KLRN, and its partner, unitedstreaming, are excited to offer this service to enhance classroom lessons and impact student learning.

Logging in

Go to http://klrn.org and click on the KLRN Connect logo

On the left hand side of the page, click the KLRN Connect login link.

On the login page, your username is your e-number; your password is the first 4 letters of your last name, plus your birth year (i.e. smit1964)

Finding a video or video clip

On the home page, you can either search by keyword, or click the Advanced Search link to do a detailed, specific search.

However, most videos are broken down into segments – you can download or watch any or all segments – use only the ones you want to supplement and enhance your lessons! This video has 5 segments:

To see the segments, click on the Video Segments link.

So, if you’re reading “Romeo & Juliet” – you might download the 7:41 clip of Shakespeare and Tradegy (or any other clip you feel might augment your lesson).

For each video or clip, you have three choices: Stream, Download or Add to Playlist.

Click on one of the three icons to do so:

Stream – you can play the video directly from the internet without downloading it. It may be slower, however.

Download - download the clip to your hard drive. Please DO NOT download it to your network H: drive or to any share folder on the server. These video files are very large and will clog up the server very quickly.

Right-click on the disk icon and click Save Target as...

Navigate to the folder where you want to save, then click Save. Note: you probably want to rename the file, as the names aren’t descriptive of the video clips.

Add to Play list – you can create a play list (or several) to “bookmark” the videos you want to find easily.

Adding Video Clips to PowerPoint Presentations

You can add your video clips to you PowerPoint presentations!

Open your PowerPointOn the desired slide, click Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movie from File

Find the desired file and click OK.

You will then be asked if you want the movie to play automatically or not...

Be sure to cite the source. The citation information is found on the Citations tab on the video page. Simply copy the text, then paste into the PowerPoint.
