Welcome back from Spring Break!

We hope you had some time to relax, have some fun and maybe even a bit of sunshine as we head into Spring. We wrapped up

our class room parties for the year and want to extend a big thank you to our committee head, Jabeen Shaik for helping organize and put on the parties and Jeanette Fitzgerald for

organizing the community service projects. We also want to thank our volunteers who help put on the parties and to those

that have been popping popcorn for 650 students. For those of you who would like to continue to be active in your child’s class,

there are Art Awareness programs that are still happening.

Many thanks to Jackie Cuculich who organized the memorial for Tim Weidenbacher. He will be forever remembered in our hearts

and a part of the Cowlishaw community.

Our upcoming events will be the 2nd Annual Science Fair on April 10th, the Fun Run on May 6th and our last event which is our

Spring Fling on May 16th. Please take some time to look though the information about these events in the next few pages. We

look forward to seeing you during these events. Your participation and interaction with others is what makes these events fun and

memorable.

Spring Fling Donation Help!

In planning for our fundraising carnival to end the school year, we are looking for donations and reaching out to you, the Cowlishaw Families, first for help. Do you have a business you'd like to promote via a gift basket/gift cards/items for our raffle? Do you or a family member work at a company headquarters that would make a tax deductible donation (items or money) for our fundraiser? Would you or your family like to donate to the event or sponsor an attraction?

Any business or individual donor will be recognized in our newsletter as well as at the raffle and any business wanting to donate, can hang a promotional sign during the event. Sponsorship of an attraction (i.e. a bounce house, cake walk, etc.) is also available.

Any help toward this event to help fund our wonderful PTA sponsored programs is greatly appreciated! For planning purposes, the earlier we receive donations for this mid-May event, the better.

Manna Prepaid Cards Fundraiser How would I use a Prepaid card?

x Need a gift card for your favorite teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week in May?

x Pay for groceries at Jewel, Dominick’s, Meijer, Target, Walmart x Pay for gas, clothes, movies, restaurants x Pay for purchases instead of using cash or credit

Support the PTA by purchasing prepaid gift cards at face value from $5 to $100 each for restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. There is no extra cost to you. You receive the full amount of the prepaid gift card. We make a profit by buying them at a reduced price. Due date is Thursday April 17 and will be returned Friday May 2. If you wanted to give any teachers gift cards for Teacher Appreciation week starting May 5 then this is the last chance. Also time to think of spring purchases! Get a prepaid card to pay for spring and summer clothes, sporting equipment, outdoor activities, and home improvement projects from Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowe’s, or Menards. Please return the completed order form and a check for your order amount made payable to the Mary Lou Cowlishaw Elementary School PTA in an envelope and return it to school with your child no later than the indicated date. Your cards can be picked up at my house on the date shown below, or if the box is marked on the sheet they will come home in backpack mail after that date. If needed, you can email me to make special arrangements. Please note however that the Manna program and the PTA are not responsible for lost gift cards from your child’s backpack.

From the Cowlishaw home page click on “PTA” on the left side of the screen. Then click on “Documents”. There you will find a current “Manna Order Form”.

For specific company information on the Manna Group, go to http://www.mannagroup.net/index.htm and click on “Vendor Guidelines”. If you can’t find a specific card, there are more card choices on their website. Please contact me to order one not on the list. Are you interested in running this program next year?
