Kitchens and baths are increasingly

important rooms in the home, the kitchen

for entertaining and the bath for a

luxurious personal experience. Our hope

is to make these rooms even more elegant

with our new line of accessories.

Closets (and by extension, garages) are

the new center of organization and design.

Gone is the heap of clothes, now it is all

put in place and neat, as well it should.

We believe there is good opportunity to

make a closet as fine quality a room as

any other in the home.

Over the years we have created good

relationships with several European

component makers and have imported

their office/computer components.

These parts have received a tremendous

reception. So, why not import some of

their components for residential and see

what happens?

That is the thought and that is the reasoning.

We hope you like what you see. We welcome

products under “kitchen”, “bath” or “closet”

specifically. That is because a good number

of them are usable in each room.

With great pride and a good deal of humility, I am thrilled to

announce our relationship with Turnstyle. We are their lead

distributor to the furniture industry in the United States.

Stephen Roberts and his talented crew at Turnstyle have

designed and developed the most gorgeous line of pulls,

door handles, and bath accessories. They are unusual in

that most every design features a metal base with leather

stitched over. The designs are functional yet terrifically

elegant and, needless to say, very masculine. Very different

from most hardware and just perfect for that special

situation.

Mr. Roberts says, “Despite the exodus to the east from a lot of

British manufacturers, Turnstyle Designs continues to manufac-

ture in England. Where else can you find the wealth of talent and

craftsmanship across such a wide field of processes and materi-

als that is needed to create this diverse collection of products?”

Dear Friends:

We have been supporting the very talented JR

Hildebrand in his racing efforts the past year or

so. He is now driving in the Indy Lights Series,

one small step below Indy cars.

So far this year has started off pretty well. He

qualified 23rd for the first oval race and finished

10th, not all bad. Then a 5th and a 2nd in two

road races. Then Sunday April 27, he qualified 4th

at Kansas Speedway just outside KC, MO.

I’ve been going to car races longer than I’ll ever

admit. This was one of the most exciting races I’ve

ever, ever seen!

JR took the lead in a cool outside pass on about

lap 20 (of 67) and with one small exception, held

first place until the end. But it was not easy. He

had cars all over him, dicing and slicing and trying

to pass. But – no go.

For a 20 year old in only his second oval race, JR

was so cool and calm one would have thought he

was a seasoned veteran. Yes, that cool.

He won by just a car length -- .0553 of a second

– one of the closest finishes in Indy Lights history!

And takes over the lead in the championship

points.

It was a real pleasure to be there for an exciting,

thrilling duel right down to the wire. Plus, extra

special that our man won!

Next event is at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on

Friday, May 23, just two days before the famous

Indy 500. If you’re in the area stop by and root on

JR!

Doug's News Dear Friends –

It is with a heavy heart that I pass on our beloved

rescue Golden Retriever, Charlie, was run over and

killed a few weeks ago, Friday, March 14. Sonia

and I are just devastated. Shattered. So it is diffi-

cult to write anything compelling about furniture

components. Let me instead share with you the

letter I wrote our company employees.

Hello --

Many, many thanks for all your emails and calls

and heartfelt expressions of grief over Charlie. I

really appreciate it and Sonia does, as well.It has been tough -- Charlie was The Best dog of

the four Golden Retrievers we have had over the

past 30 years. No dog could ever replace him.

Happy-go-lucky with a sly, slightly mischiveous

glint in his eye, looking for trouble always, and a

friend to all without judgement.We rescued him four years ago, and I know he

knew he was rescued and knew he had a new

lease on life. He made the best of it, loving every

day, and loving everyone with whom he came in

contact.

He loved coming to work and wandering among

all his friends. He loved running on the beach

chasing birds, and at the golf course, evading

Mooch. He loved life, and we will really miss him.

A lovely, lovely dog. And one of my best friends ...Many thanks again for all your support,

Doug's News It is a real pleasure to present you these three

fabulous designs as First Place awards in our

22nd annual, 2007 Design Contest! Each is

different, each solves a problem, and each

features great design coupled with wonderful

pragmatism.Every year as the entries arrive they go into a

box. In December we meet with Harry Urban,

Senior VP of Vance Publishing and long time

publisher of WOOD & WOOD PRODUCTS, the

furniture industry’s leading magazine, and a

great outside and objective judge. Tension is in

the air as each entry is opened and evaluated.

They are debated fully by us all. And go into

three piles: no thanks, maybe, yes. Then we

again go through each pile, to make sure we

have given every entry a fair shake. After five

hours or more, we have whittled the entries

down to a pretty good selection. Hence, our

2007 First Place choices!

from beneath the dining counter, so

came up with this slim-line support

of 1/2” diameter stainless steel

tubing mounted to an SS plate.

Angeles. A flexible grommet molded in one

piece of strong and flexible rubber. Note the

raised opening stays closed until cords arepassed through.

Call For EntriesOur 2008 “23rd Annual” is now open

for entries. We specifically seek innova-

tive ideas in furniture parts, compo-

nents, accessories and hardware.

Entering is simple: A written description

is fine, with a drawing is better, and with

a model even better. The only caveat:

the entry must arrive FedEx orRegistered, Return Receipt mail.

Deadline is September 5, 2008. First

Place consists of $1000, an engraved

Nambe bowl, and a royalty based on

sales. It seems to work pretty well for

the designers: annually we send out six

figures of royalties. We take great pride

that our little contest has grown to be

the industry forum for new concepts.

Doug's News Hector Tovar AwardThis award is presented annually to the employee

or employees who best expemplify the fine spirit,

infectious personality, and hard work ethic of

Hector Tovar. Hector passed away September 10,

2000, far too early and far too young, leaving a

widow, Dolores, and two young sons. It is a

pleasure to honor him every year and to keep

his spirit alive. The honor does not come from management,

but from the employees who send a wrtitten

explanation why they chose who they did and

why they deserve the award. A lot of effort is

put into the letters! Judging is not easy.

There were two Awards in 2007: Midori

Lammel and Maria Gutierrez.Midori has been with us about 18 months and is

a Customer Service Representative as well as our

Mail List Manager. She assists in training new CSR's and helps

establish and implement new procedures. "I have

been able to turn to her for anything and she has

always been happy to help", said one letter,

reflecting many others.In addition to her CSR duties, Maria who has been
