CONTENTS

The building was designed as the Yugoslav Foreign Trade Bank in 1962. Architects were Grigorije Samojlov and Borivoje Nanić. Construction system: concrete skeleton, flat roof. Basement + ground floor + mezzanine + 4 floors + recessed storey. Land area 951,00 m². Net floor area 5,528.33 m². A simple cube resting on visible pillars of recessed ground floor, covered in curtain wall, top terrace under a flat roof. Stylistic harmony that finely intertwines external architecture with inner space. Contrast between massive, classical pillars on the ground floor and the simplicity and transparency of the glass covered body of the building. The whole area belongs to a zone of great cultural and historical importance, Knez Mihailova street. This area is one of the oldest and the most significant ones in Belgrade and testifies to the uninterrupted continuity of the city. The area has preserved its authentic outline, profiles and stretching directions and belongs to the evolutionary period of Belgrade architecture when the city adopted European architectural styles. The area is the cultural and trade center of the city.
