH FOR EMERGENCY touch pad is illuminated.

• RESET and TEST touch pad is illuminated. • Cover the LDR and ensure the illumination is dimmed.

Press the PUSH FOR EMERGENCY touch pad for 2 seconds and ensure: Yes No

• SYSTEM ACTIVE is illuminated.

• BRIDGE ALERT and OFFICER ALERT flashes and beeps. Press and hold the RESET and TEST touch pad and ensure: Yes No

• OFFICER ALERT stops flashing. • SYSTEM ACTIVE flashes ON and OFF.

• BRIDGE ALERT flashes and beeps.

• SYSTEM FAULT is illuminated.

At the MEU change SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch to AUTO

At the MAP ensure: Yes No

• SYSTEM ACTIVE is illuminated by a lazy flash (6s on and 2s off).

At the MEU change SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch to MAN

At the MAP ensure: Yes No

• SYSTEM ACTIVE is constantly illuminated.

RAP Operational Check

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF

At the MAP press the PUSH FOR EMERGENCY touch pad for 2 seconds.

At the RAP ensure: Yes No

• WATCH ALERT RESET touch pad flashes and the unit beeps.

Press the WATCH ALERT RESET touch pad and ensure: Yes No

• The BRIDGE ALERT and OFFICER ALERT is reset.

Press the WATCH ALERT RESET touch pad for 2 seconds and ensure: Yes No

• WATCH ALERT RESET touch pad briefly flashes ON then OFF.

Once the unit is tested OK tick the box next to its serial number:

Repeat for all RAP units installed.

WAP Operational Check – For OFFICER ALERT 2nd Stage and CREW ALERT 3rd Stage

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF Yes No

• All WAP units do not have any visual or audible indications active.

WAP Operational Check For 2nd Stage and 3rd Stage – Continued

At the MEU set SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch to AUTO.

At all the WAP units ensure: Yes No

• SYSTEM ACTIVE is illuminated by a lazy flash (6s on and 2s off).

At the MEU set SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch to MAN.

At all the WAP units ensure: Yes No

• SYSTEM ACTIVE is constantly illuminated.

On the MAP press the PUSH FOR EMERGENCY touch pad for 1.5s and ensure: Yes No

• The BRIDGE ALERT and OFFICER ALERT flashes and beeps.

On the WAP units that are connected to the OFFICER ALERT O/P ensure: Yes No

• The WATCH ALERT flashes and beeps.

After a further time period (see set Time B).

On the WAP units that are connected to the CREW ALERT O/P ensure: Yes No

• The WATCH ALERT flashes and beeps.

On the MAP press the RESET and TEST touch pad to RESET the system.

System Timing Check

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF

Disconnect SK8, SK9 and SK10 for the duration of this test.

If the PIR units are installed then also disconnect SK6 to prevent system resetting.

At the MEU set SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO switch to MAN. Record the time (hh:mm) :

The system will now go through the alarm sequence without acknowledgments

At the MAP ensure: Yes No

• After set time A. the MAP and BRIDGE ALERT start to flash (no beeps)

• Record Time (hh:mm) = A :

• After a further 15 seconds the MAP and RAP units now also beep

• Record Time (hh:mm) = A + 15s :

• After a further 15 seconds the MAP unit now also shows OFFICER ALERT

• Record Time (hh:mm) A + 30s :

• After set time B. the MAP unit now also shows CREW ALERT

• Record Time (hh:mm) A + 30s + B :

• In the MEU check SK9 3rd relay contacts switch ON and OFF.

• After a further set time B. check SK9 4th relay contacts switch ON.

• Record Time (hh:mm) A + 30s + B + B :

On the MAP press the RESET and TEST touch pad to RESET the system.

• SYSTEM ACTIVE is illuminated by a lazy flash (6s on and 2s off).

Using a Laptop, serial cable and HyperTerminal

Simulate the GPS sentence ($GPVTG) to 4Kts and ensure : Yes N/A

• SYSTEM ACTIVE becomes constantly illuminated

Simulate a $GPVTG to 3.0Kts and ensure : Yes N/A

• SYSTEM ACTIVE returns to a lazy flash.

PIR Operational Check (if fitted)

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to MAN

Reconnect the PIR

At the PIR Cover/Mask all the PIR units. Uncover each one in turn.

In the MEU ensure: Yes N/A

• LD6 - MOVEMENT DETECTED flashes ON when movement is detected

At the PIR ensure: Yes N/A

• The RED/GREEN LED flashes ON when movement is detected

• All PIR units pass the above tests.

Unacknowledged Alarm Transfer Input Operation Check (if Alarms connected)

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF

Using a Laptop, serial cable and HyperTerminal simulate an NMEA alarm

Simulate the following sentence into the A.T.I. SK1 pins 1&2:

$BWALR,,000,V,A,C1=OFF,C2=03,C3=0

Modify the sentence to the following and transmit;

$BWALR,,000,V,V,C1=OFF,C2=03,C3=0

On the MAP ensure: Yes N/A

• The BRIDGE ALERT and OFFICER ALERT flashes and beeps.

On the MAP press the RESET and TEST touch pad. Yes N/A

• The audible alarm mutes and BRIDGE ALERT and RAP units only flash

Modify the sentence back to the original and transmit;

• Ensure the system is reset

Simulate a dry contact alarm by shorting the SK3 pins 1&2 at the A.T.I.

On the MAP ensure: Yes N/A

• The BRIDGE ALERT and OFFICER ALERT flashes and beeps.

On the MAP press the RESET and TEST touch pad. Yes N/A

• The audible alarm mutes and BRIDGE ALERT and RAP units only flash

On Completion of the Commissioning

At the MEU confirm that SW5 - OFF/MAN/AUTO key switch is set to OFF Yes No

• Ensure SK8, SK9 and SK10 are all reconnected.

• If PIR units are fitted ensure SK6 is also reconnected.

• Fit the black option cover ensuring the wire loop is through the hole.

• Fit the Anti-tamper padlock to the wire loop.

Remove the keys from Anti-tamper padlock and the MODE OFF/MAN/AUTO switch. Yes No

• Ensure the Captain receives and signs for both sets of keys below
