Also on display wil l be a Gemini twin-pass reverse osmosis unit, and the Duo Rapide Plus tr iple-bed deio- niser. GKD has extended its range of h igh-per for - mance fi l ter media to in- c l u d e G e k u p l a t e , a diffusion-bonded stainless- steel wire-mesh laminate.
A special sintering pro- cess gives Gekuplate high mechanical strength whi le retaining the fi l tration prop- ert ies of finest f i l ter media. This speci f ic mechanica l stabi l i ty greatly enhances durabi l i ty and, especia l ly compared to plastic wi re cloth, signif icantly reduces waste disposal costs.

A part icular feature of the system is the wide ex- pansion of the membrane, which pressurises a large volume, after it has been filled. In fact, the fi l tering part is in continuous move- ment, always creating new ways out for the f i l tered liquid flow.
Thanks to this principle, it is possible to obtain final results, without adding l ime or other inerts, of 25% dry
s o l i d s f o r b i o l o g i c a l sludges, 35% dry solids for c h e m i c a l - p h y s i c a l y ie ld , and more than 35% dry so l ids for iner t mat te r . Moreover, it is also possible to fi l ter doughy materials; the Squeeze Box is conse- quently also useful for post- dehydration.

The further development of the glandless Orion CD f i l te r f rom KHS Proces- stechnik to the Orion CDG product line, with gas-tight, m o v e a b l e c o n t a i n m e n t shells, means that the en- v i ronmental benefits of a self-contained system are also provided for sheet fil- ters. The maximum working pressure: of the pneumati- cal ly sealed container of - 1 / + 1 bar provides the capabi l i ty for a host of pro- cess ing cond i t i ons such as inert gas atmosphere, vacuum supply for exhaust vapours, or the circulation of hot air to maintain the tempera tu re of the plate package.
