WritingWeek Three Writing task – Please use the exercise book to write in, if not a piece of paper from a book/pad.Title- Week Three Writing Task – The Mysterious Shadow

Story starter! It happened in the dead of night. The garden light illuminated the person, casting a mysterious shadow.

As silent as a whisper in the night, the figure stealthily crept towards the green, wooden doors. Click…The key slipped into the metal lock, the cold mechanisms inside responding to the familiar shape of the object that had been slipped inside. Seeing the padlock pop open as expected, the figure slipped the slender bolt across into its resting position. The doors groaned agonizingly, the figure turning to survey the surrounding area, alarmed at the loudness of the sound their actions had made.

Science Can you bounce an egg? This week you will investigate if an egg can bounce. We all know how delicate an egg can be. You are going to carry out an investigation to see if you can make an egg bounce……..Never I hear you say! Let’s see. Firstly, have you made a prediction? Get your family involved and record their predictions. What you will need:

1 hard boiled egg (YOU WILL NEED AN ADULT TO HAVE BOILED THIS FOR YOU!)

A jar or container Vinegar (enough to cover the egg)

Questions to think about – 1. Why does the egg need to be boiled? 2. What is difficulties may the experiment bring?3. What do you notice about the egg?4. Are there any changes in colour/consistency? 5. What will happen if the amount of vinegar used is changed?

Method: Boil an egg (ADULT TO SUPERVISE) Place boiled egg into a jar Add enough vinegar to completely cover the egg. Leave the egg for 3 days and make observations. After 3 days rinse the egg with cold water. How does it feel? Can it bounce? How high?

Take a photo of your investigation and post it on Twitter and tag us! @Year6Kingsley

Whole School Task Week Three My Home is My Museum.

This is a project set up by the national museum of Liverpool Imagine creating your own exhibition or gallery of artworks inspired by you! What would you like people to know about you? What are the important things in your home that are close to your heart? Who might you paint a picture of? Toys, special outfits, holiday souvenirs and much-loved teddy bears are some of the many things you might wish to include as objects are artworks.

Create a list of up to 10 objects that would be in an exhibition about you - write a short description about each one saying why you think they should be part of your display. Or: Create your own art gallery - draw, paint or make up to 10 of your very own artistic creations that represent the objects or people that are important to you. Write a short explanation of why you chose them.  Then: Name your exhibition - keep it simple by naming it after you, or be more inventive! Design a poster - every great exhibition has a brilliant poster to go with it, to entice visitors to come and see it. Design something eye-catching!
