Knauf Deflection Head Fire Seal is used at the deflection head detail of drywall partition systems to provide an effective fire and acoustic barrier.

Knauf Application

This elastic polyurethane foam with intumescent firestop additives acts as a firestop and sound seal at the partition top track.

This product is designed to intumesce when exposed to fire to provide an effective fire seal at a partition deflection head.

Storage & HandlingStore in a dry area protected from weather.

Storage temperature -5°C to 40°C

The product is designed to perform for the lifetime of the building and therefore does not have a defined shelf life.

Waste DisposalWaste product is not hazardous. Disposal should be in accordance with local regulations.

Product Features

• Can accommodate up to 25mm downward deflection or +12.5mm & -12.5mm downwards and upwards deflection.

• Available in 4 standard widths to provide a friction fit with all common track sizes — a twin strip option (Knauf DHFS WS) accommodates larger track widths and provides a cost effective solution to double stud systems.

• Can be used in partition systems to provide up to 120 minutes fire resistance. The acoustic performance of Knauf partition systems is maintained.

• Designed for indoor use in dry conditions.

Knauf Deflection Head Fire Seal is used at the deflection head detail of drywall partition systems to provide an effective smoke and acoustic barrier. Maximum deflection allowance 25mm downward. Designed for indoor use in dry conditions.

Deflection Head Fire Seal WS

Fixing

+ 15mm

1. Four fixed width options for use with common Knauf Deep Flange ‘U’ Channel widths. Twin strip WS variant for use on extra wide Knauf Deep Flange ‘U’ Channel and double stud partition systems.

2. Leave 15mm overlap of Knauf Deflection Head Fire Seal on one end of the Knauf Deep Flange ‘U’ Channel.

3. Align Knauf Deep Flange ‘U’ Channel with laser line to required position and fix to soffit with appropriate fixings.

4. At section junctions, ensure the 15mm overlap is compressed to provide a tight joint.

5. Ensure that the gap between the top of the board and the soffit is appropriate for the required deflection allowance and that a minimum of 10mm of the Knauf Deflection Head Fire Seal leg length is compressed by the fixed board.
