CHURCH PLANTING PROSPECTUS
www.kingscrosschur.ch || www.kingscrossec.com
“Commitment to the Gospel and building the Kingdom for the cause of Christ is the heart of
Dan Alvers and Sean Walker. Both of these men have been on the Village Church staff for
four and three years respectively. Their heartbeat to reach the lost is the driving force that com-
pels them to leave the security of an established work and launch a new work. I am excited that
I can say that I support them completely as they follow God’s call in their lives.”
–Dr. Steven A. Davies, Pastor, Village Baptist Church, Destin, FL
King’s Cross Church
King’s Cross Church is a church plant supported by Village Baptist Church in Destin, Florida.
The church will be planted in early 2017 under the leadership of Dan Alvers, Sean Walker, and
Dr. Rafael Mollega, Jr. An area east of Destin (western South Walton) is growing rapidly and is
in need of Gospel-centered churches.
A Church Plant in western South Walton, Florida
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

People Churches
I came to faith in Jesus at a very young age and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights, Florida. The LORD called me into vocational ministry where I have served in multiple capacities. Currently the LORD has called me and my family into the beauty of church planting. My wife’s name is Kim and my children are Gunner and Eliza. Please support us! We hope that the LORD would draw you into the expansion of the Gospel through this endeavor! These experiences are how the LORD has prepared me to lead in planting a church:
Taking part in a church plant as a youth pastor
Training under Florida Baptist Convention planting events
Networking with other church planters
Doing an internship with J.D. Payne in church planting
Completed a minor in church planting at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. in Christian Ministry)
Training at Sojourn Community Church in conferences and weekly events
Daniel Alvers– Pastor of Preaching and Vision
At the age of 7, in the presence of First Baptist Church of Valparaiso (Florida), the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin and need of a savior. I put my trust in Jesus and was called by Him into vocational ministry in late high school/early college. After 6 years of ministry in a few different contexts, God has called my family (wife Bethany and son Ben) to plant a church. Our prayer is that God would expand His glory through this church, and the community would experience Gos-pel renewal. The skills and experiences with which God has gifted me to use in this church plant are:
Over 15 years of musical experience
Bachelor’s degree in project management
M.Div. from NOBTS
Internship under Dr. Jimmy Knott at First Orlando
Design skills
Acts 29 Bootcamp
Sean Walker– Pastor of Worship and Arts
After many years under Dr. Davies’ tutelage and leadership, God has convicted me and caused me to think about planting a church. In the spring of 2016, during a conference, I had an opportunity to visit Sojourn Community Church and at that time was convicted to move in obedience to God's calling of planting a church. After much discussion and prayer with Pastor Dan Alvers, we decided to present the idea of church planting to the elders at Village Baptist Church. After much discussion, the elders of Village have decided to support us and send us out to plant. I'm excited and grateful for the sup-port that I have received from the leadership and body of Village Baptist Church. I am looking forward to pressing on and working hard for the glory of our God. Glory be to God!
Dr. Rafael O. Mollega, Jr.

Five Year Plan
In the end of 2016, Dan and Sean
will begin winding down responsi-
bilities at Village Baptist Church.
Prayer and meditation will be going
on during this time as the group
narrows focus.
In the meantime, we are developing
strategy, budgets, by-laws, cultural
awareness, and the basic blueprints
for this plant.
The core group will be established
through the relationship of the
churches involved in the plant and
evangelism. Multiple efforts will be
made to engage the community!
Servants for public worship will be
gathered and developed.
Leaders in the core group will be
prepared to be Missional Commu-
nity leaders.

the core team through the plant of a
new church, focusing on establishing
a Gospel culture which supports the
vision and mission.
By the end of winter 2017, the
church will begin meeting weekly for
public worship.
Membership classes will also be es-
tablished during this time.
Years Two & Three
Multiply Leadership
With a strong Gospel culture and
leaders to advance the vision and
mission of the church, the church
will begin strategically multiplying
ministry leaders and ministry teams.
Community Group multiplication
and the raising up of pastors is the
highest priority during this time.
The church anticipates being self-
funded.
Years Four and Five
Multiply Churches
Multiplications will be the goal as
we seek to send out equipped
church planters and teams into new
unreached areas.
This will happen in the many layers
of partnerships created with other
churches in the planting of King’s
Cross Church.

