Kreager Park features an award-winning accessible playground called Taylor’s Dream which includes a splash pad. This “boundless playground” has three circular pods and activity areas on changing eleva-tions, with connecting accessible ramps. Kreager Park is surrounded by open fields and forested areas. Many kite enthusiasts find the perfect spot for a little flying on a windy day. Check out the trail in the park or for a longer hike, hop on the River-greenway and head either to New Haven or into Fort Wayne.

The nationally renowned sunken garden in Lake-side Park is a popular tourist attraction and a fa-vorite location for weddings, with more than 2,000 rose plants of 150 varieties. A half-mile walking path circles the park and the abundant gardens make this a great place to have a picnic, or simply to find a bench and enjoy the beauty.

Lindenwood Nature Preserve is a wooded park featuring 4 hiking trails of varying lengths (one is wheelchair and stroller accessible), a pond and open-air pavilion. Hiking, wildlife viewing, photog-raphy, picnicking and just relaxing in nature are a few of the activities to enjoy at the preserve. The park is open daily year round from dawn til dusk. (No pets or bikes allowed.)

Special attractions at McMillen Park include the golf courses and McMillen Park Community Center. McMillen Golf Course is a fully equipped Executive 18 hole, par 65 course. McMillen Park Community Center has an indoor playground, pickleball courts, a walking/running track and a multi-purpose arena.

Franke Park is a fun-filled destination all year long. The award-winning Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo breaks attendance records most years. Headwaters Park is a beautifully landscaped space located on both the east and west sides of Clinton Street downtown. There are two festival plazas and plenty of grassy, flood retention areas. Head-waters Park provides a quiet recreational spot as well as being the place where area residents come together for festivals, concerts and other special events. Kids love the fountain in the summer and the ice skating rink in the winter.
