The PTA Halloween committee would like to send a sincere thank you to all those wonderful volunteers who helped make the Halloween party this past Friday a success. Whether you baked a yummy treat, helped to set up or clean up, sold food or tickets, or monitored a carnival game your help was greatly appreciated and the kids had a great time!

A special thank you to Mr. Bonomo for his support and help with the party and all the teachers who donated candy or came to pass out treats! Bouncies = $300.00Pizza = $240.00 (217.50 + tip rounded up)Supplies = $295.11???? = $20.00Candy = $95.15Total Expenses = $950.26

$3039.40 - 950.26 = $2,089.14 (Budget is $3,000.00 - $1,000.00 = $2,000.00)

The party was again a huge success and that is in no small feat to the fantastic work that you do.  And, you make it look so easy with a smile on your face always.  Thanks so much for all the hard work, Liz.

This holiday season we’d like to help out our classmates, peers, friends, and neighbors in our own school. If you’d like to give back to the Cowlishaw community, please consider a monetary donation to help other Koalas in our school. Donations will be used to purchase gift cards thru the Manna Prepaid Gift Card

program. Those gift cards will then be given out to those in need by the Student Services Staff at Cowlishaw School. Donations are

due to the office by Wednesday December 4 in an envelope marked PTA Koalas Helping Koalas.

Volunteers Needed – Art Awareness!

Are you interested in volunteering IN your child’s classroom in a fun, creative way? We’d love to have you as an Art Awareness Volunteer! This is a great opportunity for all parents to

contribute to your child’s educational experience and be a memorable part of their classroom. Volunteers will lead a class discussion on an assigned artist and assist students in a creative

activity. Artists, background information, activities and supplies are provided for you. No need to have an art or educational background, just a desire to be a part of your child’s educational

experience at Cowlishaw. We’re looking for volunteers who can give 1 hour of time each trimester (or share with other parents of children in the same class) to cover one presentation

for each trimester.

(Parents are needed for every class for students to benefit from this wonderful program.)

INDIAN PRAIRIE SPECIAL NEEDS PTA

The Indian Prairie Special Needs (IPSN) PTA is a district-wide PTA primarily made up of a group of parents and caregivers who have children with special needs in Indian Prairie School District 204.  Our

members have children with a wide range of ages, abilities and educational placements within the District's schools. Our group welcomes all interested persons at our meetings.

Our mission is to unify and support parents and caregivers of children with special needs from ages 3 to 21 by providing them with an opportunity to:

• Meet with other parents to share experiences and learn more about topics of interest to them through regular meetings.

• Learn about and support legislation, funding, services and community resources that support and strengthen the families of children with special needs in our communities.

• Meet with educators and community leaders to increase awareness of and gain support for the children with special needs in our communities.

 We believe that no one can better understand the unique challenges of parenting a child with special

Manna Prepaid Cards Fundraiser How would I use a Prepaid card?

Pay for groceries at Jewel, Meijer, Target, Walmart Pay for movies, dinner, clothes, gas Pay for Thanksgiving purchases at  stores  you  know  you’ll  be  shopping  at  anyway Pay for Christmas purchases at  your  family’s  favorite  stores  instead  of  cash  or  credit Give as Holiday gifts to company employees Give as Holiday gifts to family and friends

Support the PTA by purchasing prepaid gift cards at face value for restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. There is no extra cost to you. You receive the full amount of the prepaid gift card. We make a profit by buying them at a reduced price. Gift cards make great holiday gifts for employees. If your company gives out gift cards, ask them if they could buy them through us. I did - and I got an order of over $3200 in gift cards! Holiday cards will be back Friday November 15 and Friday December 13. Please return the completed order form and a check for your order amount made payable to the Mary Lou Cowlishaw Elementary PTA in an envelope and return it to school with your child no later than the indicated date. To receive your order please mark the form accordingly to either pick up from my house on the date shown below, or that the order should come home in backpack mail after that date. If necessary you can email me to make special arrangements. Please note however that the Manna program and the PTA are not responsible for lost gift cards  from  your  child’s  backpack.

From the Cowlishaw home page click on  “PTA”  on  the  left  side  of  the  screen.    Then  click  on  “Documents”.    There  you  will  find  a  current  Manna order form.

For specific company information on the Manna Group, go to http://www.mannagroup.net/index.htm and  click  on  “Vendor  Guidelines”.    If  you  can’t  find a specific card, there are more card choices on their website. Holiday Gift For Teachers Need a holiday gift idea for your favorite Cowlishaw staff members? Contribute to a Group Gift Card! Just complete the

information below and have your child color and/or write a short note to the gift recipient on the picture of the present

below. During the winter party, staff members will  receive  the  children’s  holiday  notes  and a gift certificate for the total

amount of money contributed. They will then be able to spend the money on Manna Prepaid gift cards of their choosing

by May 2014.

Please fill out the following information and thank you note. Return this entire completed form (information and card

from child) with your check to the office no later than 3:30 pm on Friday December 6, 2013. Please staple your check

payable to “Mary Lou Cowlishaw Elementary PTA” to this form. I will cut the thank you note off for you and prepare a

nice booklet for the staff. Use one form for each staff member desired. Feel free to make additional copies or pick up

extra forms in the office. Example: if you are gifting 4 staff members $5 each, please return 4 information forms with
