!Our Kindergarten Bright Stars Transition program held another session this week. Our Kindergarten numbers for 2017 are looking very good and this is important as we continue to grow in our community. This week, the children participated in a Mathematics lesson. The children learnt about 2D shapes and participated in activity centres. The children made shapes out of pipe cleaners, used tangrams and blocks to make patterns, and geo boards to construct shapes. Well done children and we look forward to seeing you next week. Our next transition session is Thursday 27th October from 12.30-3pm.
!I can’t say enough as to how pleased we are with the progress and success of the Playgroup program, Little Stars. Mrs Chegwyn is performing a wonderful role in assisting children and families to build new friendships and skills. It is always lovely viewing the photos from each Monday and seeing the happiest of smiles on the children’s faces. This week, the children painted stars with glitter infused paint and clingwrap over the top. The children had to move the blobs of paint around the star shape. This is a great sensory activity for chidren, feeling different sensations and movements. This was coupled with reading and singing of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. My favourite photos were of the children running on top and underneath the parachute. The smiles were just infectious! See you all next week and be sure to check out the Kootingal Playgroup Facebook page. !

!Last week I had the pleasure of listening to Bailey Hilton of class 3SW read to me. Bailey is a member of Mrs Knight’s MiniLit group and he is progressing nicely in his reading. Like Bailey, I am very proud of his achievements. Keep up the great work Bailey! !!Charlie Hartshorn of class 3/4SR has also been working hard on his writing. Charlie composed a great recount of his holiday. This is a great improvement. Keep up the great work Charlie! !!Congratulations to Jessie Johnson and Naomi Maybury of 2M on their artworks using different mediums. The girls created a collage of different colours using coloured pencil shavings. Our resident artist, Mrs Simpson, would have been very impressed. Well done Jessie and Naomi.
