Cook was lined up next to Kevin Yoho at the start of the race. Yoho accidentally started his quad before the flag waived and Cook looked over at him and missed the actual wave of the flag which delayed his start. The result was a dead last start for Cook. At the end of the first lap, Cook had moved up to an impressive 10 th place position. Meanwhile, Yoho was called out for jumping the start and had to pull over for a 30 minute penalty. Out front, Brian Wolf had the lead followed by Chris Borch, Chris Bithell and Taylor Kiser. After the first lap, time estimations were predicting it would be a long 5-lap race for the ATV riders on a hot and humid day. The heat and the length of the race eventually took its toll on most riders. After the second lap, Cook had climbed to 8 th place with his sights set higher. Bithell took over the lead from Wolf on the third lap while Cook worked his way up to 6 th position. The top four riders put on quite a show, exchanging positions right up to the checkered flag. Borich eventually took the win while Kiser finished 2 nd after a last minute pass on Wolf who rounded out the podium. Bithell went on to finish 4 th , followed by Jarrod McClure and Cook, who finished a hard fought 6 th place. FRE/KTM support rider, Aarol Bright, finished 5 th in the XC-2 class.
