    demand of disc insulators for T&D lines, theywill be manufacturing disc insulators of 45KNto 320KN rating of both plain and anti-fog type,with creepage distances for normal and highlypolluted areas

    and protective zinc sleeves to combat thedeterioration of ball pin due to corrosion.

    Kiran Group has been known for storing liquidproducts and chemicals for over two decades,with tank terminals for hazardous and non-hazardous liquids, edible oil, petroleum andpetro-chemical products. They have about 1.2million kl storage capacity per annum and also

    the dedicated pipeline between jetties andterminals. With the help of their experience,facilities, instrumentation and research teamthey are able to handle the most hazardouschemical with utmost care.

    Transportation

    Kiran Group is one of the leading integratedlogistics solutions providers. They improve theorchestration of their customers supply chainfrom the time of planning and procurementthrough to the arrival & delivery of theproducts at their final destination. Generallymost supply chains consist of sophisticatednetwork of suppliers, manufacturing locations,warehouses, customs, customers etc.

    They have a specialized team to handle thetransport of all kind of cargos, with 125 liquidtankers, 200 container trailers, 25 dumpers,and also have 50 S.S and 20 specializedtankers to carry the specific chemicals. Withthis they ensure safe, on time and completeconsignment delivery to any part of India.

    This eliminates the uncertainties in relation totheir entire logistics requirement and put youat ease & backed with confidence as theyensure that their product reaches itsdestination on time, always.

    InsulatorInsulators manufacturing plant is exclusivelydevoted to produce high end disc insulators fortransmission lines and other types of pin andpost insulators for distribution lines in the firstphase. The production capacity of the plant is15000 tones per annum, using the best rawmaterials. The manufacturing process strictlyfollows well-defined quality control systems.The plant is equipped with most up to datemanufacturing facilities.

    About the Entrepreneur

    Shri Mahesh N. Gupta, a business tycoon,

    completed his graduation in commerce and joined hands with his brothers to starttransport business from the scratch. He alsolooks forward to venture into a new businesswhile he handles the liquid storage business. Avery well-known personality and a respectablefigure in Gandhidham.

    1) When was this business established andwhere?

    This business was established in 1982 at

    Gandhidham, Gujarat.

    2) What influenced you to start thisbusiness?

    The influence was the geographical factors,mainly, i.e the port being nearby and I also sawa boom in transportation business in future. Myfamily and friends also supported me in thisventure.

    3) Before starting the business did you haveany training or experience in the field?

    I was initially working with friends as a server(giving information)

    4) How many partners are involved in yourbusiness?

    Its our family business and all of us 5 brothersare involved in it.

    5) What is your organizational hierarchy?

    We follow the presidential hierarchy.

    6) What was your initial investment?

    We started with Rs. 20,000 and now ourbusiness is worth Rs. 500 crores.

    7) What is your annual turnover?

    Approx. Rs. 150 crores.

    8) What are your achievements andbusiness landmarks?

    We are the only company having ISO 9000 and14000 in Kutch, Gujarat. (The major objectiveof the ISO 14000 series of norms is "to promote

    more effective and efficient environmentalmanagement in organizations and to provideuseful and usable tools - ones that are costeffective, system-based, flexible and reflect thebest organizations and the best organizationalpractices available for gathering, interpretingand communicating environmentally relevantinformation". The intended end result is theimprovement of environmental performance.)

    9) What is the reach of your business?

    We are spread all over the nationinternationally we export to Sri Lanka andNigeria.

    We are the leading exporters and imports ofvarious chemicals, petroleum products, salts,textiles, silica sand, wheat, wehatbran, wheatflour, pulses and handicrafts and are into thesame business since two decades.

    11) Who all are your competitors?

    We have no such specific competitors as weare best in what we do.

    12) Which is your most profitable business?

    Transportation and Storage business is ourmain source of maximum profit.

    13) How many people work in your organization?

    We have 1500 employees working in ourorganization.

    14) Was your business affected during recessionperiod?

    The recession lasted for about 2-3 months inthe area so we were not affected much. Also,we are quiet a diversified group to let it affectus.

    15) What are your future plans?

    The Kiran Group is planning to expand itsstorage capacity by constructing newstate of art tank terminals with a capacity of

    approx 2.0 Million Metric Tones per Annum withfacilities like drumming, heating, nitrogenblanketing, rail wagon loading and otherspecialized services with approx Rs 100 croreof investment. For this, the company hasalready acquired land at Kandla Port with aninvestment of Rs 24 crores.

    16) Are you working on any special project?

    We have collaborated with DOW Company forthe manufacturing of the insulators and wehave invested around 100 crores in it.

    17) What are your contingency plans if needed?

    As we have a diversified business so if needarises we will focus on other business lines.

    18) Can you brief out the current scenario ofyour business?

    Today our company is of 500 crores and we

    have beenfocusing on developing new customers.

    19) Would you like share any tips forbecoming a successful business?

    I would like to tell you that for getting asuccess in your business never share yoursecrets with anyone. Always follow your goalsand be a positive thinker.

    20) Do have any dream project?

    Yes I have a dream project to purchase alogistic ship (Cargo ship) in near future.

    Opportunist (to be alert enough to see anopportunity in any and every thing thatsurrounds him.)

    We also observed that he was inspiredfrom the best seller named Spring ofInpiration written by Jeetendra Adhia M.D. Healso wanted us to read that book and getmotivated and so he gifted us.

    We hereby conclude that the interview hasgiven us a new experience of meeting asuccessful businessman and knowing hisbusiness experiences and his strategies. Weunderstood that to become a successful

    businessman a great vision and mission isnecessary, and a commitment to achieve theset goal is also necessary for wealthmaximization.
