Learning continues in our classrooms and we are starting to think about all of the exciting events at the end of the school year. There is a lot going on and we thank parents for returning permission forms so promptly. Welcome to our new and returning students Jacinta, Alyssa, Mitchell and Lance. Student Council Elections Our wonderful Year 6 students are coming to the end of their time as student councillors. Elections for 2019 school positions will be held next Wednesday. Students have been working with their parents and Mr Jones to prepare their speeches. Our new school leaders will be announced at the presentation evening. National School Opinion Survey Thank you to all families who took the time to fill in our school survey. While the online survey is closed, if you haven’t sent your paper copy in and would like to, these can be received until Friday. The information will be presented to the School Council next week and will be used to shape our new school plan in 2019. Kindy Orientation Today was the first taste of Goomalling PS for our new families commencing next year. The new students fitted into the classroom beautifully and new parents met with our school health professionals and had a school tour. High School Orientation Nine of our senior students have been travelling into Northam SHS to attend orientation mornings. The students have been representing our school beautifully and I am very proud of their approach. Bowls This term we have been lucky enough to have a sporting schools grant to run a bowls program. Thanks so much to Mrs Jodie Schell and Mr Alan McLean for their expertise down at the rink. The reports were all very positive after their first session today. Maybe some budding bowlers in the mix. Term 4 Hat Policy Thank you to the parents who have been supportive in ensuring their child has the correct hat for school. If your child does not yet have a school hat, please send in $10 and we can organise one for them. Hats are required for both play and sport sessions. Term Four Issue Three

On Friday we went to the Perth Zoo. When we arrived we saw dinosaurs, monkeys and pelicans. We had

recess on the grass in the shadow of a T-Rex! Next we went to the Education Centre where we met a lady

called Susan. Susan spoke about trees and animals and we played fun games about conservation. Alexis,

Macey, Mahli, Jayde, Olivia, Zayden, Ashlee, Tate and Susan were all dressed up as native animals and we

learnt that if we cut down too many trees the animals won’t have enough homes to live in.

After some lunch on the grass we went to the African Savannah where we saw lions, painted dogs and hyenas,

Zayden was very excited to see the giraffes and Jeremy raved about the rhinos, Harvey was thrilled to see

the zebras and Mahli’s favourite animal was the meerkats! Next we went to Alexis’s favourite place, The

Nocturnal House, where Sophie, Gemma and Tasmin were terrified by the bats and Lance loved the olive

pythons. Elijah was fascinated by the Australian Tarantula! Then we were off to Patrick and Mia’s favourite

giants the Asian Elephants and Jaxon had a fabulous time watching the tired tigers!

Lastly we went on an Australian Walkabout where we saw kangaroos, baby snakes, emus and echidnas. It was

very hot and all the animals were very sleepy. We were very lucky to get to pat a kangaroo too!

Too soon it was time to climb back on the bus and head home, we were very lucky to stop in Toodyay for an

ice-cream on the way!

We would like to say a GIANT THANK YOU to Mrs Carr, Noelene, Jarna and Chrissie for coming along on our

Zoo Adventure!

This recount was written by the Year 1’s & 2’s of Room 9.
