K-Flex AL CladElastomeric Insulation Clad with Aluminum Foil/Laminated to Polypropylene SheetNomaco K-Flex AL Clad, available in both tubular and sheet form is a composite product comprised of flexible closed cell elastomeric insulation adhered to an outer covering comprised of an abuse resistant, easy to clean, aesthetic polypropylene sheet laminated to an aluminum foil, providing salt resistance, UV protection and impact resistance. It is an ideal choice for food processing plants, pharmaceutical, film processing, electronics and other clean room applications. The polypropylene / aluminum cladding provides a secondary moisture vapor barrier inherent to the closed cell foam core. The primary function of the cladding is abuse resistance, clean ability and protection from UV rays. The smooth shiny surface is tough, impact resistant and dust free, resistant to acids, alkali, salts, oil, fats, aliphatic hydrocarbons and is highly impermeable to gases and moisture. The flexible cladding provides resistance to traffic (does not dent like traditional metal jackets) as well as excellent appearance and easy maintenance. The K-Flex AL Clad system allows for quick and easy replacement should this be required. The unique closure system (over lap system for longitudinal seams and butt joints) no through seams insures against moisture penetration. No special tools and fewer materials necessary at the job site make proper installation a snap. K-Flex AL Clad is light and easy to handle. The K-Flex AL Clad system provides installed cost savings over traditional metal jacket systems with improved performance in many cases. Nomaco K-Flex AL Clad is available in sheet or roll form with an easy to use aggressive self seal PSA system. This composite product has a low thermal conductivity and a high water vapor diffusion resistance factor. It practically eliminates the problem of under insulation corrosion. It is easy to install and combines constant performance with low maintenance requirements. The performed elbows and matching tape make install quick, professional, with excellent appearance and durability. Standard K-Flex AL Clad can be used within a wide range of temperatures from -297F to +220F K-Flex ECO should be requested as the foam core on stainless steel applications above 100F. The temperature range is for K-Flex ECO is from -297F to +300F. Nomaco K-Flex AL Clad is a fiber free, non-porous insulation product. K-Flex AL Clad is CFC and HCFC free, with an Ozone Depletion Potential of Zero. These characteristics make it easy to comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements. Tubular product is available in all standard IDs 1/2and 1 wall thicknesses in nominal 3 foot lengths. Sheet product is available in 36x48 dimensions or 48 wide rolls up to 2 thick. The sheets and rolls are available with an aggressive acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) with fiber glass scrim reinforcement and a moisture/tear resistant polyolefin easy release liner.

*K-FLEX LS SHEET in thickness noted within the specified temperature ranges will prevent condensation on indoor piping under design conditions defined below. Normal: Maximum severity of indoor conditions seldom exceed 85F (29C) and 70% R.H. in United States. Mild: Typical conditions are most air-conditioned spaces and arid climates. Severe: Generally found in areas where excessive moisture is introduced or in poorly ventilated areas where the temperature may be depressed below the ambient. Under conditions of high humidity, additional thickness of insulation may be required.

K-FLEX LS SELF-SEALflexible closed cell elastomeric pipe insulation Designed for the professional contractorDescriPtionK-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL Pipe Insulation is an environmentally friendly, CFC-free, flexible elastomeric insulation, pre-slit with a factory-applied pressure sensitive adhesive. It is black in color and identified as K-FLEX LS. This superior closed cell insulation is designed to retard heat flow and prevent condensation when properly installed. K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL Pipe Insulation is pre-slit with a factory applied specially formulated long-lasting bonding adhesive applied to both seam surfaces and comes with convenient built-in release liners which allow for easy installation. It is available in wall thicknesses of 3/8" through 1" and in sizes ranging from 3/8" to 4" IPS. K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL key physical properties are approved through supervision by Factory Mutual Research Corporation. It is non-porous, non-fiberous and resistant to mold growth.

feAtures & benefitsK-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL offers the advantage of easier handling handling & installation. Faster install Ideal for straight runs Less use of contact adhesives

resistAnce to Moisture VAPor flowThe closed-cell structure and unique formulation of K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL effectively retards the flow of moisture vapor, and is considered a low transmittance vapor retarder. For most indoor applications, K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL needs no additional protection. Additional vapor barrier protection may be necessary for K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL when installed on low temperature surfaces that are exposed to continuous high humidity.

APPlicAtionsK-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL has the same excellent insulation properties as standard K-FLEX LS and is used on similar applications such as refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, roof drains and chilled water systems. K-FLEX LS SELFSEAL is recommended for applications ranging from -40F to 200F (-40C to 93C) for both new and existing applications. For best results, store and install K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL at temperatures above 40F (4C). K-FLEX LS SELF-SEALs closure system is designed to save labor costs. It greatly reduces the use of contact adhesives, thus allowing for improved working conditions and compliance with OSHA requirements. K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL has superior cold weather flexibility. K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL can be used with heat tracing/heat tapes.

flAMe AnD sMoke rAtingK-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL Self-Seal Pipe Insulation in wall thicknesses up to 1-1/2" (38 mm) has a flame spread rating of 25 or less and a smoke development rating of 50 or less as tested by ASTM E 84 Method of Testing entitled: Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials. K-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL is acceptable for use in duct/plenum applications meeting the requirements of NFPA 90A.Numerical flammability ratings alone may not define the performance of products under actual fire conditions. They are provided only for use in the selection of products to meet limits specified, when compared to a known standard.

instAllAtionK-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL is pre-slit with factory applied adhesive (PSA) to both seam surfaces and convenient built-in tabs for easy installation: slip on the tube, pull the tab, pinch it shut and apply pressure to the seams. The seam should be positioned to be on the bottom of the pipe.

All butt joints must be sealed with an approved contact adhesive. Fittings are fabricated from miter-cut tubular sections or from K-FLEX LS SHEET.

outDoor APPlicAtionsK-FLEX LS SELF-SEAL Pipe Insulation is made from a UV resistant elastomeric blend. For moderate UV exposure applications, no additional protection is needed. However, for severe UV exposure applications (rooftop applications) or where optimum performance is required, R-374 Protective Coating or appropraite jacketing or cladding should be used.