Five Identities
What we do flows out of who we are in Jesus Christ.
Our church wishes to allow the Gospel to shape every avenue of its existence. Our goal is to have noth-
ing happen that does not function in the context of the Gospel. Everything is meant to center itself in
what Christ Jesus has finished with His life, cross, and resurrection. The church is God’s people who par-
take in and share His Good News. To join the people of God you must repent and place your faith in
Jesus. This is His church and He owns it because He paid for it in His own blood and forms it through
His resurrection. He rules His church, cares for His church, and speaks through His church.
Our church experiences and shares this existence through five major identities.
Gospel Identity
Worshipers – All of us are worshipers and will worship something. When we are far from
God, we trade in our Creator for created things. These things we make with our hands or
create in our mind. We expect these made items to serve and manage our kingdom. We are
not made to bow down to created things but to bow down to the Creator of the universe.
When we are redeemed in the Gospel, we are free to worship the God who made us and
serve him. This is an awesome transition and joyous response to what God has done. We call
you to this response in every day of your life and by extension to our weekly large gather-
ings.
Disciples – A disciple is a person who is called into a relationship with God and oth-
ers. In these relationships, we are called to learn more about who God is and live out
our lives according to what we have learned. Discipleship is sharing life that leads to
transformation. This life transformation takes time and accountability. In the Gospel
we are called from self-destruction and decay to life-construction and growth. This
growth happens not as a sole individual but as a committed group under the authority
of the local church and its leadership. We call you into this life by asking that you begin
to develop relationships of accountability within your Missional Community.
Community – When we are born again, we have a new identity with a new Father and
a new family. When we are far from God, we live according to the world’s principles
that destroy intimacy and community. Instead of harmony in the world, we have
fighting and division. When we are redeemed in the Gospel, we are brought close to
God and close to each other. The Gospel frees us from petty disputes, brings about true
forgiveness with each other, and eliminates our need to set up our kingdom. We call you
to this life by participating in Missional Communities that take place each week around
our large gatherings.
Servants – The eternal Word of God became flesh to live and dwell among us who were
far from God. Jesus came to us and served us by not only becoming one of us but by
taking on our sinful wrath place. In doing so, He demonstrated a new Kingdom. This
Kingdom would practice and demonstrate in small parts the gravity of what He has done
in His cross and resurrection. When Jesus came to us, He came to serve us and now
sends us out to serve others. We are free to serve and live out the implications of a new
kingdom that is different than the world. We call you to participate in these activities by
serving in our Connect ministry, and other opportunities.
Missionaries – We are sent by our Trinitarian God because He is a God that sends. The
Father sent us the Son to redeem us and sent us the Spirit to awaken our hearts. In His full
rightful authority over the earth, Jesus sends us in the same attitude that the Father sent
him. We are commissioned in love with a message of love to carry to the ends of the earth.
We are commanded and promised that our labors will be blessed by God and God’s own
presence will be with us in the work. We know that our mission will not fail because our
God does not fail. We call you into a life that shows hospitality and cares for your neigh-
bors. We call you to be intentional with strangers, friends, and family about the Gospel of
Jesus.

Our hope is that the people in South Walton would be called to repentance and
faith in Jesus’ name; that the societal divides and dark places would be brought
down; and that God would be loved and people would be loved.
Our Vision
The vision will be accomplished as people embrace their new identity in Jesus. We
want people to experience the true story, join in true worship, live in true commu-
nity, give of themselves in true service, partake in true learning, and have a true
passion for others. This continually works out in multiplication– planting and in-
vading our local community with a church community that scatters to gather both
small and large.
Our Mission
Grand Boulevard (pictured here) is at the heart of western South Walton. With a
movie theater, fitness center, and various shops, restaurants, and offices, it is the
cultural hub of this area. On Saturday, the community farmers’ market takes place
here. Other events throughout the year are hosted at this location, including Arts
Quest– the area’s largest fine arts festival. It is located right beside Sacred Heart
(the area hospital) and Mack Bayou Road (the largest neighborhood in the com-
munity).
“For God, for one another, for the world.”
Due to the proximity to the
beach, ministry in western
South Walton is expensive.
It is only through the
generosity of others that
this church plant can
happen. Please consider
partnering with us
financially to reach this
community with the Gospel.
The Budget
When expanding the hospital, Sacred Heart decided to build the Family Birth Center. They were also
considering a cardiac care center, but chose in favor of the Family Birth Center because of projected
growth of young families.

