School Wide Positive Behaviours What is the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Approach? Kismet Park Primary School is launching the SWPBS approach. This is a whole school approach to creating an

environment, which encourages effective learning through the development of a positive, calm and welcoming

atmosphere. We encourage positive feedback to students often and endeavour to teach students how to behave

appropriately. We recognise that learning social skills and socially acceptable behaviours is a process, which

everybody moves through at a different pace. Learning appropriate social skills is seen in the same light as

learning how to read or complete maths. Some people need more assistance in some areas and less in others.

IN THE CLASSROOM

Initially, classroom teachers will work with their class to introduce the matrixes for non-classroom teaching areas

to clearly define expected behaviour within the school. These will be explicitly taught for one hour each week to

teach, model and reinforce expected behaviour. Social skills are also explicitly taught within the curriculum.

New School Values:

As part of School Wide Positive Behaviours we are revamping our School Values to include:

-Be Respectful

-Be Responsible

-Be Safe

-Be a Learner

Students will receive certificates at assembly alternating fortnightly between Classroom and Specialists. Next

week will see the first of classroom awards presented to our students at assembly.

Congratulations Nathan Fulton

Nathan form 5/6A took home the Gold at the

2018 Victorian State AFBJJ Jujitsu Champion-

ship last Saturday 14th April. Nathan won first in his

weight class, scoring an 8-0 victory on points in a five

minute match. Well Done Nathan..
