KILKAARIKILKAARI is an initiative to give basic education to the underprivileged children roaming in slums so that they are later capable to join the mainstream education in schools. It is run by a group of enthusiastic youth who have an urge to make a difference in the lives of those kids and no money is charged from kids or their parents. We are here with our vision and efforts for providing basic education cum a friendly schooling environment to these kids.We believe education is free to all. Students attending school and are unable to comprehend the teaching methodology in their respective schools are also a part of kilkaari family.Current Scenario

In accordance with right to education, Indian education system is AGE-BASED. This in broader terms means that children are enrolled in government schools in accordance with their respective age. But they are not able to cope up as their educational knowledge level is way behind the children of their age as they dont have any preliminary education to match that level.Solution

KILKAARI provides them with the basic educational necessities like classroom, teachers and stationeries, and guide them onto an academic level where they can stand with students of mainstream education system with adequate knowledge to compete them head on.

How we intend to do it

1. We personally reach out to the parents and make them understand about the importance of education for their childrens future and need to send them to an education institution like Kilkaari.

2. Right now we have three permanent teachers who teach them two hours a day. Subjects like Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Moral Science are given prime importance.

3. We have underlined a week-wise syllabus for them for all subjects and have maintained fortnightly progress report of each student to track his/her progress individually.

4. We take care of their basic educational needs like books, stationary etc.

5. As soon as they attain the ideal level of knowledge that children of their age should have, we help them join school in accordance with the Right to Education.

6. Every Sunday, we try to indulge students with some co-curricular, interactive, audio- video activities so that they can have a break from usual academic routine. We try to make this session a blend of information and entertainment.

7. All the members of KILKAARI meet every Sunday to evaluate the studies students have completed so far and also to discuss the important issues at hand.

Few Hurdles We Face

1.) Their parents are reluctant in sending them to school and dont understand the need of education in the lives of their kids.

2.) We need constant financial support from society and voluntarily services from public in whichever way they can do so.

3.) We are still in search of a good space that would act as a centre for giving proper classroom atmosphere to children. Our SPECIAL SUNDAY MEET Every Sunday all the existing members who are available and new members meet at least for two hours from 10.30 a.m. -12.30 p.m.

We make the Sunday special for the kids by doing some interesting activities with the kids like telling moral or inspirational stories, playing some team sport with them, or some other extracurricular activity etc.

Spend time with each child individually to track their progress & know if they or teachers are facing any problems.

Discuss the issues concerning the Kilkaari and how to take the initiative ahead.
