SERVICE UPDATES

Trash and Recycling CollectionCustomers will continue to receive weekly trash and recycling pickup. Rates will remain the same as 2018, which decreased by 12.5 percent from 2017. Standard carts will remain $24.51/month, and large carts will remain $29.26/month.

Services also included in the monthly rate are bulky item collection (2 items weekly), brush collection (4 cubic yards or less), and home chemical collection.

Home Chemical CollectionHome chemical collection is included as a service in the monthly rate. To schedule collection, call Customer Service at (940) 349-8700 at least on day prior to pickup. Customers may also drop off household chemicals at the Home Chemical Collection facility located at 1527 S. Mayhill Rd.

Bulky Item Collection (Updated)Included in the monthly rate, this service allows customers to set out two large household items for collection every week. Bulky items are household items that are not related to remodeling — including but not limited to sofas, large lamps, chairs, tables, and more.

Bulky item pick-up must be scheduled at least one day prior to collection by calling Customer Service at (940) 349-8700. Items over the weekly limit will incur a $5 fee per item.

Electronic CollectionTelevisions and computer monitors may be collected curbside. For this service, call Customer Service at (940) 349-8700 one day prior to pickup. A collection and handling fee of $20 per device applies.

Yard Waste Collection (Updated)Yard waste will now be a subscription-based service that customers must opt-in to receive service. Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, and weeds that are placed in kraft bags or carts. Customers may opt-in using one of the two options below.

• Cart service: Purchase a $20 Cart (one-time purchase). Customers may have multiple carts with a $0.50 monthly service fee. Customers with carts may also put out an unlimited number of kraft bags at no additional charge. • Kraft bags: Place an unlimited amount of paper kraft bags at curbside for a $1 monthly fee. Kraft bags are available at local hardware or retail stores. Plastic bags will not be picked up.

As of Oct. 1, 2019, the City of Denton will update certain curbside collection services to better fit customer needs, improve service equity, and increase routing and collection efficiency. See the list below for information on updated services.

Brush Collection (Updated)Brush collection up to 4 cubic yards is included as a service in the monthly rate. This service must be scheduled for pickup at least one day prior to collection by calling Customer Service at (940) 349-8700.

Brush includes limbs, branches, bushes, etc. All brush will need to be cut to 6 feet and placed curbside to ensure Solid Waste will be able to collect it. For brush more than 4 cubic yards, customers will be billed $75/hour in quarter-hour increments ($18.75/15 minutes).
