STEP TWO: STARTING A CELL
What is a cell? § A cell is our term for a group. Every
group is different, and so cells are highly customizable to suit the various group dynamics
§ Celly is available across all devices § Each Celly account can have
multiple cells (groups)
POSSIBLE DIFFERENT CELLS: PARENTS ONLY, KIDS ZONE, SCHOOL INFORMATION, NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS – ANY OTHERS?
+ POSITIVE: • Can monitor who has access to cell information, have
to receive approval to join
+ NEGATIVE: • Admin has to approve all members, can delay
retrieval of information

+ POSITIVE AND - NEGATIVE: • Limits who finds your cell
TIP: SELECT THE MODE BEST SUITED FOR YOUR NEIGHBOORHOOD’S NEEDS. ALSO, SET GUIDELINES
FOR MESSAGING AND WHAT MESSAGES ARE APPROPRIATE OR INAPPROPRIATE.
Step 3: Invite members to your cell
WAYS TO ADD CONTACTS: • COPY AND PASTE LINK • PRINT A PDF WITH CELL INFORMATION • TWEET CELL INFORMATION • SEND A TEXT
• + POSITIVE: WITH THIS OPTION IN PARTICULAR, GROUP MEMBERS DON’T HAVE TO CREATE A CELLY ACCOUNT
IF YOU DECIDE TO REQUIRE APPROVAL FOR MEMBERSHIP, THE ADMIN WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL TO APPROVE PENDING MEMBERSHIP REQUESTS

Step four: Sending a Message
YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE OR A PUBLIC MESSAGE: • PRIVATE: SENT ONLY TO AN
INDIVIDUAL MEMBER • AS AN ADMIN, YOU DO HAVE
THE OPTION TO MAKE THESE MESSAGES PUBLIC
• PUBLIC: SENT TO EVERYONE THAT IS A MEMBER OF THE CELL
YOU CAN ALSO SEND PICTURES, VIDEO, ETC.
¡ As an admin, you can choose to approve/deny sent messages § + POSITIVE: Can control what messages are shared § - NEGATIVE: Might cause conflict if guidelines are not set
INDIVIDUALS CAN SEND MESSAGES THROUGH TEXT MESSAGE + POSITIVE: CAN STOP MESSAGES AT ANYTIME
Changing your settings
§ As an admin, you can only send messages through the Celly website or the Celly app
+ POSITIVE: App available on Google Play and the Apple AppStore
- NEGATIVE: Might not be near a computer or have a smartphone
Ready to share your Cell?
§ When you’re ready to share your Cell with others, you can print off the PDF and hand them out at the next meeting.
§ It would be a good idea to plan ahead what information you want to share by text
