Venue Hightlight: The Vela TentThe Vela Tent is back after last year’s successful pilot. Vela in the South African languages Xhosa & Zulu, means ‘To appear’. We warmly encourage you to appear. This space aims to provide a haven for individual expression, casual collaboration & creative exploration. It will be both a space to host spontaneous meetings among individuals & structured/workshop offerings (word games, musical jams, collective story-telling, topical conversation etc.)
We are drawn to encouraging hidden artists to emerge from their shells & give their own work a go. It’s public space for artists to collaborate, without pressure. This emerging may come from
experienced professionals exploring new areas of their craft, or those less experienced who are waking up sleeping curiosities.
The Vela Tent seeks to explore & celebrate creative cultures in a field of fusion – bringing together artists from different creative backgrounds to collaborate. Outside the tent will be a public notice board. This board will serve for people to Seek or Offer to others. Some of you may post “Musician looking for poet” or “Singer looking to jam” – The “Keepers” of The Vela Tent will do their duty of welcoming, connecting & keeping an eye out on possible magic to be found. We believe everyone in the field has gifts to give. Doris is full
of really precious spontaneous moments. The Vela Tent looks to encourage what everyone has to offer to the event as an individual - “Doris is built on love” & we believe that encouraging individual creative connection in a space that hosts equal sharing will magnify that love & togetherness. The Vela Tent is open between 13:00 - 22:00. Please check blackboard outside for details & guidelines on using the space.

Venue Hightlight: All the Things We’ve Lost SpaceA space to honour ALL the things we’ve lost, the loved ones we didn’t want to let go, the earth’s natural resources that have been destroyed. A place to acknowledge feelings of sorrow, grief, loss, rage... those painful emotions we find it easy to hide. Bring a photo for the memory tree/ shrine, a candle to light, poems, prayers or a craft to share.” The All the Things We’ve Lost Space is open all day for anyone who wants to pop in. Informal activities programmedon blackboard outside.
Let the tantalising flavours from far off Caribbean Islands warm your cockles, soothe your nerves, ease your joints & make you smile. At this years Rum Shack we will be serving fine & varied Rums from the Islands of Cuba, Barbados, St. Lucia & the very latest new Rums from Jamaica. Our mixes will be usual juices plus our popular specialities ‘mango & chilli’ & ‘mojito’ style with fresh mint & lime. In addition, this year’s ‘Wellness Warrior’ will be serving powerful herb, root & bark infusions to ease sore throats, aid blood cleansing, assist with Women’s pains & improve virility (ehem!) amongst other tings. They are also serving up a
hot roots tea of a night time. Wine, Beer & Cider are also on offer.
This year’s shack will be full of Reggae, Soca & African vibes as usual & our outside fire will be there to drum around (some nyhabingi playing & chanting too). Open from 18:00 daily
