Learn to cut and weld steel using a cutting torch, plasma cutters, and wire welder just like the pros. Take your project home and show your friends and parents. No prior experience is necessary. Proper safety will be covered. Just come ready to create, fabricate and weld. Projects will vary. Leather shoes, long sleeves and long pants are required. Introduction to the Arts Do you dream about being on the big stage? Or maybe dream about hanging your painting in a gallery in the big city? This class is going to give you the opportunity to try it both! We have a fun week of exploring the arts. This class is organized to maximize your knowledge of the different kinds of art, and we hope to help you to entice your dreams! Crime Scene Investigators In this class you will solve the crime! Students will learn how to collect and analyze finger prints and blood spatter. We will also learn how to use a microscope to look at hair collected at a crime scene and how DNA evidence is used to solve a crime. On the last day, you will be challenged with the escape room. You and your classmates have to figure out how to get out together! Construct and Create Future architects, construction professionals and engineers - this class is for you! In a safe lab environment, use real tools and wood to construct a project to take home and show all of your family and friends. Never used a power tool before?     On the Farm We are going to bring some exciting and hands-on activities FROM THE FARM to YOU! Kids can be sure to bring home valuable information about where their food is grown, how food has impacted our lives throughout the years, and interesting facts about animals that they can't learn in a classroom. Slime Slime all the time! WHAT TIME IS IT? It’s SLIME TIME! Slime has taken over YouTube, elementary schools, and kitchens across America, and is now taking over Kirkwood! You will be elbow deep for a week in learning the science behind the slime, while most importantly having fun and trying out new creative slime formulas. You will create fluffy slime, glitter slime, glow-in-the-dark slime, and use what you’ve learned to create your own personal slime concoction. PAW-sitively Pets Crazy for cats? Dreaming of dogs? Discover new and interesting things about pets. Learn training tips and how to care for house pets, as well as warning signs, shared by a local vet for when your pet might be ill. This will be an exciting week full of feathers, fur, barks, claws and critters! There will be plenty of time for snuggling and petting of the animals!

    Coding 101 Love technology? Like to figure out how things work? Sign up for Coding 101! Learn computer programming skills through interactive and exciting games. Have a blast creating animated stories and bringing ideas to life. Learn how to create characters, animations, sounds and special effects. WARNING: You won’t even realize all of the cool things you are learning like basic coding and programming, problem solving, logic, physics and more! Fit&FUN Stretch those muscles and feel the burn! We are diving into the world of exercise. Turn yourself into a dog with yoga, feel the burn of wind sprints, and learn how to stretch appropriately to maximize success!

    Fiesta for Kids! Wonder why pinatas are essential to birthday parties? Learn why as you make your own! You will also create Lucha Libre masks, Mexican paper flowers, Dia De Los Muertos sugar skulls (Day of the Dead sugar skulls) and other interesting items connected to the Mexican culture. While you create you will learn about unique traditions and crafts of the Mexican culture – Fiesta style! Nature Up Close Learn to really look at the nature around you! Learn about nature in a new way by using hand loupes and stereoscopic microscopes. Explore the Jones Regional Kirkwood Campus as we collect and discover micro-nature. Create cool artwork and record your findings in a journal you can take home. From insects and sand to pond water and your own hand a whole new world awaits your discovery!

    Dash & Dot Learn 21st Century coding skills while bringing robot friends, Dash and Dot, to life! Use a tablet to program your robot to move, dance, light up, make sounds, avoid obstacles, and even react to your voice! Sensory Science Enjoy explosions, reactions, and bubbly brews? Then this class is for you! You will be entertained and educated while learning the “wow” and facts behind weird science and experiments! Come ready to explore, experiment and get a little messy!