"Several years ago, Dan was one of my church planting students. We were also members of a newly planted church in Louisville. He has a good history when it comes to this type of ministry. He has a heart for making disciples of all nations. I am so thankful Dan is not satisfied with just knowing about church planting, but is seeking to apply what he knows in South Walton, Florida!" Pastor J. D. Payne, The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, AL, Former Professor of Church Planting, SBTS
“Literally, years of prayerful preparation have gone into planting this church. As Dan’s home church pastor for most of his life, I can assure you the prayer and financial investment you make in planting King’s Cross Church is a worthy endeavor of your sacrifice and commitment. With boldness, compassion, wisdom, and complete dependence on the Lord, Pastor Dan will tirelessly work to reach the lost and make disciples on the Emerald Coast.” Dr. James Peoples, Trinity Baptist Church, Keystone Heights, FL, Florida Bap-tist Convention President
"Daniel Alvers is a man of vision, compassion, and passion. He has no desire to be known but desperately desires for Christ to be known. I would encourage you to support Daniel through encouragement, through prayer, and if possible, through finances as he sets out on the journey of church planting. Thank you, Daniel, for your faithful service to Christ and your willingness to follow him any-where." Pastor Zeb Cook, Hopeful Baptist Church, Lake City, FL
“I have known Dan Alvers for over a decade as a friend and partner in the Gospel. He has a passion for church planting and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Lord will use him in a great way to plant a church for His glory.” Pastor Daniel Kendall, Antioch Baptist Church, Gainesville, FL
“Sean is one of the most capable ministry leaders I know. He is a visionary leader who is passionate about reaching the lost and disci-pling the saved. As a learner, Sean pursues understanding—of God, the Scriptures, himself, and others. Supported by a fantastic wife and family, Sean pursues his passion to serve God and others. His godly character and commitment to responsibility will enable him to have influence in what God calls him to do.” Dr. Jimmy Knott, First Baptist Church, Orlando, FL
“Daniel has worked alongside church planters like myself for years. He understands what it takes to advance the Gospel to a new ar-ea. I am excited to see how God will use him and his family to reach an unreached area of the panhandle.” Pastor Jay Mudd, Church Planter, Milestone Church, Boston, MA
“Dan is passionate about Christ and His Word, and is gifted in teaching and leading others to discover the same passion for Christ. Dan's enthusiasm for missional church planting combined with his education and experience will serve as a great foundation for a multiplying work to be planted in our area. Church planters pour their lives into the people they serve in and outside of the church. Dan has already been doing that for years. This is just an opportunity for him to do that even more which will surely result in another strong expression of the Church.” Pastor James Ross, Church Planter, Mosaic Church, Crestview, FL
“I highly recommend Sean Walker as one worthy of your investment as a church planter. Sean is sold-out to Jesus Christ and displays that in his personal and family life as well as in his ministry. He has shown that he can function in a variety of ministry settings and ministry capacities (an essential for a church planter). Sean is the type of person who can initiate a new ministry and keep it going for-ward, with a sense of vision and the discipline to stay with that vision as the work goes forward. I recommend him to you without reservations as an excellent person for leading in the planting of a new church.” Dr. Bill Warren, NOBTS Professor, Church Planter, Jacob’s Well Baptist Church, Pass Christian, MS
“Dan Alvers is one of the most dedicated and energetic leaders I know. He takes the Great Commission seriously which is evident through his evangelistic passion and commitment to discipleship. Planting a church is hard work. Dan is a man of vision who is up to the task.” James Kerr, Missionary in Ecuador, Reaching and Teaching International Ministries
