KEYNOTE TALKS BY DR. ADAM BLANNING (Friday evening and Saturday morning)

Sustainable Parenting: Health and Well-Being for Children and FamiliesOur 4th Annual Gateways Conference with Dr. Adam Blanning will focus on the following overall topic: How do we create healthy boundaries, so that we as adults can both protect children and promote their exploration of the world at the same time?

Friday Evening Keynote Talk:How to Help Build Moral Sensing and Healthy CommunicationEvery child learns how to function in the world through doing: how to move, how to talk, whats allowed and what is not. How can you help guide a child in this process, without lecturing him or her (which really doesnt work!)?

Saturday Morning Keynote Talk:A Support Session for Overcoming the Parent Guilt-Trip

Why do people talk so much about rhythm and routine, warmth, less screen-time, and all the other things youre supposed to be doing with children? How can we make parenting sustainable, not overwhelming?

Having been involved with the Calgary Waldorf School for a few years now, I have come to have high expectations for any event held by the School. Last years 2012 Gateways Conference far exceeded my expectations in terms

of its breadth and depth. There was a great variety of workshops. The keynote

speaker was exceptional. He offered deeply insightful information that has helped me in my parenting and

    everyday living. Roshni Daya

One of the great benefits of the Calgary Waldorf School is support for parents, and Gateways plays a critical part in

this. The Conference is MY own chance to go to a Waldorf school and I wont pass it up! Last year, besides coming

away with tips on simplicity parenting, I left with my tank topped-up. The

inspiring and thought-provoking words of Michael DAleo served to lift my

spirit and carry me forth into the spring with renewed energy and positivity.

Thanks to Michael, I will never again walk past a burbling creek without taking time to watch and listen.

Adam lives in Denver with his wife and their two young daughters, who love to dig in the garden with him. Its also interesting and inspiring to note that Adam is himself a graduate of the Denver Waldorf School.
